I was listening to talk radio yesterday and they came out with some interesting statistics. Conservatives donate 30% more to charities, not including church donations! That is a pretty amazing statistic and I find it very believable. What do you think? If this is true then the position taken by the left to make the Right carry most of the load would be Bogus!smile

Mutually assured destruction surprisingly does a lot for peace, along with the threat of death (from packing heat).

This has been studied over and over for years and it always comes out the same. Conservatives are more charitable. It's easy to see why when you consider the liberal view is for government to be society's conscience, paying taxes is an absolution of guilt for the liberals and they need not do anything else.

Conservatives have more money to give because they make it off of the backs and blood of the proletariat working class.  The working class will no doubt one day revolt and release themselves from the shackles into which they have been placed by their oppressors!  Only when they can keep the fruits of their labor, will the need for the paternalistic ‘charity’ of the bourgeois be declined.

There, that oughta get this forum topic going!

I heard a similar statistic, although what came out was that conservatives are 75% more likely to lie about how much money they donated to charity which translated into 25% less donated in real terms.

By "real" I mean what actually happened rather than what conservatives said happened. wink

30% more than what or who? Rocks? Elephants? Children?

To whom or what are they donating? How much do they get back on their taxes?

I would find it much more enlightening to see how much of the money they donate actually MAKES IT to the people/causes for which it is intended.

Oh...how much more of their TIME did they donate?

I wouldn't bet against true Christians because they live to serve. I have never heard liberals want to serve anything but sucker minnows. Weird huh, how the, self proclaimed, compassionate only want to serve or donate with someone elses money.

I am so tired of the fighting between conservatives and liberals.

It just depends on who is in power at a given time what positions the parties take.

Example 1: The republicans pushed perscription drug plan for seniors.  This was an unfunded additional entitlement.

Example 2: Democratics cut deals with the insurance and RX companies.  The stocks for insurance companies rises rather than fall with health care bill.

Example 3: Teachers unions will not take a small cut in pay and pay 2% of salary for insurance premiums in New Jersey. They would rather have teacher layoffs. How many children are left behind?

Example 4: The treasury secretary does not pay his taxes and owes back taxes.  He blames his mistakes on Turbo Tax software.

Example 5: Tom Dashle does not report all of his income and owes back taxes.

Example 6: Anti-Gay Republican is caught in airport bathroom looking for gay sex.

Example 7: Dems do not support charter schools.  How many kids are left behind?

By donations do they mean $$?

Maybe liberals donate more time and resources than money.

Or they don't donate at all, maybe they consume the donation, more likely scenario!

Not according to the report I heard. They even removed Church based charities from the study, it was based solely on donations to other charities. I doubt liberals or atheists would out do the service provided by conservatives. So you can hollar power to the people but thats about all the needy can expect from the left.wink
