Should be scientists more funded to be able to do more research in our fight against cancer?

In recent scientific program called 'Catalyst' is estimated thatn one in three people will get one type of cancer furing the lifetime. The Australian Nobel Prize winner Biologist Elizabeth Blackburn who shed light on chromozomes protection against aging and cancer criticized the unsuficient government funding of research.

all i know about cancer is that countries that adopt the western lifestyle begin to have populations that get cancer, i think its a diet and exercise problem rather than a problem science can solve.

I believe that more research dollars should be targeted for cancer prevention. The fight against cancer begins with each one of us.

I support more money for scientists, for the search of knowledge, pure knowledge.

"Cancer" is a money-making, political machine.  That said, my sympathy goes to those who suffer from any form.  I have had melanoma myself and I see a dermatologist every 6 mos. for preventive care.  Sunscreens didn't exist when I was a child, so I had my share of burns, mixed with Irish skin and it's inevitiable. My point is, most cancers are caused by environmental toxins, which industry has introduced into our lives.  Things that seem innocuous are poisoning our groundwater and children.  Take a look at your household cleaning products (don't be fooled by "green" claims by chemical companies), cosmetics, toiletries, artificial sweeteners, soft drinks, etc.  We have poisoned the earth and we are poisoning ourselves.  Until we face (and address)those facts, cancer will continue to grow.  Check out the Environmental Working Group website and Skin Deep, their source for safe products.
In this day and age, we MUST educate and protect ourselves and loved ones because commerce is only interested in the BOTTOM LINE.
