   Trump supporters - do you see any reason to remain in the GOP after the leaderships desertion?
   
   The leadership in the GOP have basically deserted Trump.
   They've said, "The people that make up the GOP are idiots, and we refuse to support Trump."
   They've raised their middle finger to us all, and told us to get lost.
   Will you continue to support the deserters?
   Is there a viable alternative to the liberal, socialist agenda that the Democrats are shoving down our throats?
   Is there a viable alternative to the GOP's leadership that are ignoring what the base of the GOP want?
   Trump draws thousands of people and yet the GOP elite state that they know better.

   The biggest problem the media, the news, and even many normal, less than politically active Americans have... is that they cannot put this election into a nice neat box of "US vs THEM" or of "Rep VS Dem".
   
   This was from the very beginning of Trump's campaign an Outsider VS the Establishment effort.
   
   Trump has spent as much time exposing the corruption within the GOP, the collusion between Republican politicians like Paul Ryan who has actually gone out of his way to thwart Conservative efforts in Congress and to help Obama get what he wants... the efforts on both sides of the aisle to pass bills like TPP, TTiP, WTO which in the future will rip jobs away from Americans with a speed and tenacity not seen since NAFTA was passed and plants closed all over America as they moved to Canada and Mexico.
   
   Trump is not the most articulate speaker, he is not PC, he is not even someone I believe is prepared to be President... but the alternative is just more of the same in Washington, actually it will be worse than it ever has been, there is no one more corrupt, more willing to sell out America's interests and America's future than Hillary Clinton.
   
   Clinton will favor Corporations over Americans, she will favor Globalism over Nationalism, open borders vs immigrant restrictions, and all this leads to more competition for what jobs are available, it means corporations can move their companies to foreign nations, shipping back their goods without fear of taxes or tariffs being placed on them, it means more regulations more taxes which one way or another always fall on the working middle class, not her rich buddies on Wall st.
   
   This is a 'soft revolution' Trump and Bernie... the majority of their supporters no longer believe in either the Democrats or Republicans, after a quarter century of this country moving in the same direction regardless of who held power people are waking up to the realization that they are ALL dancing to the tune of lobbyists, Foreign supporters, powerful corporations, etc... for years they talked about closing borders, re-writing NAFTA, stopping Obamacare... take your pick of promises, the Republicans have stopped none of them... and the Dems haven't exactly helped anyone rise out of poverty or created an economic boom with millions of great new jobs during their last decade of control in Congress/White House.

      Based on our decline since the 70s and our continuing wars, and losing them all who would you say were presidential candidates that were prepared to be presidents. My point is that saying Trump isn't prepared puts him in with the pro politicians.

      So, your feelings are that the GOP does not deserve support anymore?
      I know that Trump is the outsider, but does that mean the GOP is done?

      Actually Obama got very little support from Democrats on TPP. Elizabeth Warren and other Democrats along with Bernie Sanders were very outspokenly against it.
      As noted neither party is standing on "holy ground".

      John I have never bought into one party or the other, so much as looked at the choices and voted for who I thought was best... usually at the end of the day, I don't think it has mattered much. Rep or Dem very little +ps impact is made for Americans.

      That's why  I think everyone who used to support the GOP should stop, look at viable alternatives. And really, I see nothing out there that has a chance in hell of saving the country.

   Let me answer as the 30 year GOP "elitist" that I am.  There are certain core beliefs to being a Republican, namely:
   1. Free Trade
   2. Strong military alliances (i.e. NATO)
   3. Rule of law
   
   I'm strong supporter of all three.  Trump fails the first two.  I never considered him a Republican.  Under cutting all of this is an obvious racism streak (by some, not all).  It's undeniable.  A large portion of his support is based on immigrant bashing.  That's not Republicanism. If it puts the party out of power for years, so be it. But I don't want that in the party. 
   
   Many of his supporters in four years will be either retired or near retirement age. Their views will change.  Anger may subside. Probably not.
   
   Those jobs lost are never coming back. Any elected official or Trump, who tells you otherwise, is lying.  Unless those workers want to come back at very reduced wages.  It's sad, but reality.  Protectionism does not work. Isolationism does not work.
   
   I think I'll probably be the one "elitist" to comment, but it should be fun to hear the responses.  But have not fear, living in WA state, my vote does really count.

