Will William and Kate make historically great rulers? Why?
When William and Kate become rulers, they could easily be in at least their sixties themselves. Of course what will define a great ruler is how their reign is interpreted, will they have wars to lead their country through which will prove the people's love for them? Will they prove themselves as leaders in the midst of disasters, diseases, terror?
Or will they have a peaceful reign where not much happens except going out showing a solidarity, but the Royal family will take even more of a backseat than they do already today?
Don't get me wrong, I know that the Royal family is extremely busy, I could never handle their schedules, but really, what decisions do they actually make which have a serious affect on our lives now?
The best way forward for this royal couple is to continue to be the best ambassadors for our country. They are loved everywhere as icons, inspirations and people.
Personally, I believe with the way the governments run our country today, that the royal couple would do well to take back some power to themselves and make sensible decisions as they represent us, the people. But if this were to happen, there could easily be a revolution and we could end up with no Royal family at all.
Yet if they continue forward the way they act now, I can see them putting no foot wrong.
Kate seems to be loved and has done very well adapting to the royal role, but who knows what position the world will be in when they take the throne, who knows what scandals the press will have unleashed which can turn them from adored to hated over night?
William, I am sure will be forever loved as Diana's son, in history it seems to be the first in line to the throne whom has acted the most scandalous, but where William and Harry are concerned, the trouble maker seems to have switched. Does that matter? No, its endeared Harry to us more.
If they were to take a moment to listen to me, my simple advice would be to remain compassionate, caring, understanding and fabulous.
When they finally get to the throne, we will probably be talking of their children or grand children, discussing how stylish they are and wondering what they will make as rulers.
Good luck to all of them.
I have no idea. First of all, Charles III will rule with his wife "Camillar" (as they call her) before William ascends to the throne. William is royalty and can trace some of his ancestry back to some ancient Roman Senators. The paparazzi practically killed his mother, so he's bound have some strong feelings about that. Kate is new money and appears to flaunt her wealth with her wardrobe; behavior usually seen in the wives of dictators. They don't have any de facto power though and thus are of no consequence to me.
Charles is an old man and out of touch with reality. He may never live to be king. Watching parts of Will and Kate's wedding there was the first spirited life I had seen in the royal family in years. They looked radiant. Charles and Diana never had a happy moment in their wedding. I re-watched it after Kate and Wills wedding. While Diana was beautiful, she looked like a scared rabbit being hunted by Mr. Mac Gregor. Kate and Will have life experience that Charles and his siblings haven't had and I think they are in touch with the people of England. Here's to hoping they will be great rulers
As a British Republican Democrat I find the question offensive. I don't believe any man or woman should 'rule' over anyone. The Royal Family's days of being 'rulers' are long gone and it should stay that way.
Think about it. The premise of the Royal Family is that only people with the same blood as them are part of their institution. That makes them officially the most racist institution in the world. The fact that they still exist is offensive to anybody who seriously values democracy and liberty.
No, the King and Queen of England (and all the other bits) are not rulers merely democratic figureheads.
That is all they are, figureheads. They are paid sheds of money for doing nothing apart from the queen who comes out at 3.00 in the afternoon on christmas day and reads out her speech. Doesn't matter if there's anything more interesting on the telly or not, she inflicts the 3.00 speech on us. I hope Scotland goes it alone and tells royalty to get lost!!!
