   “We are just gonna go out and start slaughtering them f****** n******. I can’t wait. God I can’t wait,” Piner stated, according to the documents. Moore responded that he would not do that, which Piner stated “I’m ready.”
   
   Piner then explained to Moore, the documents state, that the country needed a civil war to “wipe ‘em off the f****** map. That’ll put ‘em back about four or five generations,” Piner stated. Moore responded, “you’re crazy.”
   
   North Carolina police officers fired after conversation about 'slaughtering' Black people and the need for a second Civil War
   
   Three police officers in North Carolina have been fired after they were heard on camera making racist comments, including the use of racial epithets and references to “slaughtering” Black people, police said Wednesday.
   
   Wilmington Police Chief Donny Williams said Cpl. Jessie Moore and officers James Gilmore and Kevin Piner would be fired for misconduct after an internal investigation “uncovered extensive violations” of the department's policies, including its standard of conduct and use of appropriate language.
   
   When interviewed separately, each officer admitted to their voice on the video and did not deny saying any of the things that were heard, according to the police report. However, each officer also denied being racist.

      I can assume you are pointing out a very vile statement made by a white policeman, and he followed it up by saying he was not racist. This incident certainly points out racism on the part of a law officer, and that he most certainly is a racist.
      
      Did you have any other point by posting this other than we have some very racist cops?  I would think the general public realizes we have bad cops, racist cops.
      
      You pointed out this cop claimed he was not a racist.  He clearly is. I mentioned in a comment I do not consider myself a racist. I can say with honesty I am not...  Should the statement itself be ban or should we consider the human being making the statement, perhaps considering the person's beliefs, and deeds. 
      
      In this case, you presented the hypocrisy the officer used to try to cover his ass. I don't believe people are innately racist, and that the statement I am not a racist can ring true for some.

      Racism is disgusting in all its forms, anti-white, anti-black, anti-red, anti-yellow, etc.
      
      I smell silent racism coming from this post, but nonetheless it draws attention to the division that is being sown on racial grounds in this country.
      
      If you pick a color to support over another, you're a racist.
      
      Support all races, and be truly anti-racist.
      
      All lives matter!

         The thread does work to point out a blatant case of racism. It also points out the term "I am not a racist" is used frequently by some that appear to be racists.
         
         I find it a  problem that the term has possibly taken on the context of being understood as negative. Should not the person that uses the term be looked at as an individual? I would think the term is one that evokes the feeling that the person saying it is placating or lightly dismissing the other's feelings. But, one should be able to use the term if they feel it's true of their own belief.
         
         I am not sure where IB was going here?  It appears to me she was pointing out the term I am not racist, and how it is an overused non-sincere term   She may have just wanted to bring to attention a story about another racist cop or both.
         
         At any rate, it was thought-provoking.
         
         And yes, all lives matter...

            I tried to hold off Sharlee, but it's a lazy Saturday afternoon, so . . .
            
            I don't see that "I'm not racist" statement the same as you. I think it is a negative statement in two ways; first, it says you are not something, just contextually that has to be negative. "I am racist" is the positive to the "I'm not racist" negative.
            
            More importantly, I think it is a negative statement because it is not a needed statement unless one feels the need for a defensive statement.
            
            It would certainly be a positive if someone says it about you, (generic "you"), but I don't think it is a positive when one says it about themselves.
            
            When I hear someone say that I expect it to be followed with; "My best friend is black" or "I have lots of Black friends."
            
            Of course, that is just my perception. Like Baskin-Robbins says, we all get to have our favorite flavor of ice cream—and opinions. ;-)

               Hello GA, your opinion is well taken, and I would think you will receive little to no backlash presenting that line of thought. It's very politically correct and well established and well received by many. The term "I am not racist"  is, as a rule, taken to be insincere.

               The context of racism is negative in my view as it seems to be yours. However, I don't find the term negative when conveying a belief. If proclaimed in an honest conversation,  I find it appropriate.
               
               I agree no one should consider due to having black friends or even a best friend defines as not being racist or gives them a pass on being racist.
               
