The federal government doesn't create local jobs. It's up to local business leadership. The government CAN however help by providing special loan programs. It is a waste of time to look at the Federal government for new jobs creation, because it is a local issue in each individual State, and this is a free enterprise system.
The role of government is to protect civil liberties and provide a business environment where jobs can be created. NOT to create the jobs.
Unfortunately some politicians have decided to promise the moon to their constituents without regard to what their actual powers are supposed to be.
If you wait for business to create jobs in this deflationary environment of fear, Underpressure, you will be disappointed. This credit crisis, just like the ponzi housing scheme before it, and the dot com bubble before it, is a scam to enrich and empower the banker class.
The federal government does create jobs by providing money for road and bridge repair work which provides work for private contractors who employ construction workers; by putting money in the hands of unemployed workers who use it to buy goods and services from small and large businesses who hire workers to produce the goods and services; and by direct government purchases of services and goods such as guns, planes, etc. That is, the federal government creates jobs in private employers by creating demand for their products and services. May I suggest that if you disagree that you go to a used bookstore and get a good Economics 101 text book and read it.
Jane, it is unlikely that the private enterprise system will come through. I believe it will fail. I could be wrong and hope I am, but there is no evidence that they will get the job done.
Apparently , the federal government can't create jobs of any kind, unless they are temporary census jobs. But lets be realistic, could you create any jobs if you had a trillion dollars to spend?
Think about it. The federal stimulus has created demand for goods and services which have resulted in thousands of private sector jobs and the avoidance of the loss of thousands more. Unemployed people don't comsume much, especially if their unemployment benefits have run out.
Uh yesh if you say so, but the numbers seem to say otherwise.
What numbers are you referring to? There is still plenty of unemployment because the stimulus was too small and too late and because it takes too long for it to take effect.
What was it Biden said, we lost 8 million jobs and they're never coming back? Or something like that? One trillion dollars wasn't enough? Every bill this administration passes claims to spur job creation, but the only jobs they create are government jobs! Whose going to pay for all this government? Soon the government is going to have to take over every industry and we're all going to work for the government. They'll just pay us by running the printing press. Money will have no meaning. This administration is hell bent on our destruction, but the good news is at least now I can buy a gun to protect my property from the rampaging mobs searching for food and valuables.
Absolutely not true that the only jobs created are government jobs. Where did you get that idea?
Here's a pretty unbiased comment by CNN on the effect of the stimulus program.

The government is spending like some drunk college kids in Vegas. Obama hates Vegas, but he has Vegas economics. This is why he is a sucker bet. He could at least count the cards first before betting.
Try actually doing some reading on economics.
Ha. And what do you think is the main great thing the president has done to help the economy?
The Obama administration has averted a prolonged and deep recession, possibly a depression. Recovery is underway, but a depression or double dip recession are still risks if we start taking action too soon to reduce deficits.
So what you're trying to say is, if the republicians block any more stimulus spending and unemployment extensions, and the economy continues to degrade into a double recession (obviously it's well under way now), then Obama can blame it on the republicians as the party of no.
Correct. But I'm not hoping that will happen.
How about this, nothing Obama has done has helped the economy and it simply pulled out of recession because the cycle played out, but Obama's policies and rampant spending has CAUSED the economy to dip back into recession and now he will claim it's because of the republicians?
That's very true. AND, any jobs the government creates and pays the wages for isn't really helping the economy at all, just regurgitating previous tax money. With the private sector working jobs at a low of 42%, something needs to be done to increase that percentage and quickly. We need private sector jobs to grow the economy.
Another testament to the incompetence of this administration and the failure of their foolish policies!
God help us!
