   Do you like or hate when people stand in front of stores asking for donations to their organization?
   
   It seems I have been running into stores where there is someone always there asking for some money to give to their organization. Sometimes I just want to go to the store and not always have to feel like donating. It gets expensive if everytime you go shopping you are always donating.

   I hate it. It makes me feel bad because they seem to guilt me into donating. Wich i do not mind but when you go from store to store it adds up.

   I dislike it, and it seems counterproductive to these charity organizations. They're asking broke people for money. Makes no sense. Better they set up shop outside of strip clubs and bars, where people are throwing money away anyway.

   I don't mind it at all. If I can, I donate - if I cannot, I do not do so. It is quite simple. Most of the time I do, even if it is just a dollar or two. I think everyone who can should donate. If you cannot donate with money, you can for sure donate some time and volunteer somewhere.

   I am not particularly motivated by it especially when little is known as to what the organization is doing or stands for. I either ignore them or simply tell them that I have already participated and get on with my business. Many stores have become sensitive to this issue and are allowing the presence on the premises only in a passive way.  They can be there but they cannot actively solicit you as you pass...you must approach them. WB

   It does put people on the spot when they stand outside, or even just inside the store and ask for donations.  It does get expensive so I have started say, "Sorry, not today."  It was hard but it had to be done.  I do try and give at times if the cause is worthy and I am not down to pocket change for the month!

   I don't mind, necessarily.  If I am familiar with the organization and have the money, I will give some change or a dollar.

   I hate when there are people in front of a store looking for donations.  It will sometimes cause me to go to an alternative store.

    Depends... If they ask with importunity and keep bothering you even if you said that you have no time or your not interested, simply because they earn money for every person that signs up or donates, then I really hate them. (There was once an article in a local newspaper that the aggressiveness of such activists is increasing more and more, one was even beaten up because he stood in front of a man at the entrance of a railroad station not letting him pass because he wanted him to sign up for something - the man then missed his train and overreacted)
    
    But if they work voluntary and are nice then they don't bother me at all (you can instantly see which ones are doing it for the cause and which ones are just doing it to earn money...)

    It depends on the organization and their methods.  I don't mind local Cub Scouts or Girl Scouts as the kids are always polite and never aggressive.  Sometimes I buy or donate, sometimes not.
    
    I HATE the bell ringers, not because I don't think they are a good organzation, but because the bell ringing is so annoying.  While I might donate to those who are just standing there, I NEVER donate to the bell ringers who ring their bells loudly and continuously in front of a store.  I feel so sorry for the people working at the checkouts who have to listen to it all day. 
    
    I agree with others here that when you are confronted by the same organization every place you shop, it gets to be way too much.

    I personally think solicitation shows lazy marketing. It's a copycat initiative. Why can't they start a different campaign. Perhaps they want all the donations to go to the charity, in which case I can understand hosting an organization's fundraiser through my business...solicitation is annoying. Just because they ask for money doesn't mean you have to give them any - nor should you feel bad. Someone else will certainly give into temptation of guilt and allow themselves to be vindicated through donating to charity.
    
    There's nothing wrong with donating but why should I give you - a random stranger representing an organization I don't ever see any involvement with - all of my change, right now? No, leave me alone...bother someone else. If I want to donate, I'll send a check with a tangible value on it.
