Kamala's VP pick is radical, woke, progressive and Pro Islamic. He has an extreme record regarding abortion issues including after-birth deaths, (late-term abortion,) and other worrisome issues regarding children. The state of Minnesota has high taxation and problematic energy issues.

    Was this a good choice?
    Was it a "choice?"

Most defiantly yes:  I watched the Kamala Harris rally in Philadelphia last night; and was most impressed:  It gives me a high level of confidence that America is finally going in the direction of Europe e.g. the Conservatives obliterated in the UK General Election last month (their worst defeat in history), with the socialist Labour Government winning a huge landslide victory (their biggest victory in history); and at the same time the socialists in France forming an alliance to deny the far-right a victory in the French Elections.

I say "yes"as well. It was a clever balance to placating the groups to her  immediate left while attracting the more conservative moderates and independents within the Heartland. Walz was an inspired choice. Arthur, nice to see you back. I am now relieved that we have a viable alternative to Trump this November.

Trump is "running scared" already, he is trying to avoid debating Harris on terms originally agreed to. This will all be first class entertainment..... a former prosecutor against a convicted felon?

I too, am relieved that America has “a viable alternative to Trump this November.” Yep, I noticed Trump “"running scared"; we saw the same thing with the Conservatives from the start of our General Election in the UK – and when political parties panic (knowing that they are going to lose) they make mistakes.  The Conservatives made lots of ‘big’ mistakes during their election campaign; and I’m sure Trump will do as well.

My return is only brief; we only just got back from our holiday (vacation) to Cornwall last week, and tomorrow we’re off on another holiday (this time to Essex).   We did have a bit of excitement on holiday when, on returning to our holiday cottage after a day trip, we meet an oncoming police car on a narrow Cornish road:

Meeting Oncoming Police Car on Narrow Cornish Road https://youtu.be/LLVl11FT0uQ

Also, while in Cornwall we visited the original Minions on Bodmin Moor:  https://youtu.be/vjxviEU99X0

Well, Arthur, talk about a stroke of bad luck. The copper did not give you any trouble for being in his way? And, it was perfectly legal for you to traverse a road made for horses. I certainly hope that you did not run into that again.

I had my own holiday at the beginning of last month. I had to go to San Diego, California to celebrate my Mom's 91st birthday with my younger brother with whom she lives. There was a sense of urgency as I did not know how long I was going to have her. But she looked and was doing surprisingly well for her age. A non stop 5 hour flight from Orlando Fl., without incident. San Diego is a great town, progressive
            vibrant and full of life.

Yes, we are coming after Trump, Harris wlll effectively remove the shroud
and smoke screen exposing the true nature of the man for all to see. That, in itself, has to terrify him. He will have tantrums, throw ketchup and become unhinged over time.

              "Mom's 91st birthday"

              Congratulations to your mother!

91 is quite an accomplishment.  I hope you and your entire family had a wonder time together.  Time spent with loved ones becomes so valuable especially as they get older.

Thanks, and congratulations on your mum’s 91st birthday; such times with family are precious – I wish you all well.

Considering that we were on holiday (vacation) in Cornwall, which is notorious for their narrow roads, surprisingly, that was the only major traffic indent during our holiday this time:  Last time, a few years ago, when we were on holiday in Cornwall we had similar incidents with traffic every day of our holiday e.g. confronting an oncoming bus, as in this video clip of the occasion:

When Car Meets Oncoming Bus on a Narrow Cornish Road:  https://youtu.be/k3NrXr7WqYY

Just to confirm your statement; the police didn’t give us any trouble for being in their way, in fact they waved at us when we finally passed them.  And yeah, many Cornish roads, “made for horses” date back over a 1000 years – and as such are now protected against development by law as part of the ‘English Heritage’ e.g. it’s prohibited to widen them, and importantly, they act as wildlife corridors that span the length and breadth of Cornwall – as briefly explained by an American (Rick Steves) in this short video:  https://youtu.be/-UG97ANqUIU

The road we met the police car on was part of a two mile drive from the main road to our holiday cottage in a middle of a nature reserve:  The reason the police was on that road was because while we were out for the day (day trip) the police raided the holiday cottage adjoining ours – two police cars packed full with Detectives and Forensic police – they seized everything from the holiday cottage next to us, including their rubbish (trash) and their car – and we didn’t see those holiday makers again.  I don’t know what it was about because that is confidential; but it added a bit of excitement to the day.

