How deep into the earth and how high into the sky do you own land?

The land is next to a public road.  If you dig hundreds of metres deep, can the authorities be able to pin you just in case there is a landslide and the road get destroyed.

You can only use your property in ways it will not mess up anything. Most of the time it will be stated in a contract if you only have land and no air rights or anything else related to what you own. Even if you own the air all the way above you home you can still be told you can't do anything that may mess with airplanes. Each contract is different but no matter the contract you can not cause damage to anyone else property as a result of what you do with yours.

The principle of the common law was that you owned your land to the center of the Earth and to the heavens above.

The law has never been openly changed, but somehow it has changed. Today, you don't own what you are deluded is your land atall. The state owns it, and you rent it. If you think otherwise, stop paying your property taxes and see what happens. Try to stop airplanes from flying through the airspace above your land, and see what happens. Try to stop the state from building a highway through your land, and see what happens.
