Why is Everyone So Worked Up Over the Coronavirus?

Trump is asking for what he will get from the governors he is not only cheating out of federal funding for this virus they do the most paying for, but he is violating states rights when he dares to claim he is "total authority" over governors we elect.

The real joke is how since the Civil War the conservatives were the bastion of states' rights and their battle cry was always "States Rights!"

Notice how suddenly the conservatives have gone deathly silent about Trump violating the 10th Amendment?

As Governor Cuomo said this week, "If Trump tries to reopen NY state before it is safe, he will have a constitutional crisis on his hands.

Now, even the bloody red state of LA's governor is also saying the same thing.

The Right/conservatives are more hypocrites than authentic. Conservatives only speak of "states rights" when it is convenient and it work in favor of their addled agendas.

There was a report done by the Rockefeller Institute back in May 2013 that analyzed which states were donors and which were "moochers."

Dem states get on average 79 cents for every $1 they pay in federal taxes. The moocher states get from $1.52 up to So. Carolina's $7.87 for what they pay in federal taxes.

If our Dem states don't get it, withhold it and let the moochers go under. Who cares?

As it turns out, 13 all Dem states are the donor of federal funding that 37 moocher states need in order to keep their states out of the red.

This puts money power in the hands of 13 Dem states. Right now NY and NJ need every dime of federal funding that is being handed to moocher states.

I've encouraged an army of FB friends to contact their Dem state governors to temporarily earmark ALL federal tax dollars for this virus.

Give Trump what he wants: His very own deep state federal government. Just don't give him one cent of federal tax dollars.

Since it is the states who collect these federal tax dollars before it goes to the Fed, it is perfectly legal for states to earmark as much of federal tax dollars as their states need.

And, by withholding federal taxes now, it protects SS, Medicare and Medicaid all of which an be dispersed by states. Hand it to Trump and it will disappear.

Also, there is no loss of jobs for federal employees. They simply do their jobs in their home states who will need their experience.

Who cares if the for profit wars in military industry states stop eating up 50% of every annual federal budget? Should we care if the polluter states have to use their state taxes for clean up of their pollution?

Should we cry buckets of tears if the prison industry states can't find excuses to pack their prisons to the rafters so they can beg more federal funding?

This is a win win for states rights by cutting out the federal government which in reality is nothing more than a middle man who sends 85% of our federal tax dollars to Republican states ONLY.

If we don't get it fairly. We keep it.

There isn't a single individual in NY or NJ who doesn't know Trump. He is the ultimate grifter wheeler dealer. His nose is always sniffing out profits for himself and his business. That's a legacy that has been a total failure.

He has been sued over 4,000 times in NJ alone for refusing to pay back wages to his hotel and casino workers and dozens of union contractors he hired to work for him and never paid.

But, when he plays doctor prescribing HClq, there is a reason. Check the origin of who is a stockholder of the company who manufactures it.

One of the major reasons he was in no hurry to make the entire medical community prepare in December for this epidemic is so typical of his usual delays...profit.

So he waited until all of the medical equipment and drug deals could be worked out to his advantage. In the meantime, people were dying because of his delays.

One of the major reasons Trump has not gone to jail for the same crimes as Gotti, Scarfo and other Mafiosi is that he was able to afford an army of high profile lawyers like Dershowitz, Kasowitz, Sekulow and Felder.

There isn't a person living in NY or NJ who doesn't know these are his back pocket lawyers and not to mention judges like Napolitano and Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh was the judge here in NJ who oversaw the case of Trump vs. the Casino unions.

Don't wonder why Kavanaugh got the seat on the Supreme Court. The problem for Trump came when his favorite back pocket judge Napolitano was promised that seat on the SC and Trump handed it to Kavanaugh instead.

As Napolitano in a snarky response to being double crossed by Trump said and I quote, "Is that any way to treat a friend?"