You watched the last debate? Did you see the CNN "moderator" save the senile guy when he was rambling? Why should Trump go back on a network like that? Why is Harris afraid to debate him on Fox?

Credence2posted 2 months agoin reply to this

An agreement is an agreement, I am not going to give Trump a "safe space" because he starts whining. I saw the CNN debate and I did not see anything untoward by the moderators toward either candidate.

The Fox change is one thing, but he craves a large audience and I say NO. I want answers from both candidates, not showboating and theatrics before raucous crowds. We are more likely to get that with a one on one format.

Trump is just a chickensh@t making excuses and he will get called out on it.

From my perspective, the CNN moderator was trying to save old CNN Joe. A clear bias against the man, which I am sure you have seen and enjoyed watching many times in the past. I certainly do not know what is going on with his campaign but I can imagine he does not want to deal with their bias again.

Everybody knows that Biden's performance at the debate was abysmal, Doc. It had nothing to do with the moderator. I really did not see any bias in the CNN sponsored debate.

This next debate is to be moderated by ABC and I see no reason for Trump to have irrational fear about the format. Either he will know what he is talking about or he won't. I don't like being needlessly distracted from relevant replies and answers by either candidate due to superfluous and irrelevant factors.

I'm with you on this one. The right is already oiling up the propaganda machine. Yesterday Walz stated that he "served in a combat zone." He emphasized that he did not pick up a rifle and serve in combat. Today there was some right wing fanatic on CNN bleating that "Walz lied about serving in combat!"

Correct & I agree, America is about to embrace a Post-Modern - Communistic future... one based on International (the West only) law that dominates the EU, UK, US and other lesser satellite countries to the West.

It is a sad time for America and for humanity's future, it is a suicidal, insane path that the West is on.

Where it is bound to lead us is evidenced in the UK today.
        https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/uk- … 18-9465699

I imagine those are going to become common-place occurrence for many years to come, and in turn the government will become more tyrannical and violent in reaction to the unrest that is obviously going to continue...

As to be expected when you bring together two completely opposite cultures with opposing beliefs... and tell the welcoming culture to stuff their beliefs and shut-up about it.

The current wave of riots in Britain has nothing to do with main stream politics - It's all the action of a small group of hard-right-wing fascist groups using social media to spread disinformation and inciting violence.

It's a deliberate act of violence by hard-right wing fascist groups, who are not supported by the vast majority of the British population; the vast majority of the British population is appalled by the current wave of riots.

The riots are being orchestrated by 'extreme hard-right wing anti-immigration and anti-Muslim' groups (supporters of Nigel Farage), using 'Disinformation' on social media to deliberately incite violence and organise riots; with the organisers bussing rioters into designated areas - And as in Bristol, meeting stiff resistance from the local residence left-wing anti-fascist (pro immigration and pro Muslim) groups e.g. the left-wing anti-fascist local residents far out numbering the hard-right wing fascist groups that were bussed in, as detailed in this article:-

Yes, I know what the 'official' story is.

The more the government works to repress the 'native' population in support of the 'incoming' migration, the more the government bends over to be accepting to those differences rather than tell incoming population to adapt to ALL of the local customs, language, and laws... the more these 'riots' are going to escalate.

Watch.  Time will prove me to be prophetic.

The official story is the correct story.  I can assure you, as a Brit, that the far-right wing fascist thugs, spreading disinformation to incite racial hatred is not support by the vast majority of British people – so the full force of the law they will face is fully justified and fully supported by the British people.

                What incident started the riots?

What is talked about in the Pubs?

So and so's daughter got suckered into this grooming gang, so and so's daughter was raped, my buddy was arrested for posting 'hate speech' on facebook, etc. etc.

