Are you convinced Sandy Hook happened or was it a hoax?

In 2012, newscasts nationwide abruptly stopped their regular programming to focus on an event which at the time was called a massacre; a school shooting but this time, one at an elementary school, had everyone on the edge of their seats.  But years later, not everyone is convinced that the event actually happened - the fact that we have no video of the shooter, no photos of the shooter, no video or photos of the victims, and no blood seems enough to convince a lot of people that the event was staged, however the reasons are not clear.  What's your opinion?

I never gave much thought to it possibly being a hoax.

To pull off a hoax of this magnitude would require quite a number of people sworn to secrecy.   That many people would make it nearly impossible to keep the hoax part a secret.

Mike, think Manhattan Project, even VP Truman didn't know about it until FDR died.

This seemed to be too complex to be staged. I don't think people of this area would stand for a hoax. I believe that at times events are overexaggerated by certain entities to gain favor for certain beliefs for interests. This was a tough one.

I think it's incredibly disrespectful to the families who lost their children to pretend that it never happened. Can you imagine being so fanatical about something that you're willing to exploit dead children and their grieving parents? It's disgusting, though unfortunately not surprising. Equally disgusting is the fact that people feel entitled to see the blood of slaughtered kids before paying them any respect.

the thought that someone would even start a rumor like this. makes me sick. I talked to a man whose relative went to the school. people need to stop and show some respect.

No disrespect, but there is a healthy list of things which just don't add up, plus they bulldozed the school right afterwards.

Do you know the reason why? That was done so parents and friends won't have to look at the building where thier children died. Please leave these families alone. And there is nothing healthy about it.

How could children go back to a school where they had feared for their lives and watched friends and teachers brutally slaughtered?  And how could parents send them to such a place?  Of course they bulldozed it and build a new facility.

What doesn't add up, exactly? That no one decided to release photos or video of children being shot to death or laying dead in the halls? How people don't feel absolutely VILE demanding that kind of proof is beyond me.

A charity website page was launched on Dec. 11th, 2012, a full 3 days before the event - Also why is there a big electronic "everyone must check in sign" in front of the school - this is why some call it a staged event/drill

The "everyone must check in" sign was from an interview four days AFTER the shooting. Time stamps on websites are frequently incorrect.

A little fact checking goes a long way.

As I had been going to Newtown for a writing group for over a year and was known to some who lived there I was honored to be asked to do what I could to help the families after the shooting.  This was along with Ct. Governor Dannel Malloy and others.  I can assure you, it was no hoax.
When the shooting stopped 20 children ages 6-7 years old and six adults were dead leaving parents and the entire community devastated. Newtown is a very tight knit, private community and didn't want a lot of outsiders, even those who wanted to help, coming in when this occurred.  The Governor helped ensure coverage was limited and controlled.  The so called lack of evidences is not actually a lack - it simply wasn't released to the public.  I know the Governor ensured the funerals remained private.  This went on for a full year and even the Memorial held at the year anniversary was kept very private.  Remember that the children killed were only 6 and 7 years old.
Now there are plenty of stories, pictures etc.including footage of the Sandy Hook shooting scene released by police.  I feel that the stories of this being a hoax are written by people who are just trying to get people to read their material at the expense of the families and community who have suffered and mourned their children and teachers lost in the heinous attack.  I don't believe there has ever been information about the motive of the shooter but then, of course, he also died so they couldn't interview him afterwards and evidently there was nothing turned up during the investigation.
No one should ever know what it is like to stand outside an elementary school knowing that there is someone inside shooting and not knowing if their child will come out alive or not.  I think we have a responsibility to not create or spread false accounts of things even if it is done in the form of a question.  This community suffered a massacre that is unthinkable to most of us.  They deserve our respect and support even if the support needed is privacy.

You are so right. This kind of thing makes me really sad. Why anyone would even start this kind of garbage and call it a hoax is beyond me. My heart aches for everyone involved. The terror every parent went through that day is unthinkable.

I believe this happened. While people have the right to not believe, I find it sad and troubling that anyone would. What about the people whose children died? What about the people injured and traumatized by what they heard and/or saw?

Perhaps the most egregiously tragic event in a decade, I was literally physically ill and carried a heavy heart for months due this insane massacre.  The magnitude of such shock and horror is too much for a human to bear.
I don't know "who" and surely could never understand why any person would choose to create an outrageously cruel & unforgivable story, suggesting a hoax.  Another outrage too unbearable to read and attempt to process.
The degree of mental derangement and sadistic thought process to come up with the hoax tale, blows the mind of a normal individual.
Yes, I did read it all~~or should I say, as much as I could force myself to stomach?
To that sick demented person (or persons) I can barely conger up the words to lash at them.  Yet, I don't believe any one so severely mentally ill, could understand nor be affected by a single comment.  I choose not to give them another second's worth of time nor attention.  What I believe they deserve for spreading such venom cannot be written on a public site.
Not for a single nano-second did I consider one outlandish, maniacal word of the "hoax" tale to be true.  My entire heart & saddened soul was with those parents, siblings, teachers, classmates & community when tragedy struck...and once again when they were forced to learn of such evilness spewed by psychotic monsters........Paula
