What exactly should a white person do about his or her White Privilege?

Should white people feel guilty for being white?  Should they come to terms with the fact that they are automatically racist?  If they don't are they "part of the problem?"  How exactly can a white person get rid of or alleviate his or her white privilege to make other races happy?

A stand for righteousness would be the Christ-like way to act. Avoid being part of the problem, and use whatever privilege you can to help others. We should all stick together against police brutality, especially if the person being confronted by cops has no weapons. Stand together, because terrorist don't care if we are Black or White they just want to kill as many that they can. The police shootings are not a Black and White issue, it's a right and wrong issue, hatred by murdering can never be right.

I really like Ann's response. When we focus on the ugly parts that extremists in the media are ranting about - we fall into their propaganda pit that keeps us all whipped up for profits. Any way to stir things up so that we'll STAY angry, hateful, judgemental and above all PROFITABLE - is the law of the land.

Stop putting their kids through college, Loli. Put your attention toward stuff that makes you feel GOOD - like how people unite & support each other around the bad stuff, if you just can't stay away from stories like this.

Because while it is cool to stay informed and be concerned about the injustices happening to humankind; adding your attention to the ugly things only magnifies them more - both within yourself and your world around you. People are naturally good - all of us, no matter what color our skin is. None of us are guilty of 'white privilege' unless we choose to embrace the label.

Rather there's White privileges or Black privileges in certain areas of life, only privilege that really matters is having favor in God's eye when it's all said and done.

The "white privilege" issue says that whites today have to take on collective guilt for the sins of their ancestors but not collective credit for accomplishments. It also advocates punishing the innocent, discriminating and emotionally abusing children today for demographic characteristics they have no control over.
The people advocating this view are not in favor of equality. Their definition of justice is to invert the social pyramid of the 1950s to put the descendants of the oppressed group dominant over the descendants of the oppressing group, ignoring the hundreds of thousands of white men who died to end slavery, the Republicans killed by the KKK, the large portion of the nation that never owned slaves and opposed it.
There is no obligation to do anything about "white privilege" except oppose the racist class based system its advocates propose. It wants to institute a system where your skin color determines your opportunities to work, school, even your social status as to when you have to defer to someone else's opinion.
It is like dhimmitude in Islam with a hierarchy of social privileges and legal rights outlined in Shariah law - but without the ability to move up the chain by conversion to Islam. The best a white person can do in a "social justice" world is be tolerated by non-whites because they self-flagellate enough to be seen as suitable for public. Demonize your own tribe enough, and like Christians in the Middle East, you'll be the token Christian in the Cabinet or put in charge of your own tribe by your superiors.

Tamara, whites today have the chance to make it right for their own souls for what that ancestors have done to other nationalities. If you see police getting ready to do something wrong to someone, record it with your phones. And help bring awareness

As a white woman, I have black friends, and many other colorful friends. One friend is from Brazil with curly hair that she sometimes tries to straighten, just like my curly-haired Irish daughter. I don't know or care whether my friend is considered black.

My friends and I have fun together. We live, love, and laugh together. However, in general society, the anger and hatred I have in the past and continue to receive from some black people is stunning.

I've done nothing to these people. If I smile at them pure hatred is returned. At times, the only thing protecting me was the knowledge that they would answer to the legal system. As a juror, a black police officer was once the worst. If I look the other way I'm accused of thinking myself better. If I "look through" them I'm accused of not acknowledging them as people. All these accusations to deal with and I don't even know them!

I don't know if my ancestors were slave owners or slaves, racist democrats or republicans working in various ways to end slavery in America and be an example to the rest of the world. I don't know if some of them gave their lives in their efforts to end slavery or if they died with hate filled hearts.

However, I do know that today I would be friendly to everyone. I know that I try to remain friendly even if my friendliness is refused. Automatically racist? It's a false accusation intended to make society submit to giving certain black people an excuse to be angry and get by with subsequent behaviors. That is never a solution to issues.

Black people say that such and such happened to them because of their skin color. Well, such and such was committed against me because I am a woman. Such and such has been perpetrated against me by black people because I am white. Now that I am closing in on the so-called golden years, I am treated in certain ways because I am no longer young. Even my white hair is an affront!

I don't blame all men, all black people, all police, all youth for the sins of some in their category. By God's grace, I even have a level of compassion for those who commit wrongs against me, my loved ones, or friends. I don't choose to spend my time stirring others up against these people. No one would benefit from it. I'm going forward in a profitable manner. I choose kindness to all. I choose to help where I can.

Stirring up hatred is criminal… Alas, my word count ends my thoughts on this for now...

RTalloni, there are Blacks that feel the same way you feel, but dealing with Whites that are actually racists. That's all we can do is be kind and go forward in a positive manner. We can't allow hatred and violent people to totally affect us.

A, I have had to deal with blacks who are actually racist, who were violently dangerous in attitude and behavior. We have to be honest about all sides of the issues if we are to go forward in a positive manner. Did you read all of my response?

I obviously read your whole response, I'm only allowed 250 characters when responding. That's my point, it should be good against evil, not white against black. But the law of attraction is real, reaping and sowing is in the Bible. I choose positivit