The more effort that goes into repressing what is instinctual protective efforts by English citizens, the more certain these riots, and those supporting them, are going to continue to grow.

Lets face reality, things have been too quiet in Ireland and Britain lately, relatively peaceful, people not having to worry about where the next meal is coming from...no wars for independence going on...  I am sure there are plenty of people who will be happy to have a 'cause' to fight for again.  Many, many young people who no longer have a purpose and who are being pushed out of their 'homeland'.

This train is just beginning to roll out of the station.

The incident that started the riots was ‘Disinformation’ (lies) posted in social media falsely claiming that the 17 year old who stabbed three children to death last Monday was a Muslim immigrant – Whereas in actual fact the 17 year old was British.

What’s talked about in the pubs is how appalling the far-right are propagating disinformation (lies) on social media to incite racial hatred.

I don’t know where you’ve been, but it’s been far from quiet in Ireland and Britain this year (prior to the General Election) e.g. every week all this year there have been mass protests in London and across Britain protesting against:-

                  •    The Labour Parties lack of support for Gaza, and

                  •    Protests against the Conservative Government’s controversial Rwanda immigration policy, and

                  •    Plenty of regular anti-oil protests

Just Stop Oil protesters target wedding of Duke and Duchess of Westminster (last month): https://youtu.be/5-ZlCjWAKek

FYI, in the UK the incoming population has a good track record of “adapting to ALL of the local customs, language, and laws...” thanks to the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB).  The MCB, who represents both Sunni and Shia Muslims, founded in 1997, who work hard to facilitate the integration of Muslims into British society.

In contrast to the current riots orchestrated by far-right extremists propagating disinformation to incite racial hatred; the newly elected socialist Labour Government has hit the ground running:-

              1.    Even before the new Parliament met for the first time the newly elected Labour Government abolished the Conservatives controversial Rwanda immigration policy.

              2.    The Labour Government has relaxed planning laws and lifted the Conservative ban on onshore windfarms to facilitate a rapid transition to Renewable Energy; and to pay for the costs, the Labour Government is imposing a win-fall tax on British oil and gas Industry, who profiteered from the hyper rise in gas prices caused by the Ukrainian war.

              3.    The Labour Government has created a new Nationalised Energy Company to oversee the transition from fossil fuels to Renewable Energy.

              4.    The Labour Government is also re-nationalising the railways.

              5.    The Labour Government has abolished the anti-strike laws passed by the Conservatives last year, and

              6.    The Labour Government has offered junior NHS doctors a 22.5% pay rise to end the two year NHS strike.

So the future in Britain looks rosy.

Socialism works better in small countries. Our country is too big. We have states and we are a republic for a reason: Freedom for the individual.

Socialism will not work for a people who, traditionally, resist overreach by the government. This country must stick to its roots of Free Market and Liberty for All within the boundaries of Law and Order, designed to guide us toward harmony, peace and prosperity.

Far from it:  The riots this past week hasn’t been against the government; it’s been organised by far-right-wing fascist anti-immigration and anti-Muslim groups orchestrating and spreading disinformation on social media with the deliberate intent to incite racial hatred….

…..And far from supporting it, the British people are appalled by the actions of the far-right.

The Disinformation being where such far-right-wing groups falsely claiming on social media that the 17 year old who stabbed three young children to death last Monday week was a Muslim immigrant; where as in actually fact the 17 year old is British.

Thankfully, last night; the British people in their thousands (out numbering the far-right-fascist rioters) took to the streets across Britain to give their support for immigrants and Muslims, and peacefully protested against far-right-fascists:  As summarised in this short video below:-

Thousands fill streets across England with signs of 'love' and 'unity' https://youtu.be/2yGZewLtyiM

            Thanks for explaining, Nathanville.

            This helped me too:
" ...Other authors make a distinction between the centre-right and the far-right.

Parties of the centre-right generally support liberal democracy, capitalism, the market economy (though they may (Should) accept government regulation to control monopolies), private property rights, and a limited welfare state (for example, government provision of education and medical care). They support conservatism and economic liberalism and oppose socialism and communism.

