What are the 6 ways Obama"care" is a total waste of time, energy, and money where there are

hospitals and/or other medical facilities that offer very low cost and/or free health care?
The "purpose" that President Obama "intended" for his to be implemented "health" care is to ensure that poorer Americans get the health care they need & are not denied access to care because they do not have the means to cover their health care.Poor people in America have been receiving health care. If people cannot afford to pay for health and medical care, they STILL receive health care. President Obama really cannot leave well enough alone. Our health care system is GREAT the way it IS!

I have to disagree with you.  This country has needed healthcare for everyone for decades.  Going to the ER room is not heath care because I and all the others that do have health care are paying for those ER room visits.  I, for one, am tired of paying through the nose for health insurance and $100 for an aspirin when I'm in the hospital.  I am paying $100 for one aspirin to pay for all those with no health care in the ER room getting aspirin themselves.  This is ridiculous.

Also, health care is a right, not a privilege and our country has only had it for the wealthy and middle class all these years.  That is wrong, inhumane and incompassionate!  I believe in the long run health care costs will come down.  We have to quit being a short term country and start looking long down the road.  Health insurance should never have been attached to having a job because when one lost a job the person also lost the health coverage.

I would prefer a single payer health insurance for this country, as they have in European countries.  But, it's not a perfect world, so I have embraced Obamacare although I don't agree with everything in it.  At least the government will subsidize those that cannot afford to buy Obamacare insurance.

I don't agree that our health care system has been great.  Those with pre-existing conditions, something a person cannot help, cannot get insurance under the 'great' healthcare system you feel we have had.  With Obamacare those with pre-existing conditions must be covered.  That is the best part of Obamacare.  I am fortunate to have grown up in the socio-economic famiily I did.  I was able to go to college, graduate with a teaching degree and have all-paid for health care during my 30 years of teaching.  Now, that I am retired, I have to pay for it - quite a jolt to me, but still available to me through my retirement system.  I realized that not all people in this world are as fortunate as I have been when it comes to health insurance.  I will say it again, health insurance is a right not a privilege!

I respectfully disagree with you, Suzette. The reason that you are paying $100 for an aspirin while you are in the hospital is because there is no regulation of that industry, and pharmaceutical companies pay to be able to charge you what they want.

suzettenaplesposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Yes, and they charge me what they want because those with no health insurance are getting those same aspirin without paying for them, so the pharmaceutical companies make up for that by charging those with insurance those prices to get their money.

suzettenaples-health Insurance=equitable transfer of risk, from one entity to another for a fixed payment-not a right.  the government demands an entity insure higher risk person=your payment rises to offset the higher cost=more cost-4-u=you lose!

I'm sorry but health insurance is a right not a privilege.  Everyone in this country should be covered and we should be paying with our taxes even if our taxes must go up.  I like the European style of health insurance and that is what we need.

Suzette, you can believe that everyone should have healthcare, even that it is a right but if you do then find a way to achieve that end - Ovomitcare is not the way intelligent people would achieve it. It will not make good on any of its promises.

Don't you just love people who don't answer the question but just try to promote their lame agendas. Instead of ignoring the facts maybe they can chew on this a while. The 6 ways? OK
    1) The law itself will destroy the parts of the law people like, for example when fully implemented (even if it doesn't comes close to covering the amount of uninsured it claims to help) there will be such a shortage of doctors and specialists that even though people with pre-existing conditions have to be covered they will have to wait so long to see a doctor (months to possibly over a year) they might have well not been covered at all. (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/29/healt … .html?_r=0)
    2) It already costs 3 times what it was estimated when it passed and will eventually cost even more and have to be paid with by higher taxes.
    3) It doesn't address the real problems with escalating health costs which tort reform and competition over state lines would easily have solved without huge Government spending. http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/05/health/yo … index.html
    http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB1 … 3109310680
    4) Since Obama and the top Democraps "miss-spoke" about "you can keep your doctor and your healthcare plan if you like them" (for how often over how many years - 3+) when all the time KNOWING that they were lying, whoops, I mean miss-speaking, why should we believe anything they said about the law?
    5) They have shown total incompetence and government waste in implementing the bill so far holding no one accountable for utter failures.
    6) As any intelligent person who knows anything about our healthcare system and how to fix it will tell you (eg Dr. Ben Carson) Obamacare is Not the Way Intelligent People Do Things http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eco5oQV8Iz4

Obamacare is not about healthcare.  Its about perverse view of social justice.  It will not do anything to increase the quality or availability of healthcare. Healthcare was more affordable and more available before the gov't entered the healthcare market in 1965 as an actual provider.  Today they have so distorted prices by shifting cost that Dr's will gladly charge 40-50% less if you pay cash just not to have to deal with the gov't red tape.

