This post is for Conservatives, discerning, independents, & other thinking people regardless of political affiliation. The Democratic Party has turned America into a nanny state w/an intrusive government in terms of social programs & government health care. The Democratic Party believes that government should be the ultimate answer for social problems. There are some in the Democratic Party who feel that the party has not gone far enough to address so-called social inequity. Is it the goal of the Democratic Party or the DEMONcratic Party to turn America into one big WELFARE & NANNY state? When is enough ENOUGH?
I am excited about the prospect of getting Republicans out of Senate control and the White House in 2020 and am working diligently toward that goal in every way possible.
You and me both. Our local Democratic party is even making inroads in my heavily right-wing rural county, thanks to Donnie's ineptitude and corruption.
Yeah, let the Democratic Party a/k/a Socialist Party further put America in.......DISREPAIR...........okay............(being sarcastic, rolling eyes). We need the Republicans to set off the excesses, stupidity, & immaturity of the current Democrats in the Senate & White House. The Republicans seem to be more logical than the Democrats at THIS POINT!
Logic is in the eye of the beholder, isn't it?
That Obamacare you so despise was a compromise from Democratic ideals to appease the Republicans who couldn't abide the demise of blood-sucking insurance companies. More Americans now support Medicare for All. It will happen and the world will not come to an end just like it didn't when Social Security was enacted. Remember death panels? Yrah, that was logical, wasn't it?
Let us demolish Obamacare. Make healthcare the responsibility of the individual. Let the individual pay for his/her healthcare, not have the government MANDATE healthcare. The government is here to enforce laws, not pay for healthcare & other social amenities. Health care isn't a right, like housing. If one wants something, pay for it himself/herself. That is my thinking. The world doesn't owe one anything.
I would like to add that if people were more responsible for their finances, we wouldn't need social security. In my view, the less government, THE BETTER! People ought to learn to LOOK OUT & TAKE CARE of themselves. Liberals have created a parasitic, entitled American society! Oh my God, I am a LIBERAL & am seeing through the Liberal malaise!
I definitely don't support Medicare for all. Let people pay their own health insurance & health needs. The government isn't responsible. Individuals need to be accountable & responsible for themselves- THAT'S THE PROBLEM! TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES, PEOPLE! Grown people shouldn't be taken care of, except themselves. Now America unfortunately has become a gimme, rescue me, & entitled society! This has GOT TO STOP! I PAY ENOUGH TAXES ALREADY! Liberals are KILLING the middle class by these INANE SOCIAL & HEALTH programs. Reduce or eliminate such programs & America would be MUCH BETTER OFF!
If you're a liberal, I'm a Nazi.
Your drama is becoming amusing. Just like death panels, your gloom and doom predictions are a right-wing delusion.
Remember when gay marriage would be the downfall of our culture? Another dire prediction that didn't happen.
Some day we'll all use unisex bathrooms, too. Oh, the horror! Lol
I am a Liberal. I am just not an EXTREME one. Yes, I believe in pro-choice, same sex marriage, women's rights, etc. Have believed in these things since high school! I differ from you in that I believe that people should pay their own way. I don't believe in an INTRUSIVE government. The government has no business being in health care- that is UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL. It is the individual's responsibility to pay for his/her healthcare. It is also up to the individual to foot his/her housing, college, & retirement, not the government. I believe in LESS government & people DOING FOR SELVES. Oh yes, I am a staunch liberal, not the radical left liberal of today!
No, Grace, from the vast majority of postings, you are anything but liberal.
So, I guess that makes both me and Panther wide eyed radical liberal extremists?
You took the words out of my mouth. I am Liberal. There are many types of Liberal- I am a DISCERNING one. As you stated yourself, you are MORE EXTREME, even RADICAL which I am NOT! I believe in people doing for themselves, not depending upon the government for things they can do themselves. I was raised not to depend upon the government but to do for oneself. My West Indian father stressed not to ever be dependent on anyone. Dependent people are SLAVES. Well, if you want to be a slave of the government, be my guest Credence2. I will ALWAYS do for self! Liberals aren't all alike, thank God! Touche!
