Kathy Griffin , Johnny Depp , Now , the DNC leader in a mid-west state ranting on about Trumps or other conservative assassination , Kinda makes one wonder what the liberal world thinks about any sense of traditional decency ? It's going to be fun when liberals politically begin their , " Can't we all just get along "?
Well, Depp said he meant no harm. That makes it all better, doesn't it? Liberals get to say whatever and pretend they didn't mean it where if a Republican does the same they cry foul.
Makes you wonder.
Nobody is condoning such statements about an assassination of the president. I have seen one in a lifetime and that is enough. Also, I do not want to make a martyr out of this man. So, if he falls, I prefer that it not be by an assassin's bullet.
If the White House is concerned about the message of Julius Caesar and stuff that’s said by Johnny Depp, then why was Al Baldasaro, who said that Hillary Clinton should be shot for treason for the handling of Benghazi, invited to the VA event today at the White House?
Johnny Depp is a joke and his newest movie is crummy despite the EXTREME effort Disney made to make it oh so magnificent. I saw it at the Director's guild in Hollywood ... wore the 3 D glasses, experienced the better-than-superb sound system …
I gave the movie and his performance an F
for FAIL.
(But, I would N E V E R suggest assassinating HIM!!!!!)
I really like most of Johnny Depp's work. He has had some bombs, but haven't most top-rated actors? I give him an A, but that's probably because I can separate the man's work from his ideology. I can like the guy's work without having to like the guy.
My opinion is that your "F" says that you can't.
GA
You are right and you are wrong. I'll leave it at that. Because yes, my emotions affect my judgement. He actually saved the movie and I hate to admit that.
Did YOU see it, GA?
No, I haven't. And to expand on my initial response. I can understand not partaking of the work of someone you have moral or ideological disagreements with, but that is different from judging the quality of that work based on those disagreements.
GA
Well, I don't know about you ... but I am human.
I see your point on this. I believe actors are there to entertain us. I need them to keep their private lives and personal opinions to themselves. If not, sometimes it can get to the point where they lose the ability to whisk you away into the movie world because you can't stop thinking about things they've said or done when you see them on the big screen. Mel Gibson comes to mind.
I think Johnny Depp is a great enough actor to not have me reach that point with him, yet.
LOL You'll have to convince the nation to quit idolizing them to accomplish that. No more "People" magazine, no more supermarket tabloids, no more screaming fans, no more paparazzi. Somehow I don't see that happening!
I wasn't speaking for America. Just me. Since I don't read such things and don't really idolize anyone none of that affects me.
Oh. Well then we're on the same page - I view most of them as slightly (or more than slightly) unbalanced, so their opinions don't mean much and I don't read the tabloids or hero worship magazines either.
(Of course, I can't guarantee I'm all there either!)
I'm getting so tired of people with a platform saying stupid stuff like this. I'm also getting so tired of people jumping at the opportunity to make a sweeping generalization about liberals based on this stupid stuff.
Johnny Depp has always been a bit of a weirdo, no? He and Kathy Griffin certainly aren't the first ones who spring to mind when I think of sensible, balanced people.
I think people are very frustrated with all the investigations going on about Trump. But we still don't know the facts. Actors or those in the public eye should be more careful with their language, whether they like it or not, many listen to them.
I've always liked Johnny Depp, he takes on acting roles that are very creative (though I think the Pirates of the Caribbean series is enough, already.) It should be over.
I thought the baseball practice where the lone idiot that shot the Congressman was a teachable moment. For a little while, both sides came together, and it was brave of them to all play the game the next night, and give the trophy to the R's. If only something horrible didn't have to happen to get people to treat each other with respect.
But Fox News still made it sound like a Democratic conspiracy to get out there and kill R's. Sean Hannity should be suspended for spreading such vicious lies. The media is responsible for a lot of mean spirited gossip too. Maybe they should be paying attention to the health care bill that was tried to be passed by the R's in secret, a bill that would kill many poor and middle class people
I realize the costs of Medicaid are going to get impossible to pay in some states. But maybe Congress should stop voting themselves raises,(they don't work much) the majority of the US hasn't had one since the 1970s. And Claire McCastle had a good idea, make the health care Congress has available to everyone. There has to be money in programs not as important as health care, and it could be taken from there. It's not easy, offices would need to be set up in each state, and doctors would need incentives, because many doctors do not accept Obamacare. That's very oversimplified. Let's rehaul it so everyone has insurance, and do it once, getting it right.
I also see no reason why the rich have to lump tax cuts for themselves in this bill. Shouldn't we all take care of each other? And it's the Christian right who thinks the bill isn't strict enough. I wonder how they would feel if members of their families had to skip chemo and die, so they could hide more money overseas, or play more golf. Every time I think I can't be more shocked by mean spirited hypocrites, I am proven wrong.
I don't think any comment equates to a sweeping generalization of all liberals as to making comments. But there is a perception in this country (which I share) that when a liberal makes inappropriate comments or behaves in an inappropriate manner it doesn't appear to be treated as harshly, by the public, as a republican conducting themselves in the same manner.