By contrast, the phrase "far-right" is used to describe those who favor an absolutist government, which uses the power of the state to support the dominant ethnic group or religion and criminalize other ethnic groups or religions. Typical examples of leaders to whom the far-right label is often applied are: Francisco Franco in Spain, Benito Mussolini in Italy, Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany, Augusto Pinochet in Chile, and Jorge Rafael Videla in Argentina."

              Yep, absolutely:

The Conservatives, who just lost power in the UK in last month’s General Election is, as you say “centre-right”; and are as you describe for centre-right politics.

Whereas, in contrast we now also have a far-right political party in Britain, calling themselves ‘Reform UK’, led by Nigel Farage, who are exactly as you describe for ‘far-right’ politics.   So if Nigel Farage ever got into government he would be as dangerous as those you list in your last sentence above.

Thank you, Miebakagh, I will tell you how come, as a lesson for others:

I tried to step over a chain surrounding a new car lot and tripped.
My second foot did not clear the chain due to miscalculating the upward curve/height of the chain. The forward momentum brought me over the chain and onto my hand, smack down on the cement.

Another hazard on this cold hard earth are the cement parking lot space blocks. My doctor told me this tripping hazard brings him many patients.

I am also tall. So, I should have been able to clear the chain easily. My mind did not calculate the upward rise of the chain accurately, therefore did not raise the second leg high enough. My foot caught the chain.

It will happen to anybody. Do not try to step over these barriers without holding the nearest supporting pole.

Why was I on a new car lot? Shopping for a new car?
No. On the lot, is a market for discounted products. Its called Panda Liquidators. The Toyota dealer rents out a portion of the lot to them. They sell liquidated product from Costco, Walmart, Amazon, Home Depot and Target at 25-80% below retail. The items are held in transport containers parked on the lot and then displayed, topsey-turvey style, in huge wooden bin type structures when they are open for business. The neighborhood hates this hodgepodge, open air-market of goods. But I digress. They take only cash. I was headed there with my cash in hand to buy a halter/dog leash, for my small dog, which had I seen the day before when I had only a credit card. No, I never bought the halter/leash for my dog. It was a totally failed mission.
My current mission is getting back my perfect hand.
It's a very painful, tedious and difficult challenge. Thank you for your sympathy and good wishes. smile

        Scary stuff.

What is worse, any country with nuclear weapons could probably create just such a reality by setting off just one bomb in space.

Imagine a government that gets so twisted, sadistic and power hungry that it is willing to explode such a weapon over its own nation, so that it can completely subjugate its citizens and impose a draconian dystopian nightmarish control over them.

A government that considers anyone who is not part of their ideology, anyone that does not share their outlook for the world as deplorable and unworthy of liberty or opportunity.

I think such a government on a lesser degree, is that of late ( Francois Duvalier) Papa Doctor of Haiti?                                   His government was so despotic, that on pain of death, every Haitian was compel to bow down to  worship him, or his image(photo) that is decreed to be in every household.

The boundaries of law and order are based on the other side of the coin:

    Freedom for the individual.

Laws and boundaries are to preserve what is good. Namely, the natural God-given RIGHT of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

One of the main reasons nobody knows about the policies of harris/walz is because neither of them talk to reporters.  harris has held NO press conferences since being coronated as the presumptive democrat nominee.  Walz also has not attempted to speak to the press.

    Brit Hume describes it perfectly.

He said, "If VP Harris were a confident, competent candidate well-prepared to be president, she would be willing, even eager, to outline her plans and explain herself to inquiring journalists. But she is not. She appears afraid she'll remind people why so many came to regard her as a giggling lightweight."

    https://x.com/brithume/status/182171977 … ilities%2F

It is as if harris and walz intentions for the country are intentionally unknown.  It makes people wonder why they have to hide their agenda from the American people.

I wonder if they are afraid the American people will see her speak and remember the incompetent vice president she has been under biden's presidency.  I believe walz will struggle to explain his past actions in Minnesota.

    Brit Hume is correct.
