   Is Marxism a good answer for world's current problems?
   
   Marxists say their way of governance is the best way to have a peaceful world where resources are shared than exploited by the powerful countries. Greedy is not allowed and the resources are shared on a fairly basis.

   In a perfect world, Marxism could work. Unfortunately, that is not the world we live in. No matter the rules or regulations, people will look to exploit/control/grab power over other people.

   Just look behind; Just take a look on the facts shown by the history; just point your eyes to countries that apply this system --- is there any welfare in the countries ? Can their people live in peace ? Is human rights applied properly there ? May everybody use their rights to get the best ones for their living ? Does this system respect all religions on all their rituals ? ......................................?

   Like OldSkoolFool said, in a perfect world, yes. But like in Communist Russia, you seen the vast amount of greed by the profitable few, how they'd take away billions and ruin the poor lives.
   
   You would need a perfect leader, perfect and uncorrupted government and a country of people who were both willing and able to work for the greater good.
   
   Capitalism is the world we will live in. And the world we will die in. Speaking globally.

   If it wasn't clear when they started eroding our freedoms and the US Constitution, it should be clear now that we're a failing civilization:  Counting on the Government for your livelihood is a freaking stupid idea.  Period.

   I feel that what we are lacking is a TRUE capitalism system, one where we truly have a FREE market. What we have now is a pseudo-capitalism, it's fake. It's not real capitalism because it's a regulated market, full of restrictions, and those restrictions are what have led to the destruction of the middle class, not capitalism itself.
   
   I feel that Marxism, or any form of communism is a good way to see ourselves lose even more than we have lost in our currently messed up system. That is just my opinion though. I have heard some rather good arguments for Volunteerism and other forms of community sharing/rationing. It's just not the way I would go.

   As many of you have already said, in a perfect world Marxism would work. Unfortunately human nature cancels out the possibility for the Utopian society required to make Marxism work. Communism is not Marxism, that is a common misconception. Although, communism is based on the theories of Karl Marx it is not a representation of the system in the modern world. These sort of social constructs will only work if every person in the community agrees to take the priorities of the community before their own.
   
   In our world, I hate to say, someone will take advantage of the many. That person will then manipulate the system to accommodate for their needs. This gives us the modern examples of "Marxism" that we see today in Cuba, Russia, and China.
   
   A system that will be successful is a system that takes into account the needs of the many while balancing out the desires of the few (and privileged). This system will care for the many while accommodating the greed and the desires of others.

   Hello, magodis.
   
   Now, my understanding is that Marxism is a kind of analysis of capitalism. Marxism is a theoretical framework. Marxism is a diagnosis not a prescription. Karl Marx, himself, did not write or concern himself with communism or socialism or any other -ism as "The Answer," I understand.
   
   Marx saw his role to be that of an analyst, giving the best analysis he could of a system he thought had outlived its usefulness; and he wanted to provide the intellectual tools that activists would need to overthrow capitalism. But he didn't say what should be erected in its place.
   
   Marxism allows for various kinds of interpretation of capitalism along broad lines of agreement. Most Marxists, as far as I know, advocate for an alternative to the way work is structured, so that the workers producing the "surplus" get to be the same ones that decide how it is distributed. In Latin America many socialists have become presdent and obviously think the solution lies in some kind of state planning of the economy as the answer....
   
   What your question gets at, magodis, is the "law of the jungle" nature that capitalism, in my opinion, exhibits, particularly in this so-called "neoliberal" phase. Most Marxists are either socialists or communists, its true; and I suppose they would therefore rather see socialism or communism become the order of the day.
   
   I suppose what it comes down to, quickly, is that Marxists agree that there has to be some kind of more rational social control of what's called the "surplus product," the profits. Actually, some Marxists and Anarchists think that we need to move to a zero-growth economy, one in which there are not going to be any profits for anyone gamble away.
   
   We should be able to have a dynamic, technologically innovative economy without expanding GDP or GNP, which, hopefully, would mean a drastic cutback in the human contribution to global warming and a great easing up on the use of natural resources (hopefully petroleum products will be banned sometime soon).. There are many different things one might prescribe as the antidote to our various social ills; just remember Marxism itself is merely a theoretical framework, a style of analysis.
   
   If one idea unites Marxists, I would say, is that you cannot have infinite growth on a finite planet with finite resources.