LOL  Yeah, his stock ownership in companies that make that drug came out the other day.  He owns shares of a mutual fund that in turn own some stock in drug companies...including some companies that make HClq.  So if that stock goes up so does the mutual fund and Trump makes a few pennies, even though he does not own the stock and has zero control over what the mutual fund buys or sells.

As usual, the stories from the Trump haters are blown completely out of proportion with the intent to convince a reader that something is true (Trump stands to make a fortune with production of HClq) when it simply isn't.  A lie, in other words.

Actually for people who do that it isn’t easy. Their IQs prove it. It’s like a parrot. Easy for them to say things but really hard to know the meaning.

What's your IQ? Judging by the Frank Turek article, I'd say not very high.

How would you evaluate the IQ of somebody who would say this:

"It's like in golf... A lot of people - I don't want this to sound trivial - but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive... it's weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can't sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist."

          Serious question, Mike.

What exactly is your standard for proof? Considering that you linked to some self-published piece of trash on Amazon about Obama's many homosexual affairs, I imagine that standard is quite low. Then there's Ken, whose standard is a guy on Youtube named Lucas.

Is making an accusation without proof very far off from that? Isn't that precisely what you're doing?

            Crank,

            You missed my point entirely.

There is a book that makes the same claims called "Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama" written by a Pulitzer Prize winning author David Garrow.

The point is simply because someone makes an accusation doesn't make it true.

When you are big in society, you become a big target.  President Donald Trump has been a very wealthy and successful man his entire life.  Many people are going to try and take advantage of him or try to tear him down.  It goes with the territory.

I refuse to simply accept what a person says as fact.

Do I think obama had gay relationships? If obama admitted it or there was clearly unalterd photographic evidence, I would consider it.  Other than that, it is simply an allegation.

How many times do people have to link to a lawsuit filed saying that President Donald Trump raped a 13 year old girl...BUT they fail to realize it's been filed twice and withdrawn twice without a judges ruling.  How many people actually look a little further and realize in the document, it claims the girl told her father about the alleged rape.  How many realize, as a father, if your 13 year old daughter tells you she's been raped...you file a law suit?  You don't go to the authorities?  A little bit of thinking would reveal this claim as quite bogus.  It is an unfounded accusation.  I need more proof than a person's words.

Do I believe that obama did drugs?  Yes.  Why?  He said so himself.

"When I was a teenager I used drugs, I drank, I pretty much tried whatever was out there. But I was in Hawaii and it was a pretty relaxed place," Obama told the rapper.

"I was lucky that I did not get addicted except to cigarettes which took me a long time to kick. But it does seem as if the speed in which you can get hooked on opiate-based medicines is fierce," the president said.

Well, Mike, I'm glad I missed your point and that you've clarified. It just worries me that you read stuff like that Amazon book you linked to. I don't read sources that would expose me to something like that.

Again though, you kind of avoided the question. What is your standard? Like for climate change for instance. Your standard seems to be a very narrow number of people who claim climate change is a hoax while most of the world's climate scientists say otherwise.

So your standard would appear to be accept any fringe opinion if he aligns with your thinking?

              1. Readmikenow profile image95

First things first, the Amazon book was used as an example of how anybody can make an allegation and that doesn't make it true.  So, I think using the Amazon book was a good way to make my point.

When it comes to climate change, there are three different schools of thought.  One says there is no climate change, another says there is no man made climate change and the last says there is only man made climate change.

So, do the majority of scientists believe in the last one?  Interesting article from Forbes magazine.  You see, the 97 percent is based on two articles.  It is based on 928 papers with the word climate change in them.

"The 97% number was popularized by two articles, the first by Naomi Oreskes, now Professor of Science History and Affiliated Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University, and the second by a group of authors led by John Cook, the Climate Communication Fellow for the Global Change Institute at The University of Queensland. Both papers were based on analyses of earlier publications. Other analyses and surveys arrive at different, often lower, numbers depending in part on how support for the concept was defined and on the population surveyed.