One example of how they screwed up the system is a recent incident I had with my father.  He is a diabetic and medicare is his required coverage.  A few years ago medicare decided that if you had secondary employer coverage as he did, they would pick up the cost for all the testing strips.  Of course the private insurers have no problem letting the gov't pick up the cost.  Last month my father went to the local pharmacy to get his renewal and he was denied because he is now required to submit a log of his blood results to his doctor first, who then must submit it to medicare, and then hope that they call you back sometime in the next century.  AKA...you've just been rationed.  That is how they cut costs.  Make it impossible for you to get what you need.

The next step, as Dr's leave gov't insurance, will be a mandate proposed to make Dr's take Medicare/Medicaid.  Then they'll just start retiring, and nobody will want to enter the field.  So the criteria to be a Dr will have to drop.   If they don't pass such laws  then Dr's will continue to opt out of insurance, and  those enrolling in this gov't subsidized coverage will have insurance that few providers will accept. Which is clearly not healthcare.  Really just a huge cost to the taxpayer.

The US has consistently had the best results in the survival of nearly every major disease from cancer to heart disease.   People often cite things like the WHO study that gave the US poor rankings.  Except those rankings where not based on results by rather an interpretation of "fairness"   In fact the famous WHO study that came out back in 2000 ranked the US very poorly.  Yet a look inside the study shows the US was ranked Number ONE in the areas of "Responsiveness to Patient Needs, Choices of Providers, Dignity, Autonomy, Timely Care, & Confidentiality"   In fact the lower ranking was due to being penalized for things like HSA accounts.

The problem has always been a cost issue.  And cost is never brought down by making the gov't a participant in the market place.

    1. The President deceitfully claimed obamysnare would cut healthcare costs, but it actually increases them.
    2. The President deceitfully stated that you could keep your doctor if you liked them, but actually under obamysnare you cannot.
    3. The President deceitfully stated that you could keep your insurance if you liked it, but under obamysnare you cannot.
    4. According to the OMB & CBO obamysnare will increase the National Debt by more than $1.7 trillion dollars in 5 years.
5, According to the American Medical Association, obamysnare does not provide any additional healthcare workers.
    6. Many poor people who sign up for obamysnare will find that there are no doctors, nurses, or facilities added to support them. So they will continue to invade the emergency room as before.
The insurance exchanges created by the government are equipped to collect money from those who sign up for insurance.  However, few paying sign ups have occurred.  Therefore, the exchanges will now add much more to the National Debt than was estimated by the OMB and CBO.
    Waste-Waste-Waste = Happy Pork-Fed Socialists in the People's House.
The country does not need obamysnare, it needs more hospitals and/or other medical facilities that offer very low cost and/or free health care?
This is the solution that is properly operated, funded, and managed by intelligent people.
The citizenry is what makes this the greatest nation in the world.
The political pork like obamysnare is what makes it almost impossible to get anything done.
While the President deceived his worshippers and spent all his time on a failure, the nation slide further into recession on the path to depression.

All of these are incorrect but I will just illustrate with one. This is the CBO report on PPACA budgeting. It is set to REDUCE the deficit not increase it, stop lying.

I have studied USA budgets 40 years.
ACA budget is filled with fantasy figures.
Estimates in ACA are overstated by $500B yearly.
This is due to false estimates for healthy people purchasing.
      revenue = short by .5T
      TRUTH is better than fiction.

"According to the OMB & CBO obamysnare will increase the National Debt by more than $1.7 trillion dollars in 5 years." That is a lie, you don't even know the definition of truth, and sorry but I trust the CBO analysis over yours, way way over.

Obamacare is not increasing my insurance.  My insurance is not changing and I am not being dropped.  Obama said we could keep our insurance and I am.  How is that lie?

How About citing an updated CBO estimate.  Not that it matters since they were off by about 6 fold in their initial medicare estimates.

suzettenaples Really? SO you are keeping your existing plan with NO changes? Your co pays haven't gone up and your deductible hasn't gone through the roof and the coverage is the same? Well if so give it time, most who willbe dropped haven't been yet

The gross cost is offset by a bunch of unrealistic variables. Didn't the CBO also say that Medicare was going to cost about 12 billion by 1990 and it turned out to be about 100 billion by 1990.  Can you name one projection they made that was accurate

    Hello,
I have to agree with you on this topic. Our health care shouldn't be ran by the government or our employer. Why should our employer be involved in our healthcare? There not involved in our car insurance. We should be able to pick our health care like we pick our car insurance. Free market if you will. Open competition and you pay what you can afford. Now the burden is on the 20 somethings in college and anyone who is not covered. Yes, these kids can stay on there parent's policy but sometimes that ends up being almost a house payment. Also when I was that age I rarely got sick. It was the one time in my life I didn't really need it. Basically they are making a group of people pay for something they may not need and they have a student loan too, in a job market that is not good.

Well said Cara. Solutions usually are very simple as conveyed in your sentiments about this. Some among us seem to think that a 3000 page bill no one can read and understand producing 30,0000 pages of rules and regulations is the way to go? Go figure
