What are the POSITIVE & NEGATIVE aspects of Conservatism & Liberalism? What are the

ways that both Conservatism & Liberalism has become MORE EXTREME in the United States during the late 20th & early 21st centuries?

Liberals have moved from classic liberalism of "I disagree with you but will die for your right to disagree with me" to "our views are based on love, your views must be due to hate, shut up with your hate speech when you disagree with me, we have to ban hate speech because disagreeing on anything is bad, yeah, fascism in the name of love!"

There are no longer any positive aspects of either because the country needs to be a blend of both for the purpose of serving the country and the people. As it stands they only serve to promote the party, and we have to divergent parties, but only one country. So the parties and their ideologies are dividing the country worse than slavery did causing the Civil War.
The country is divided Red and Blue when it should be shades of Purple.
They make the country move from left to right and back instead of forward.

Perhaps, as a conservative, I am more pragmatic than most. I look for solutions to our problems and don't appease some liberals for their good intentions. I also don't see conservative or liberal policies as "extreme" per se. If a policy works and solve a problem, I don't treat it differently because it came from conservatives or liberals. In fact, I think the main problem with the current generation is the people who are in the middle, sitting on the fence, not taking a stance because they don't want to offend. I wrote a hub on defending "extreme" conservative positions.

I think it is better to identify white, black and grey areas instead of leaving all to grey. Then nothing gets solved.

I have to ask when you have seen any government policy actually solve a problem? I don't know of any, seriously, I don't.