      Both parties are corrupt and dysfunctional as are their loyal party voters who followed them like sheep instead of guiding them to excellence and prosperity for the US. Trump took down all contenders, as they were all weak. Look where we are today

      NATO - Europe needs protection from what enemy? Russia, China?
      Free trade - I don't see free trade agreements, but lopsided ones that put the U.S. at a disadvantage
      GOP elite should ignore it's supporters

      1. NATO - Counters both Russian and Chinese expansion. Forces in Europe protect EE. and their naval forces patrol southeast Asia. The Adm. Kuznetzov deployed this morning for Syria. 
      
      2. TPP - Helps counter China throughout Asia.

      What threat is China and Russia?
      They bombing in Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan. Libya and Somalia?
      RS took part of Ukraine after U.S. intervention
      Georgia - kind of iffy.
      TPP - another lopsided agreement.
      We are not world police.

      CJ that is why the GOP is irrevocably fractured, free trade means lower wages, less jobs, open borders... hard working Americans don't need a PhD in economics to see we have lower wages, less benefits, fewer jobs per American than we had 20 years ago

   There has been a divide in the GOP for several years prior to Trump's announcement to run for president.
   The "Tea Party" Republicans had been at war with the "Established Republicans" for almost eight years.
   I do believe it's possible for someone to remain a Republican based upon being pro-life, cutting taxes/regulations, having a strong military, supporting the 2nd amendment, cutting the debt, and being against marriage equality.
   What would you call someone who identifies with those principles?
   Essentially you have people like Paul Ryan, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and John Kasich who consider themselves to be staunch conservative Republicans but also respect the established governing process and believe you can be friends with the opposition party leaders while disagreeing with them on principles and find common ground on others.
   The "Tea Party Republicans" morphed into Trump supporters not because they agree with Trump concerning a lot of his policies that frankly are not conservative. They want to "shake things up"!
   No more "bipartisan agreements" or compromises. It's all or nothing!
   One Trump supporter recently attending a Pence speech said:
   "If Hillary wins I'm prepared to start a revolution!"
   When asked what she meant by that she said:
   "I'm in favor the 2nd amendment."
   (Pence looked at her like she was crazy.)
   There was a time where there was such as thing as "Conservative Democrats" and "Moderate Republicans". However these days both parties seem to want to get rid of "the middle" of their organizations.
   You either want to "scorch the earth" or you're not one of us!
   The truth of the matter is the majority of the country is not extreme conservative and the established Republicans know in order to win a {general election} you have to be able to garner "independents" and moderates.
   Gallup polling in 2010 found that 31% of Americans identified as Democrats, 29% as Republicans, and 38% as independents.
   Those independents aren't likely to favor a  "flip the tables over" approach to governing. The established GOP is looking to avoid being swept out of control in the Senate and Congress.
   They  don't want to go down with Trump. Many Republicans don't consider Trump to be a "true conservative".
   Historically Republicans have been in favor big trade deals because it was believed to be good for business. They also favored regime change whenever it looked like it may benefit U.S. security. They also support NATO ally agreements.

      GOP "leaders" have had 8 years to groom some one that made sense, they failed.
      The GOP had a chance to stop some of omamama's socialist agenda, they failed.
      The GOP gave the middle finger to supporters, end for me!

      I like this well thought out reply... but for many of us, it is more, we understand that open borders, free trade, no taxes or tariffs on imports DOOM the American worker to lower wages, less jobs, less benefits, etc.  we are against Washington's cor

      John, I'm not sure what you mean about Obama's socialist agenda. The only major legislation he got passed was Obama care and no Republicans voted for it!
      The GOP doesn't have the votes to overturn a presidential veto on bills to throw it out.

   These GOP elites don't have the courage to back what they say they believe therefore they no longer deserve our support. They've pretty much caved to the liberals agenda on every turn. For all I know they may be fellow beneficiaries with the liberals of our corrupted system. 
   
   Trump at least has the courage of his convictions and stands up for much of what conservatives claim to believe. Who else brought up the lawless flooding of our borders and is willing to take on the corrupt political media establishment?
   
   Trump is all that stands between us and a lawless Supreme Court for a generation, a politically correct near police state and national bankruptcy for our children's children. We have to stop Hillary and the lawless radical left now, four years from now will likely be too late. For those who think that they can wait four to eight years for a perfect candidate are only they're kidding themselves.