or act gay
or wear little bits of hair decoration
or seem like pansy hippies
He is a disgrace to real pirates.
Pirates are supposed to be threatening swashbuckling figures who sometimes come with parrots and peg legs.
… and now he thinks he can get away with talking the way he does.
WHO could take it seriously? Not me.
Depp is still a person with the right to express his opinions, even if they are dumb ones. He based the dress and attitude from Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, not exactly a role model for anyone. Sorry you don't support the LGBTQ community, who has been tortured and killed for many years for just trying to be who they are. Depp was just trying to bring a different view to the movies.
I always liked his earlier roles, like Edward Scissor hands, where he expressed how it was to be considered "different" by small minded people, and also how they took advantage of him. Just because an actor plays a role, doesn't mean you have to agree with their politics. I don't Google all the actors every time I go to the movies. Conservatives just dislike Hollywood because it's liberal, but nobody is inviting them to live there. Can't you just relax and watch a movie without making a problem about it?
<Sorry you don't support the LGBTQ community, who has been tortured and killed for many years for just trying to be who they are.>
How can you accuse me of this?
Gays could never be pirates! Pirate captains would make 'em walk the plank if they discovered the truth!
I, who am not a pirate captain, support 'em just fine!

In the very first place ...
----> pirates don't wear mascara! mad
or act gay
or wear little bits of hair decoration

This is why I think you don't support the LGBTQ community. Black Bart, one of the most infamous pirates in history, who pillaged mostly in the Caribbean, was reported to have worn women's clothing. You have to read to find out things like that.
You are attacking a famous Hollywood actor, and surprise, many of them live P/T in Hollywood when they must to film movies. How is that a strange statement? Obviously you would not be comfortable in a large city with a diversified and heavily LGBTQ population, or any population where most people have views which differ from yours.. Also, Disney is branching out a bit, making more adult movies, though usually they are meant to attract children. They throw a bone to the long suffering parents who have to watch these kiddie movies. At least a younger Depp was a treat for the Mom's eyes, who had to sit through these movies over and over again.
Also, Depp is known for feeling disappointed about the way things have been going in the U.S. for many years, he lived in France for about 15 of them. So it's not unusual that he would make a statement like that. He was very generous to a hospital in France who saved his daughter's life, and donated millions to them. How easy it is to judge without facts.
Disney was a known misogynist, all the women and mothers in his films are dead or dying, and need a man to kiss them or God knows what to allow them to live. Almost all the children are orphans. This is getting silly. I think we agree in general that pirates are interesting.
uh … I live just over the hill from Hollywood and have gone to school with, worked for and worked with members of the Bacon and Lettuce community all my life. I like them, support them and accept them. And if Black Bart wore women's clothes, I'm quite sure he did not act like a sniveling hippie. Maybe I am (seem to be) more against hippies. I'm surprised you don't call me out on that.
I am attacking ANYONE who would talk about assassinating someone, anyone ... It is not a Christian/spiritual principle to even think about, let alone TALK about ... and especially if you are an actor in geared-for-children movies which Moms and (probably gay men,) go to see because they love his provocative looks. Besides real hippies were for love, peace and pot/LSD, not robbing, stealing and gobs of alcohol. Johnny Depp seemed in serious need of AA meetings in "Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Men Tell No Tales" (The (un) dead men were pretty cool. They were the best part of the movie and Armando Salazar seemed more alive than Jack Sparrow.
Here was the real star of the movie, who played Salazar, an (un) dead pirate hunter: Javier Bardem
Javier Bardem
Spouse: Penélope Cruz (m. 2010)
"Javier Ángel Encinas Bardem (Spanish pronunciation: [xaˈβjer βarˈðen];[2][3] born 1 March 1969) is a Spanish actor. Bardem won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the psychopathic assassin Anton Chigurh in the 2007 Coen brothers film No Country for Old Men. He has also received critical acclaim for roles in films such as Jamón, jamón, Carne trémula, Boca a boca, Los Lunes al sol, Mar adentro, and Skyfall, for which he received both a BAFTA and a SAG nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Bardem has also won a Screen Actors Guild Award, a BAFTA, five Goya Awards, two European Film Awards, a Prize for Best Actor at Cannes (ex-aequo with Elio Germano) two Volpi Cups at Venice for his work. He is the first Spanish actor to be nominated for an Oscar (Best Actor, 2000, for Before Night Falls), as well as the first Spaniard to win one. He received his third Academy Award nomination, and second Best Actor nomination, for the film Biutiful. From Wikipedia)
I'm sure Javier would never publicly mention the word:
assassination noun
murder, killing, slaughter, homicide; political execution, elimination; hit; slaying.
Universal commandment Thou shalt not murder
commandment |kəˈmandmənt| noun
a divine rule, esp. one of the Ten Commandments.
<Can't you just relax and watch a movie without making a problem about it?>
No, not when the lead actor for a DISNEY movie talks about assassinating someone ... anyone!!!!
<Conservatives just dislike Hollywood because it's liberal, but nobody is inviting them to live there.>
This is the strangest statement yet. It makes no sense.
Depp is a just another member of a elite group of liberals celebs spouting venom for his hatred of the right , why you don't see that on the right is interesting , No one cares about another's opinions and yet when one enjoys celebrity-hood AND the louder amplification of personal opinions , in which the average American actually has no political voice , that celeb becomes easy to hate . Depp is just another dope with a microphone. , A weirdo with ego centrist self promotion problems , a dying sloppy" talent" of an actor.
If celebrities actually used their heads they would realize that they are turning away half of their viewers
Depp's acting income will reflect what most people think of his calling for assassination . He isn't much of an actor , he certainly isn't any one worthy of listening to .
One more celebrity I won't support $.
