i kind of think its the easy way out, because living with what youve done is the real punishment. but i agree, it also depends on the motive and the crime.
Yes I do believe in the death sentence but I cannot support it as it exists. There must be strict guidlines whcih regardless of who commits the crime, they must pay up. The problem is that there is a lot of discrimination and the investigators are lazy as well and mix up and destroy evidents such as DNA. One other thing is that I believe is that no death sentence should be carried out without absolute proof and every effort should be made to do this and it is not.
No... Human beings, just because of our higher level of being, don't get to choose whether another person lives or dies. It's not our place to judge. I am not saying a murderer shouldn't be punished worldly, like being locked up for the rest of his or her life, but to take a life is inexcusable. It would make the officials no better than the murderer in my opinion.
Cresandsuzanne, some murderers don't feel sorry for what they have done, though. Although I don't agree with the death sentence, I just thought I would point that out. As a matter of fact there have been instances where a homeless individual has murdered a random victim just to get put into jail: they got fed, bathed, and sheltered there.
I do think there are situations where it is ok to kill someone, but as a general rule 'No'.
I agree that a lot of people have been put away for crimes which they did not commit.
Also, 'killing people who kill people, to show that killing people is wrong' doesn't make a lot of sense!
this is how i feel about death sentence in general http://hubpages.com/hub/Death-Penalty-B … tification
No I don't, I think they would be getting off easy it they are murdered like their victims.
No I do not believe in it. Sentencing someone to their death is not an equal punishment. 25 years to life in prison I do in fact believe in. That gives the prisoner enough time to rot and regret what they have done.
Deep question deserves deep thought..
Here are some facts which may or may not sway opinions on the matter:
Of all countries in the world, around 50% have completely abolished the death penalty for all crimes; another nearly 25% have not had an execution in 10 years. This makes the US one of around 25% of the world's countries still practicing capital punishment.
Since 1973, over 100 persons have been exonerated from death row, some of whom had already been executed.
Almost all death row inmates were unable to afford their own attorneys.
According to California Commission for the Fair Administration of Justice, the current judicial system cost is $137 million per yer. If death penalty sentencing were abolished, it would be $11.5 million.
Food for thought, eh..?
If someone kill in defense it is legitimate.
But for murder to satisfy own desire for money, sex I think that death sentence is justified.
Most violent murderers, like child and old people rapist and murderers, should be executed thus preventing them to spread their genes.
Im sorry my answer has to be No
There are to many innocent people still going to jail for crimes they didn't committ.
I do believe they should be incacerated for the remainder of their natural lives.
I also know some murderers could make even me look favourably upon the death sentance because of what they do to others. but really is that letting them off too lightly?
Some interesting answers here. Murder is extreme and in most case it is premeditated. That means thinking about it before you do it folks. I then read to put them away for life so that they have time to think about what they did. Is that right? Did they give them the victim all that time to think about their life being taken from them?
I am an eye for an eye guy. As I said, "Murder is extreme."
I do believe in the death sentence and I think as long as all of the evidence is locked up completely, there should be no delay in the actualy execution. Too much wasted money on conservation of death row inmates who have been 100% proven guilty. Each case should be reviewed 2-3 times completely by different teams and if they are still deemed guilty, execution.
No, I do not believe in the death penalty. First of all, our justice system is too imperfect...too many innocent people are incarcerated and I have a problem sanctioning the government to commit murder.
There is no guarantee that this death sentence will eliminate or let alone curb the high propensity of evil-doers to commit so grave a wrong.
To impose this as a penalty makes us no different from these murderers. This is wrong, in the first place. One wrong act will not make another wrong act right.
No. I would make them work in prison and repay something to society.
No. The U.S. is alone among advanced, civilized nations to impose the death penalty. Aside from that, too many innocent people are convicted and evidence indicates the deterrent effect is minimal or non-existent.
Yes. Because we CANNOT keep paying for the food, housing and medical care for people who've demonstrated that they have NO ethics and cannot live in society with others due to their violent actions.
Of course not. Capital punishment should not be an option in the United States, a society that for the most part, is Christian based and espouses a belief in penance. To merely terminate a convict for expediency and economics invalidates the idea of punishment since the convict is dead and will have no realisation of his/her punishment i.e. You cannot know that you are dead, but you can know that you are in a horrible little cell. That is the essence of penance, hence the name penitentiary.
A Punishment, is in Pre-empting, the Punishable from happening again ...
The Death Sentence, per se, has not stopped the Murderings ...
Therefore, there is something wrong with the State of the Mind of a Murderer.
And the State of the Individual's Mind, viz. Criminal, is Determined, by the Society, he or she lives in ...
Therefore ... The Problem per se, is is with the Society ... and not, the Individual.
Till such time, human Society is Reformed ... Death Sentence, will remain the Socially sanctioned Murder of the Murderer, for Murdering another human.
no i personally think that death penatly will not stop any one from murding raping or whatever they may do from doing it my poor friend was raped at the age of 7 years old an hes still out there and they are doing nothing about it now shes 18 years of age and they havent stoped it. i they should be locked up until there actual death not by killing them. surely the death penatly is rong as well as murding as the person who is killing the criminal is commiting a crime by killing all these people

What are your views on the death penalty? While I do believe that some people should be put to death, the risk of sending an innocent person to death is too great. I think either the requirements for the death penalty should be higher or is should be banned. What do you think?