This public discussion was started by Oreskes’ brief 2004 article, which included an analysis of 928 papers containing the keywords “global climate change.” The article says “none of the papers disagreed with the consensus position” of anthropogenic global warming. Although this article makes no claim to a specific number, it is routinely described as indicating 100% agreement and used as support for the 97% figure.

In the strict sense, the 97% consensus is false, even when limited to climate scientists. "

                https://www.forbes.com/sites/uhenergy/2 … 0c9f011576

See, my standard is higher than just accepting headlines in news stories.  I want to know how the consensus was created and what is was based on.

                Can you say the same?

              2. crankalicious profile image90

The Forbes link is good, Mike.

The problem is, the link says the consensus is more likely between 80 and 90%, but to some people, that's justification to question the validity of the overall claim. You'd rather go with the 10-20% on this one?

The evidence for man-made climate change is overwhelming. The science behind global warming and increased CO2 in the atmosphere is also irrefutable. But by bringing up fringe opinion, oil companies and others get to distract people from the truth in the science, making them question science, scientists, how science works; etc.

And not surprisingly, we find ourselves in our present situation because the very foundation for how we determine truth is questioned and maligned and that foundation is eroded and crumbling. Agencies that promote sound scientific practice are maligned, defunded, eliminated; etc.

"The problem is, the link says the consensus is more likely between 80 and 90%"

Are you happy with the method used to determine this being scanning 998 papers for the word climate change and then when that is found, it is listed as someone who believes in man made climate change?

Sorry, that method is a bit inaccurate for my taste.  I think when looking at all the facts and the methodology used to obtain it, that is a real bogus number.

Based on your logic, Galileo should have been labeled anit-science.

"Galileo Galilei was tried in 1633 for spreading the heretical view that the Earth orbits the sun, convicted by the Roman Catholic Inquisition, and remained under house arrest until his death. "

Why don't more scientists come forward with their lack of belief of man made global warming?  Punishment.

                  https://www.wsj.com/articles/punishing- … 1458772173

Those scientists who have disagreed have lost their jobs, been denied funding for their projects, subject to death threats and more.

Galileo was crushed by the Roman Catholic church, who paid the scientists of the day and punished those who did not agree with them.

Today,  we have the left.  They are the same as the Roman Catholic church of time of Galileo and just as dedicated to have everyone believe as they do no matter what.

And if you look at his words, his actual words, they do not reflect an intelligent individual. How is it he's never learned more in his life?

If you equate wealth with success, then all wealthy people are successful?

How many people have risen to the top in three widely differing fields (acting, business and politics)?  How many of those were stupid?  How can you possible declare that Trump is not intelligent, or that he knows nothing, with that kind of record?

I'm judging his intelligence by the words that come out of his mouth. Most intelligent individuals have decent vocabularies. I have an 11-year-old who has a substantially better vocabulary than our President. I'm judging by the complexity of his thought and his expression of those thoughts. He's one of the least intelligent leaders we've ever seen based on the things that he says, his own words. (the only leader I can think of who seems less intelligent is Duerte from the Philippines). Personally, I would far prefer you as our President, Wilderness, as I think you are probably 20+ IQ points smarter than our President.

Unable to declare bankruptcy, where would he be?

A million dollars? He was worth far more than that. I like that you believe his story that he started with a million dollars. Because he's so truthful and never manipulates stories to make himself look good.

You're judging him as "unintelligent" because he doesn't know, and use, the vocabulary your think he should (either yours or that of polished politicians).  Then, to top it off, you ignore his successes as if they are of no import.
(Just watched our state governor give a speech on the virus and his response - he makes Trump look like Obama when it comes to the ability to talk into a microphone.  But I would hardly classify him as "unintelligent" because of that.)

Doesn't sound like a very good test for intelligence to me.

A great many businesses have gone through bankruptcy, and even more business owners.  Is that something also to be set aside and ignored, along with the end result of amassing a fortune, as if it is irrelevant?

More than a million or two?  Proof please, or are you just accepting the stories on the web because anything found there is always truthful and never manipulates stories in order to spread discontent and hate?

