   should tax breaks be given only to companies that don't outsourse their jobs?
   
   why are companies that send jobs to other countries given tax breaks and how does these breaks help our economy if they do help at all.

   I think yes, unless  an independent audit ( by government and one other mutually agreed organisation) shows it is needed for the company to survive.  Of course there will have to be procedures to prevent the company bribing the government and independent auditor or their staff, directly or indirectly.
   
   An alternative would be for the government  to issue  outsourcing licences at a cost of  double the average workers wage ( to cover to cost of paying unemployment etc) and make these tradeable through a central clearing house run by the state, which could then determine the real need for outsourcing.

   Outsourcing is not necessarily an elective process if a company is in an industry in which outsourcing gives the competition the edge in gaining the market.  It leaves the company with two choices...follow suite or go out of business for lack of a profit.  Business exist to make a profit based on the fact that they have made a huge investment.  In many cases, the unions have helped the American worker prices his/her services out of the market.  This is tragic but it represents the true nature of what the unions actually do in the end...it just takes a while to get there.  And all along the way they are bilking money out of the employee.  Some industries are not faced with such a challenge it but probably will be as time goes on.  Your best insulation from this is to stay away from globally oriented companies who are attempting to sell products worldwide...cheap labor becomes a necessity.  Tax breaks come, especially in the local business sector not only because the local government wants to add jobs but also because they want the sales tax revenue for their coffers.  So, they offer incentives on property taxes, etc. to lure the company,  Think about it though, if the labor base for a company is not local then why do they need to be in that area at all? WB

   I think that the tax code in general should be simplified. All of these tax breaks lead to a complex system in which political officials use the tax code to do favors for their supporters. If tax breaks for individuals and corporations were reduced, then tax rates for everyone could be lowered and tax revenues would be more predictable.

   Yes, I believe that any company that does not want to supply jobs to the US should not get any tax breaks.  Why give those companies more money when they really don't care all that much for the good of the country as a whole.
