   Are we approaching a crisis in the Middle East (and in the whole World)? Have the warning signs already been listed as associated with Biblical Prophecy? Is this just a glimpse of what is still to come?

         Our times aren't by any stretch the worst the world has seen. Even within the last 100 years (early 20th Century) things have been much worse - both economically and otherwise.

            Of course!  But it takes fear to convince people to believe things they ordinarily wouldn't.  The Jonestown Massacre is merely one example of this.  I wonder if believers think the parents who gave their children the poison went to heaven? 
            
            Might make a good forum thread.  Would you go with the "they thought they were doing what god wanted" line or with the "they were stupid for listening to that idiot Jones" opinion?  There could be more reasons, of course.

               For REAL believers, it is all about God's peace and love, for there is nothing to fear. It's all about the promise of a new world coming that is free of all the problems of this one. That world is actually here on Earth in the near future.
               
               Unfortunately, there have been many deceived by evil people (as you mentioned above) and still others, whose actions, behavior and words do not reflect a vituous life or compassion for our world's people and what the real truth is.

                     Many poor souls are misled, which was historicallly the evidence produced in the cases you refer to. Those who were aware of what they were doing (also being misled) became subject to the "cult" that they chose to follow. That was unfortunately their error.
                     
                     Love is the key to everything.... and they were not obviously following this core principle.

         I guess it is obvious which one I am... But, I would rather believe in what I do just on faith alone, because of the promise it holds for me. I pray for eveyone in the world to see this, because...
         
         If I am wrong, then no big deal... I'm just another one of those "religious nuts" as you said and it doen't really matter.
         
         However, on the most slimest fraction of a chance that I may even be correct, then the resulting consequences for everyone are much more severe. Eternity is a very very long time in comparison to the brief moments we will be here in this world. Logically, it would be better to spend eternity in a nice place than the alternative, if we have a choice.
         
         Be blessed and have a good life and hope to see everyone in the next.

            I'll bet you've never considered the possibility you may be convincing others to worship the wrong deity, or have you?  What are the implications of that particular scenario?  I doubt you'll answer, so let me give you my take on it.
            
            If you talk others into buying into your guy, you not only doom your soul, but also those you turned from the true deity.  What makes you feel you are any different than Jones and his followers?

               I understand your opinions. I have been there myself on all sides of this topic. That is how I came to the understanding I have now, by beating myself up trying to reason with it all. We could drag this debate on indefinitley, which would be useless.
               
               It is actually quite simple, to just live life and love. To love everyone else as if they were part of you. There is only one God and only one love. That God is pure love. You have to start there first, before you worry about what "name" you want to call it by. If you do not have the one, then the other does not matter.
               
               I wish you the best in whatever way you try to find the true love in God. When you find this love, the truth becomes self-evident and needs no explanation. I will pray that you find these answers for yourself one day. If you have in fact already found this love, then we are at peace together and there is also no reason to debate it further. If you have not, we will love you none-the-less and continue the same.
               
               So as such I remain, your brother in peace and love. May you have a long and blessed life in finding true love.

                  Of course you are entitled to your opinion, as am I.  But so far you have not explained why you are worthy to convince others to risk their souls to worship a god of YOUR choice.   
                  
                  Perhaps some great feat or accomplishment an ordinary heathen soul could not match would help your argument.  Do you have such?  There must be something special about you for an all powerful deity to entrust his authority for gathering souls to.
                  
                  Because if you are an ordinary Joe with nothing to show for your special mission, it may be a bit tough.  Unless of course you stay in the bible belt amongst willing and indoctrinated participants.

         But have you read the prophecy concerning one "Gog," and the coalition led by "Magog," I wonder?
         
         It's very interesting that a coalition of forces led by Russia(Magog), and including Egypt, and Persia (Iran), etc are predicted to attack Israel with . . . no success to speak of.

      Funny you mentioned upheaval.
      Henry Kissinger mentioned it over a year ago, in relation to Obama's influence.
      Needless to say, Kissinger was all for a "new world order" and has been influential in politics for many years, always keeping ties to both sides.  Smart, sly.
      Before Obama was even elected, someone asked the question of, is he the Antichrist?  I said no, that I don't believe there is one single individual who is "the" Antichrist, but that Obama's thoughts and policies are "antichrist" (anti-Christian, anti-God).  He's just one of many who speak such antichrist stuff;  it's that spirit that has turned America upside down and is affecting other Nations also.
      Yes, it's "end-times" stuff. Romans 8 talks about this.  As does Jude 18.
      The devil is subtle.  He fights dirty.  Not always with direct violence or physical violence, but by social and spiritual influence.  Instigating social and moral battles.  And ultimately instigating the ultimate battle....

      The Palestinean problem is Man made. Go back and study the Turkish empire, the Land of Palistine, and the time line from the League of Nations.
      
      The current uprising is real people, refusing the opression of a dictators heavy and,  to have more in life, again Human made, Human caused. The populations have become more educated and know understand what their rulers are really doing. They became smarter than their Dictators, and figured it out.
      
      Obama is a Textbook idealist of modern Ivy Leage teachings. He is a typical Professor who has theories and no practical experience, and he relies on knowledge of like minded women and men he calls Czars
      
      If anything,  this is one big social experiment to these people, with no realization of what they are actualy affecting at street level.
      
      They are spouting polocy from textbook theories and doctrines from so called past world lessons. , He and his advisors have no practical experience. They are viewing history not as it applied to the world then but as they think or hope it could work today. A so called educated guess.
      
      It is a formula for disaster because we are not the same world we were, and niavely applying those theories will not have similar affects and results.
      
      He's a thinker and severly mis-apply's History. Hardly an anti-Christ or a vision of the end of the world.
      
      More like a great socialistic experimenter. A  professor attempting a Political experment to set change for the better in motion, but with no means to an end and no real clue it will even work.
      
      Textbook is text book, but one size does not fit all nations.

   Here's what I think is the cause of all the upheaval.
   Okay, recent advances in medical research concerning the aging process have led money-hungry research labs to promise not only the ability to halt the aging process, but possibly reverse it as well. The Bazillionaires crunched the numbers and decided it was time to kill off some poor people, because if people become immortal, the Earth will get too crowded.
   Hard to believe, but...It's happened before. More than a century ago, after medical science discoverd aspirin and penicillin and made other breakthroughs that greatly extended human life expectancy, the Bazillionares orchestrated WW1 and WW2 as a form of population control.

   The world is not in upheaval in most places.  Here in China with one quarter or one third of the world population everything is peaceful and progressing nicely, Europe is pretty much at peace for the first time in a couple of thousand years, Africa is in less than its usual state of upheaval, Russia is settling down to order, if not a fair order,  it is only one or two countries and the trouble they cause that is in upheaval.  Funny how it seems to go hand in hand with economic decline isn't it.

                  I thought that was a real answer, just as those were real news items I provided links to. I even linked to one disputing the claim (ala the CCP) in order to provide balance. If you want to discuss US foreign policy that's fine, but it might be more appropriate in another thread.