The U.S. tally of coronavirus cases and deaths could soon jump because federal health officials will now count illnesses that are not confirmed by lab testing.

Having accurate numbers would require testing to make certain a person had indeed died of the Corona virus.  Without the testing, there is no way to determine an accurate death count.

This is just an effort to provide bogus numbers.  Using this method there is no way to know for certain the number of people who actually died from the Corona virus.

Accurate numbers are essential for determining how to deal with it.

It all comes down to providing an accurate count.

Mike, The IHME’s are due to provide the fourth revision on their model in the next few days. As you know the model has been severely off with numbers fluctuation from 2.5 million downward to 60 thousand. The actual numbers in regards to infection rate and the death toll have so far been collected from actual tests, hospitalizations for COVID19 and deaths caused by the Virus. It now has been reported they have now started to add deaths that they assume were caused by COVID19. In the end, without testing more citizens for the Virus as well as most importantly the titer, those that may have had the virus and gone undetected it will be hard to detect not only the virulence of the virus but the percentage of death to the actual number that acquired the virus.

Just my opinion but I feel once many are tested with titer test we may find out many have had COVID19 throughout the winter flu season, and did not have the need for medical attention, so this population went uncounted. This could very well provide stats that will explain the death toll percentage being high in regards to infections.

Dr. Brix and Fauci have both expressed this possibility early on when they were explaining the models. At any rate, the modeling was severely off on this virus due to just not having the stats needed to predict. Not sure why they would be adding people that are undetermined to have died from COVID19 to the death toll.

The CDC has a specific method for estimating flu stats. It provides a wide range of stat infection rates, as well as the death rate. They mainly use information from Hospitals as well as death records. In the end, they offer a range in stats and those range numbers are left open to correction, sometimes for two years as stats are studied. The lower number is giving provable deaths from death certificates. The upper range numbers are deaths that were most likely caused by the flu but lacked flu tests.

I hope to be able to get the titer test. In Dec I was very ill with all the same symptoms of COVID19, my husband was also but did not require medical intervention. My son was ill he was very ill with symptoms that mimic COVID19. We both required doctoring for a month due to respiratory problems. My community was inundated by this illness. Our ER's were full. I was told I had Bronchitis, as was my son. Neither of us has ever had any form of lung problems. I truly feel we maybe have had COVID19. I have talked with my doctor, and he informed me he has no way of checking at this point. I will pursue the titer test as soon as it is available, as will so many of my friend and neighbors that were ill at the same time.

I agree i believe many have had it, and I also think it came to the US in early Dec.

Wilderness, Did you see this Stanford Study?

"The prevalence study, led by Stanford Assistant Professor Eran Bendavid, has not been formally published and is still undergoing peer reviews. It has, however, been published on the preprint server medRxiv. As such, it is effectively a first draft, subject to change based on input before formal publication.

That said, the early findings indicate that between 48,000 and 81,000 residents in Santa Clara County were infected as of April 1, back when the official count was 956. The estimate is based on 3,330 blood samples that were taken from volunteers in Mountain View, Los Gatos and San Jose on April 3 and April 4 and tested for antibodies to SARS-CoV-"

Trump administration projecting 3K daily coronavirus deaths by June

New internal projections from the Trump administration suggest U.S. deaths will grow on a daily basis to 3,000 by the beginning of June, weeks after states have begun reopening their economies.

The startling figures from models produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) come as more and more states take steps to remove social distancing measures meant to slow the spread of COVID-19.

"We’re not even talking about a second wave here, we’re talking about a first wave that never goes away and gets worse,” said one former Health and Human Services (HHS) official.

The figures estimated the U.S. would see 3,000 deaths per day and 200,000 new cases per day by June 1. Experts and those familiar with the documents said the increases could be attributed to a spread of disease that will come with reopening the economy and partly to an expected expansion of testing, leading to more confirmed cases.

