Concerning the situation with the missionaries in Haiti, I believe that they are innocent. That is my opinion and while others may have their own opinions on this topic, this is not the primary issue.
The American government must act to return the missionaries to their families. Americans have been working together with other countries to restore Haiti and its people. Is it plausible then for these same people to hold 11 Americans in their prisons? Let alone, dirty, horribly-lit, and poorly ventilated prisons?
No, it is wrong and until they release these people, I feel it is only right for the American government to cease all aid to Haiti. Yes, it is understandable that Haiti is in a state of turmoil but they can not be allowed to keep these Americans from there home and from their families. It's time to take action. If Haiti wishes for aid, then they must release those who wish to aid them.
Well - I think we should nuke them for stopping them from legally taking what is rightfully theirs and selling them.
After all - these are Baptist ministers and should be allowed to do as they please. It is disgusting that they were stopped.
Anti-American is what this is.
Nuke them and have done with it.
I believe they were doing the right thing to and agree with you! This is the respect that our Country gets for lending a helping hand. If our Country pulled out you can bet your bippy that they would be released.
Stealing children? Oh - for their own good? OK? Too right - bring them up in good Kristian families.
LOLO
Like stealing photos of pretty women and using them as your avatar?
Disgusting.
I thought stealing was a sin? No? K...... I can do as I please then.
Haiti has laws but I believe that they should be released , you are funny Mark first time I use an Avatar that is not me, you to chew off my head. **Geesh** what is wrong with this place lately, I think I am going to have a glass of wine would you care to join me? lololo Maybe I should post naked Avatars next time people may not be so harsh. lololo ((( Big Hugs))
I did not say they should be brought up as Christians children need to be cared for
I will go back to my red hair and just be me , mmmmm or maybe a naughty pic. lolollo
Who cares about the pic half of the people on here have never shown who they are , at least I have.
They were taking children without permission. Regardless of their goals, they broke the laws of that country and they should face the laws of that country.
You can not come to the United State and just take poor peoples children. Why did she feel because the country was in distress and poor, that she could just walk off with children.
It has recently be revealed that the folks who came from the Baptist church, had no idea what was going on. This woman is not a member of that church, no one has said she was even a Christian. This woman went to the church, to raise money to go get these children. I believe that she use the Baptist church to gain credibility. She was told several times from American and Haitians that what she was doing was illegal. She did not care.
Her home was foreclosed on in December, she has workers that she has not paid for months. I believe she wanted to get the children as a means to ask for money and support. It is a hustle gone wrong!
What ever happened to forgiveness. Maybe we should focus on feeding, clothing and sheltering those people in Haiti and releasing those missionaries.
I think they should be charged with criminal stupidity. O.K. they may have wanted to help, but what made them think it could ever be ok to just pick up a bunch of children and take them away?
As I said before, people will have their own opinions on the innocence of these missionaries. I agree that they acted stupidly despite the fact that they had good intentions and I agree that all men should submit to the law. The law is the law.
But it is still ridiculous for the Haitian government to hold these Americans for such a long period of time when they are already so dependent on the American government and others for their restoration. It's time for them to issue a pardon and until they do, I say all Americans should pull out immediately.
When all is said and done and these Americans are returned to their families, then we can get back to restoring Haiti. Because truthfully, that's what the Haitian government should be worried about, restoring its country.
I would imagine that whatever is left of the Haitian government is feeling pretty inadequate right now, and possibly invaded as well.
They obviously have not acted previously in the best interest of their population, and right now they are playing chess with the only pawns that have been given them.
Think, small minded, how can I get back some power, people who have no idea how things will work out for them in the future.
You know, for (I think) the first time I agree with Mark.
These guys should know better than to go to a zone where children are being taken by criminal gangs for the worse reasons, and try to just take children out of the country.
First as Christians they are supposed to OBEY the authorities, and it matters not one jot that they may view the authorities as evil or bad, they are the authorities and they should have approached them first.
The argument that they meant good is irrelevant, if they wanted to do good, just get to digging out the rubble or helping to feed those children in need.

Its really sad that we as Americans let the Democrats and Republicans pull games on us and keep our minds off the really important issues that face us as Americans. How can we not demand real solutions to the problems facing us as Americans. You know I set and listened to the Republican...

My country Haiti is in debt, because France made them pay an independence fee of 90 million dollars over 200 years ago. Which took Haiti approximately 120 years to pay off. Due to the economic changes and inflammation, that same 90 million is worth 40 billion dollars. There is no valuable sources...