               In regards to making the statement to defend one's self while being defensive. ---  I feel if having a conversation about race that includes racism the statement is fair game. If the conversation is honest and open one has a right to express their feelings, their beliefs, and hope the opposing person does the same. Otherwise what is learned. I prefer a conversation that is polite, yes, but honest feelings are shared. One can always say what is expected, what one feels the other hopes to hear. But to dig deep and tell one's real truth makes for an interesting honest conversation. I never want to feel I can lip Sync a conversation.
               
               To be truthful,  as a rule, I don't use the term unless a conversation has come to a point that I hope to impress all white people are not racist. I will use myself as an example.  I guess I don't ascribe to the thought all white people are innately racist and defend my view.  I think racism is in some respects acquired by life experiences and in many cases related to how one is reared.
               
               My religion has helped me understand and actually consider all human beings are equal.  And I do realize religion is not readily acceptable in conversations, but this is my truth...
               
               So, if I drop the term here and there that I am not a racist, I hope I will be taken seriously. You know some of us take the harder path. 
               
               I think the subject of the thread is a good one. It is very clear and has been for years that we need a better way to screen who is hired to keep law and order.

            This unique and majestic God continues to let tragedy and atrocities happen, in such a case where God is real I think I'm on the side of his scorned child, Satan. Alas, fairy tales are best left to their pages and the wisdom within best separated from those pages so as not to confuse the message.
            
            Also, I've never heard of blue lives as a race, and don't support police in any capacity. I am fully capable of upholding justice within my own community if the need arises, and I have done so on many occasions both in uniform and as a private citizen. The difference between myself and a cop, I didn't need to pull a gun to stop riot-like activities and no one had their lives ruined with charges (maybe a few bumps and bruises though).
            
            Keep asking your God to end the horrible occurrences in the world, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for a response; especially not when his answer is to let Satan kill everyone who doesn't believe in Him as cited within most Abrahamic texts.

   What is a cop to do in today's climate:
   -where they, all policemen, are stereotyped?
   -where no one dares to even breathe the words "revese racism?"
   -where one cop is now at this moment PARALYZED from the neck down due to the actions of ENEMIES? (And that has to be a fate WORSE than death!)
   
   Cops have a really difficult job on so MANY LEVELS.
   Cops are not perfect beings.
   Note to self:
   If you attract the cops due to your own stupidity, DON'T RESIST ARREST!
   BOTTOM LINE!

      That's not an excuse.
      Any person in a government job, should be fired by the use of this language. Full stop. The police, fire brigade, politicians etc. should be an example for society. Not spitting hatred. Like a nurse has a calling to help people. So should a policeman have a calling to help people. If you don't have that calling you should take another job. This should be in the first screening. You should not have that job in the first place.
      This is pure racism Kathryn. No excuse.

         While I agree that it is inexcusable and there is no excuse, to think that anyone with a government job should be a cut above others and expectations for them are higher...well, when half the country works for one branch of government or another that seems a little strong.  With those kinds of numbers it's much like saying we all need to higher standards than the rest; an obvious fallacy.

               If my neighbour perceived the spark of God and murdered his wife. And I just ate my lunch and did not perceive the spark of God. It still makes my neighbour a murderer and me an innocent person.

You have allowed that nasty racist stuff to be characterized as "blowing off steam" by adding a parameter, (where and when they should do it—"You "blow off steam" on your own time, otherwise you're  on the clock and you are expected to behave as a professional on the job."
            
            I sure don't see it as that. Those fellows need a career change, not de-stressing therapy.

               I dunno, GA, I am to acknowledge the futility of changing people's attitudes and values when there really isn't any objective way to do it. We all mumble under our breath about things, and they can get nasty and are beyond monitoring as it should be.
               
               I and no one else can control a person's thoughts and we don't want to, but I can insist on professional behavior while on the job and that you keep the irrelevant axes that you have to grind to yourself.
               
               If I insisted on a career change for everybody that harbor such thoughts, about women, Jews, Asians, or what have you,  there would be no one left working....
