Who is/was the WORST United States President? List your reasons why this person was the worst president? Is/was it this person's socioeconomic policies regarding America? How is/was this person's attitude towards the American people?
All presidents were elected by the majority of the people. All presidents spoke to the majority at the time.
Q. What inspires people to vote for the presidents they choose?
A. The beliefs at the time.
What were the beliefs at the time of Donald Trump's election?
How can people not see that the concerns of the people won him the election? What were their concerns?
Why did the majority elect him?
The beliefs of the people = the needs of the people.
It is important to consider the way things change and the reason for the changes.
For instance, why the sudden upsurge in the desire for shared wealth and equality?
WHY?
I think George W. Bush was the worst POTUS in recent history. He depended on Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld too much and got us in that war in Iraq we never should have been in anyway, giving the public false information. People think he was so great on 9/11, but he got Bin Ladin relatives out of the country within hours, and anyone could have tried to keep up the spirits of the American people as he tried.
I will say as far as the Bush family in general though, they are a class act.
That is easy, the incumbent Donald Trump. As a American Historian this man reminds me so much of the personality and temperament of Andrew Johnson, 17th president. How ironic that Johnson followed a man credited as being the nation's finest example of the Presidency. He has proven himself worse than Johnson and having an administration more corrupt than Warren Harding's, but at least Harding was more naive than a participant as Trump is.
Reason: Trump is the antithesis of what it means to lead, as one who leads from behind, do as I say and not what I do. I despise men like this, my leader sets the example.
He is arrogant and petty, dangerous traits for a man " with his finger on the button".
We have had President's from wealthy backgrounds before, I.e. Roosevelts, Kennedy's.
Bushs....
These men subordinated the interests of the wealth and social class in favor of the common people, serving all people. Not Trump, with his Gold house and 14k solid gold toilet.
His socio-economic policies is a mirror image of his selfish world view.
I have said my piece, thanks....
Repeating:
What were the beliefs at the time of Donald Trump's election?
How can people not see that the concerns of the people won him the election? What were their concerns?
Why did the majority elect him?
Hint: The beliefs of the people = the needs of the people.
It is important to consider the way things change and the reason for the changes.
For instance, why the sudden upsurge in the desire for shared wealth and equality?
WHY?
Another question: Is socialism/social democracy as popular as the Media / Deep State / Left makes it out be?
If it is, WHY would it be so? What would make the liberty-oriented American people want LESS liberty and MORE taxation?
WHY?
Greetings, Kathryn .
I would have to write a treatise to address all of your questions.
The majority did not elect Trump, a slight of hand with the electoral college which appears to be coming more of a tool to thwart the will of the majority and the popular vote. But that is another discussion.
What I saw in 2016 was a large portion of the electorate still insecure about the economy. Trump comes on stage taking with the persona of "the common man" and he is anything but. He speaks the language of staunching the flow of American jobs abroad and revitalizing dying industries. That made about as much sense as trying to resuscitate a corpse. So he talked tough, but the enlightened of the Left knew he was blowing smoke. Technology and the search for lower cost labor, the very things that he routinely availed himself with as part of his empire serves to make his "tough talk" meaningless. The industrial Midwest (rust belt), has never really recovered and Trump offered hope, the hope from a demigouge, but "hope" all the same. Those states that normally voting for Democrats went for Trump and his promises.
Equality and the avoidance of too much wealth in too few hands guarantees that we common people won't have to resort to the guillotine. The system works for them based on the consent of us all. Oligarch and plutocracy is NOT Democracy.
The emphasis on this is in response to these problems reaching unprecedented levels.
If avoiding these aspects of Capitalism that is considered abusive is Socialist then we are guilty. The Right's fear of Socialism is overblown, just an argument from plutocrats who want to further consolidate their wealth and power.
Trump is so bad. Why ... exactly?
"Trump comes on stage taking with the persona of "the common man" and he is anything but.

The question is, has he, so far, helped the nation ... or not?
Has he addressed the concerns of the people who elected him?
"The industrial Midwest (rust belt), has never really recovered and Trump offered hope, the hope from a demigouge, but "hope" all the same. Those states that normally voting for Democrats went for Trump and his promises."
We humans have a tendency to vote for people who promise us what we want them to deliver, and so it was for the mid west states the normally vote Democrat. I'm not convinced that Trump didn't believe he could deliver on the promise to restore lost industrial jobs - there's no proof that his offering that was a lie in his mind. But the short of it is that the Democratic Party was offering them nothing, and the Dems used to be the party of the "working man".
"All presidents were elected by the majority of the people. "
No. Dubya lost the popular vote in 2000; Donnie lost the popular vote in 2016.
You forgot John Quincy Adams (who did not even win the electoral vote, but still became president) and Rutherford B Hays in 1877.
10% of our presidents lost the popular vote but won the election.
Yes, I knew it had happened more than just those two times, but I didnt feel like looking it up. ;-)
Interestingly, the Adams election was unique. Jackson won 99 electoral votes, and the popular vote. Adams won 84 electoral votes and, after the House vote (because no one got over half the electoral votes and Henry Clay, Speak of the House, hated Jackson), the presidency. I had not known that - can you imagine the uproar today? The entire Capital Hill would go up in smoke!
I've been waiting for another election to go to the House for lack of 50% of electoral votes. Now THAT would be entertainment!!
Wouldn't it though? With today's hyper-partisanship there would never be any doubt as to the final winner, and to the uproar that would follow. Might have to shut down the govt. for 4 years to resolve the issue!
Don't you think the House and Senate people shouldn't get paid when they shut the government down?
No one will ever top Obama as the worst "president" in our history.

People are protesting President Elect Trump? Because Hillary won the popular vote by .3% Trump = 47.4%, Hillary = 47.7%, but she lost the electoral college. That means more people voted for Hillary's platform than for Trump's. The electoral college must go. It is outdated and was for a younger...
