In South Carolina, clowns are trying to lure children into the woods.

   No, this isn't a joke.   Apparently in South  Carolina, a bunch of grown a** men dressed like clowns are trying to lure random children into the woods.  Here's a video link for more information on the topic.

   Assuming you saw it, what are your thoughts?   If you were a parent, or if you already are one, then what would you do if you caught some random guy dressed as a clown trying to lure your underage son or daughter into the woods with them?  would you confront them about it?  would you call the police?  What would you do?
   
   Please discuss.

      The police should be alerted on this as this is extremely dangerous.   Not only the police but the FBI should be alerted regarding this egregious criminal activity.

         The problem is that they are (apparently) doing nothing illegal.  Neither the police nor FBI can do anything about it.
         
         As the video said, someone is going to get hurt here.  THEN the cops can take action, but not until then.

            Wilderness, I agree with you on this one. I would confront the clown and ask him of his intentions and then admonish my kid to stay away from him and others like him. Until someone does something for which he or she may be charged, vigilance is the best course.

      Wow, that's wild. Cenk Uygur says in the video that he thinks there's a chance it's just a bunch of idiots screwing around, but I would never take that chance if I had a kid that these guys were trying to mess with.
      
      But I doubt the law will get involved until someone is actually hurt, which will most likely be one of the clown guys after a parent decides they're taking matters into their own hands.

   This makes me want to cry and hide in my basement because clowns terrify me.  I was on the verge of a panic attack imagining looking out my window and seeing a bunch of clowns in the trees.  Anyway.....
   
   I agree with the guy saying they likely don't have bad intentions (if they did they wouldn't be drawing so much attention to themselves), but it's still highly inappropriate to try to lure children to strangers for any reason. 
   
   I have no doubt that my husband would beat the crap out of anyone who was trying to lure our kid into the woods, prank or not, and I can't say I'd be mad about it.  Hopefully one of these guys gets a bit of a beating from an angry parent (or at least a very real threat of one) as a reality check before someone takes it to the next level and someone ends up dead.

   This phenomenon could be one of several things: it might be a really lame guerrilla-marketing scheme for an upcoming movie or video game; it could be someone's idea of a "performance art" project; or it's kids hoping to start the next big viral video sensation.
   
   Either way, if a clown comes anywhere near my kids, they have been instructed to scream, kick it in the gonads and run like crazy.

   It gets worst guys. I was reading more articles about this, and it turns out that some of these clowns are not only carrying around wads of money to entice kids, but apparently a few kids are now saying they see some of them even carrying things like knives and chains.  I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with Cenk, as this is starting to sound like something more sinister than a harmless prank or publicity stunt.

      When I heard this, I knew that this was sinister.  In fact, this is beyond sinister & into the realm of the satanic.   These clowns are beyond dangerous.    There is something satanic about this.  These clowns aim to harm our precious children in one way or another.   The police or FBI should be alerted regarding this before it is too late.  Something is extremely ominous about these criminals.

         You're telling me.  It gets even scarier when you read even more stuff about it too.  Like some of the kids have told police that the clowns live in some shack deep in the woods, and even told them exactly where that shack is.  Anyways, the police went to investigate that shack, and found no traces of anyone living there.  Granted, the kids could've obviously been mistaken, or maybe there's a reason there was no traces of anyone living there.   In fact, one kid claims he heard one of the clowns banging on his front door with chains, which seems a bit excessive if this is a joke. 
         
         Honestly, I don't know what to think about this.  Yeah, I get it.  It could be a publicity stunt to promote the remake of "IT" coming out in theaters, or that new Rob Zombie movie, "31", as I have talked to some people who think that might be the case.  But even still, why even carry knives and chains then?  I mean the offering of money to kids to lure them into the woods is bad enough, but knives and chains too? 
         
         Also, one kid even claimed that supposedly he saw some random guy, who wasn't dressed as a clown, taking pictures of him and his friends around the neighborhood, and then afterwards a clown would show up to try to lure those same kids the other guy was taking pictures of.  Why would someone do that?  I'm sorry, but i don't buy into the whole concept that these guys aren't up to something, as i think they are.  As the old saying goes, sometimes the best place to hide is in plain sight because that's where people least expect it.

      Anything is possible, but  there was one woman who actually claims to have seen these clowns herself.  After her son said that he saw them in the woods, she went out there to investigate, and saw a bunch of clowns with wads of cash trying to lure kids into the woods, while pointing little laser lights at them.  As soon as she went in, they ran away from her.  Granted, she could've made it up, as there's no hard evidence as far as I know, but this is what I've read about the situation thus far.

         I read an article that claimed, in addition to the woman who saw them, that some police had seen people dressed as clowns getting away in a car, but didn't catch them. This whole thing is some of the most bizarre and creepy stuff I've heard in a long time.

         I think there is ample evidence there are clowns acting strangely. I just wonder if these new things are true or just kids running away with their imaginations (which I hope it is)
