To Liberals, what do you fear about President-Elect Donald Trump? His sociopolitical stance on immigration & health care? Why do you contend that under Trump's presidency, America will regress to pre-Civil Rights days when Blacks & other non-Caucasians were marginalized or worse, women will been second class citizens w/few reproductive rights, & the LGBT community will experience an even more virulent prejudice & their rights will be rescinded? If Clinton was President-Elect instead, how would America be a better society? This is a Liberal post only- this is a chance for Liberals to discuss their angst regarding the Trump win.
Groups of people who support Trump are meeting in restaurants and halls and making the "Heil Hitler" sign. They are white supremacists. And Trump isn't denouncing any of this. His own racist views are well known, and also his negative views on women. Aren't those things that cause fear to you?
Dems are talking about bringing back State's Rights again in our blue states so gay couples who are married can stay that way, so women don't have to go to other states to get abortions, so anyone who isn't straight and a white man isn't marginalized. I feel sick about this whole election.
I wanted to give Trump a fair chance. But he already began tweeting like a teenager and is choosing to give his children security clearances it's been established they can't have unless they occupy certain government positions. He is choosing the most backward, conservative people to serve as his team. Mike Pence used to bury the blood from his wife's heavier periods because he felt she was "unclean." Are we living in the Old Testament? Trump has already make himself look inept in just this transition period. Which he should have been staffing in his head all along, way before he won the election. He is way behind where he should be. I don't think he thought he would win, and wasn't prepared.
Obama had to spend an hour and a half instead of 15 minutes with Trump to get him to see he can't stop Obamacare and leave a gap which leaves millions of people with no health insurance. He had to explain the economics of why it's not the whole answer, and Obama only did what he could. But he did protect those with pre-existing conditions, something I've always lived with. The R's have NO plan for health insurance.
We normally agree on a lot and I respect your opinions. Why should I not have these fears?
Everbody says, give the man a chance. So, the evolved progressive community should wait until we are in the midst of a rightwing holocaust before we raise our voices?
The man is setting the tone and direction for his administration not even 2 weeks after the election. All of it has been entirely negative, needlessly provocative and extremist.
I would be concerned if a President-elect nominated DAVID Duke or his clone, Sessions, for the top cop job and yet still tell me that he is serious about "bringing us all together".
@ Jean & Credence2 , both points are very valid. With Trump as the president, one has to become very vigilant & use the political process. Although people voted for Trump for mostly socioeconomic reasons, they must be vigilant regarding his sociopolitical issues. Also, there were people WHO DIDN'T VOTE & acknowledged this. If more people voted & for Hillary( who I felt had some issues), Hillary would be president now. BTW, I am a Liberal Democrat. It ISN'T the end yet. Didn't you know that according to a poll, Donald Trump is THE MOST HATED person in the world w/Hillary Clinton being in second place.
P.S. If David Duke was President-Elect, there would be a REVOLUTION in America. Also, I would join in the revolution & protests.
I don't care for labels and when voting for anyone means things in America are just going to get worst, that is unacceptable.
A soul job of a President or Government is to protect people and the land. To elect Trump is to ignore the natural environment and to get a billion Christians to fight with a billion Muslims. I won't even get into all the other social, race and business trade desaster that will be Americans damaged distraction for the grestest Traumatic event in human history, the Civil and World War 3.
Who here has answers on how to stop it, Nobody. Because America is no longer the land of the brave, while only 1% are prepared. ,I am prepared, sold everything and ran.
I'm not afraid - I'm patient. In four years America will ask a Democrat to fix the mess again. And we will do our best in the time they give us. This is why we don't achieve more in this country. The pendulum swings.
Both sides are on the same pro wrestling tag team for megalomaniacs. Only through war people will get to change things for the better, not politicians because they are paid for by NWO. There no escaping this, unless you imprisoned the untouchable or unmentionable. What law enforcement has trillions dollars in gold to go after the only ones that have trillions in printed paper and ruthless guns.
I think you are right, and was thinking a lot last night about every 8 years we just switch, and either the R's or D's undo or try to undo whatever the prior party did. I wish we had more parties.
I also wish we could get rid of the electoral vote. It's cost us two D Presidents now. It's not one person, one vote, if others can decide they aren't on board with what the people think.
I know Hillary was hated by a lot of people, but she was never charged, tried or convicted of anything. At least she knew what she was getting into as a President. And 4 years can do a lot of damage.
This isn't a criticism, I've seen your like minded posts on other threads (though I wish I had your optimism)!
I may point out to the darkest places of Hell on earth, then sling shot these questions into the stars of the Universe to find better answers.
We are all connected , so faith in the true leaders through the history of man has been always the people. Not these synthetic greedy mafia bunch of the few that abuse people to the point ,where people change it, not them.
More reason to be optimistic , the greedy are on the run, world war 3 is their strike 3, they are out.
LOL I'd say that the EC got us two R presidents now. It's all in the perspective, isn't it?
Yes, all in the perspectives. I've heard talking heads going on about the House of Reps and redividing the number of votes per state, the rationale being there are larger populations now. But my thinking is it's still going to be correct proportionately, unless there have been huge exoduses from one state to another, and I doubt it would change anything. Right? Heavily populated states are still heavily populated, and those less so, are still less so.
Trying to be optimistic. Have a good Thanksgiving, Dan. Maybe Melania's First Lady project to try to make the country a kinder place will be successful.
Yes, compared to some (and me). I just saw Trump come out of a meeting, and his first 5 stated goals to begin working on are a lot more benign than he campaigned on. He has no plans to prosecute the Clintons. He still denies that his ties to any white supremacist group exist, and maybe that's true, but then why Steve Bannon? He admits he believes in climate change and it's partly the fault of human activities. He's listed reviewing Visas to see who overstayed their welcome in the U.S., but stated no objective to make the "squads" of people who would round up "illegals" to take them away. I can't stand it when these people get called illegal aliens, like from another planet. The Wall on the Mexican border was not on this list either.
So maybe he ran on shock value and his old D roots may show through. Jeff Sessions, a segregationist, is a really bad choice for Attorney General. Of course, The Donald may fire people as much as he did on The Apprentice.
I'm almost relieved he's leaning towards Mitt Romney for Secretary of State. I did an Astrology chart on Romney when he ran for President. He's really a good guy and a bit of a dreamer. He can't say no, but has a lot of planets in Pisces and would be a good peace worker. My take on him is he really doesn't want to let our Country down. Maybe there is some hope after all. Romney wouldn't be my choice, but compared to some of Trump's decisions, it could have been worse.

So it's the final day. Let's be clear about the choice;Hillary Clinton is deeply unpopular. She may not be a nice person. There are so many negative reports about her, it is difficult to believe there is 'no smoke without fire.' However, some allegations are disproven, and most others are unproven...