Not another one of those 19th century fossils? Would you not have found the introduction of Social Security or Medicare as part of the so-called nanny state you keep going on about?
Radical, me, I would think not. I am left of center and I admit that. With your attitude, any mainstream Democrat is a radical. I am satisfied that I am free enough relative to the Government and if there is slavery to be imposed it will be from the Right and those that seek to have us all in economic chains.
It is good to be free of the government. It is good to be middle class & make one's way. Credence2, you are one of the lucky ones like me. Dependence upon the government makes one a...…….SLAVE. That is something to be AVOIDED. That is why I am against programs like Obama"care" & many of the inane social/welfare programs.
You are a social liberal and an economic conservative, sounds like to me.
I am tired of being characterized as promoting a nanny state just because I believe it benefits everyone for a society as wealthy as ours to ensure that poor people don't die or suffer ill health just because they can't afford comprehensive health care.
That is life. It is up to the individual to pay for his/her healthcare. I shouldn't have to pay for healthcare via taxes to ascertain that a poor people gets healthcare. If a person can't afford comprehensive health care, tough. People have to learn to be RESPONSIBLE for themselves! I can't stress this enough. There is such a thing as doing without. There is nothing wrong w/doing without. Poor people have done this for centuries. They sucked it up, they didn't expect others to take care of them. This made them stronger & gave them the incentive to IMPROVE themselves! I think we should RETURN to that philosophy!
Your going to pay the piper one way or the other. Can you envision a scene from Dickens of beggars all over the place? There are plenty of civilized and advanced societies that make universal health care work for their citizens and do not make a big deal over it. You don't know what awaits you tomorrow and how your circumstances can change overnight. So, are you to be left out in the cold to starve due to no fault of your own?
If I don't pay, it will be my fault. No one owes anyone anything. Do or starve is my motto & this includes ME. I take responsibility for my life. I don't believe in universal health care but individual health care. Either you can pay or you can't. If you can't, do WITHOUT!
Pretty cold. I'm glad I live in a world where most people recognize the inhumanity of that position.
It isn't really inhumane. The world isn't or shouldn't take care of you. You must do this yourself. You have to plan your life strategically. You have to get the education to fit into the relevant market. You can go helter skelter through life. One has to make life, not let life make him/her. It is the survival of the fittest. Those who are the fittest rule while those who aren't get eaten.
To add: going off topic here-in the 21st century, survival mode is going to be much tougher than it was in the 20th century. Those who have the educational & skill set will thrive while those who have less education & skills won't thrive. Education & skill sets will be more specialized than ever before. Even those w/unspecified college educations will become part of the new underclass. This is an undeniable fact of life. The world is about to get harsher- either one survives or...……...GO UNDER! NEXT..... The world is not about to hold anyone's hand. If one can't do for & prepare oneself, h/she will GO UNDER, no doubt about it!
Sire, but even the fittest can benefit from help now and then, and most of the fittest are quite willing to give help to others, too. I would be happy for my tax money to go for Medicare for All instead of toward a bloated defense budget or a stupid wall. It's all about priorities, isn't it? It shocks me when people spend so much time grousing about their tax money helping people but nary a peep about it being spent to occupy other countries and kill people.
I would like my tax monies to go to me like many middle class people do. Medicare for all? Are you kidding me? The hell w/medicare for all. Let people pay for themselves- let us apply this principle. Each tub sits on its own bottom.
Thankfully, even many conservatives do not think a poor person should be denied health care because they cannot pay.
As always, Panther, your talons are as sharp as ever.
I read an interesting articles about conservatives being 'frightened' of cities and what their diverse residents represent. The problem is that this trend continues even in major metropolitan areas away from either coastline and well into the heartland. For example, the blue flu is catching and will overcome Texas within a handful of years....
So that the current Democrats can further BANKRUPT America by implementing MORE INANE social & health policies like the good ole disaster, Obama"care"? C'mon be reasonable, Cred!
When compared to the "old Democratic party," it is obvious there is no party. Just a bunch of want to be's bumping into each other. They have no real agenda to offer Americans. The Republicans that hold office don't look much better. Guess that's why Trump won. Something new seemed appealing.