Trump on Sunday revised his personal prediction for the domestic death toll, saying the U.S. could lose up to 100,000 people from the coronavirus after previously suggesting it would be closer to 60,000.

Deborah Birx, the coordinator of the White House coronavirus response, said on “Fox News Sunday” that the projections she’s been using “have always been between 100,000 and 240,000 American lives lost, and that's with full mitigation and us learning from each other of how to social distance.”

Even after respiratory symptoms fade, coronavirus victims face danger

Doctors are beginning to notice a troubling blood-clotting phenomenon, which is occurring more frequently in patients who have the virus. These clots are also being discovered in younger coronavirus patients and can result in sudden strokes or death.

“There’s something about this virus that’s exaggerated that to the nth degree,” said Mitchell Levy, chief of pulmonary critical care and sleep medicine at the Warren Albert School of Medicine. “We’re seeing clotting in a way in this illness that we have not seen in the past.”

15 children are hospitalized in New York City with an inflammatory syndrome that could be linked to coronavirus

Fifteen children in New York City have been hospitalized with symptoms compatible with a multi-system inflammatory syndrome possibly linked to coronavirus, according to a health alert issued by the New York City Health Department on Monday.

At least five of the cases required a ventilator and more than half of the patients required blood pressure support

A  team at Stanford Children's Hospital in California has reported a case with similar features.
Pediatric specialists in the UK recently warned that a small number of children were becoming ill with the rare syndrome that could be linked to coronavirus. The Paediatric Intensive Care Society UK (PICS) warned about a small rise in the number of cases of critically ill children, some who had tested positive for Covid-19, presenting "overlapping features of toxic shock syndrome and atypical Kawasaki disease with blood parameters."

Similar cases have also been reported in Italy and Spain.

I just heard back from my local health department.  I tested positive for Covid-19.  I'm in quarantine for a few weeks.  Guess I'll get to post more in the forums.

You are only trolling. It's always the same. It's suddenly election time and people start to post on the hubpage forums who have never been here before. Let alone write an article.
I guess you are paid by Tonald Drump himself.
Sorry ,but your credibility is zero.

I do think you may be right about this person's motives.  But, I don't think he is here to promote Trump. Trump certainly doesn't want any more COVID cases. In fact if you remember it was Trump that stated he "they should stop counting".  This one here for Biden.

I just said that to hold a mirror. You are probably right. But sometimes the extreme right is faking the democratic voice to show the republicans what an ass$$&/" they are...And so giving the republican voter a good feeling about their choice.
Remember Jake? He did the same thing with talking about clown Trump this and clown Trump that. It doesn't work and kills a conversation.
It is a trick to widen the gap between left and right, instead of trying to find common ground. Because that's what the US needs in my opinion. More common ground between the two parties, but maybe that's not possible. I do not know

Whether you believe me or not, I cannot control.  But on August 10, I started to develop what I believed to be a head cold.  The symptoms passed within a few days.  What I felt was a fever, persisted.

But just to be safe, I figured I would get a Covid test.  After being stonewalled by our local county health department since they wanted a referral from a primary care physician, I called my physician's office and left them a message, but they did not return my call.  Three days later, I did a Covid test at a walk-in clinic in town that did not need a referral.  At the test, my temperature was just 98.9 degrees so I thought I may have just been overly concerned.

Five days later, I received a call from the clinic that I had received a positive result for Covid-19.  The following morning, you get a call from your local county health representative to talk about all the people who you've had contact with.

As my first symptoms were 10 days prior, I was not required to quarantine, although I have been for extra safety.  Two days after the test, I had some chills and weakness.  Six days, I can understand why some have complained of 'fogginess.'  You just feel a little off.  Breathing through my nose has been a little off, like that feeling you have when you have a head cold and your breath feels a little warmer than normal through that passage.

I was likely exposed to the virus when I was out on a hike on August 6.  We had an unmasked interaction at the top of a summit with four kids from high-risk states who had ignored our state's two-week quarantine protocols.

That's a lot of detail for a fabrication.
