Tonya Rice tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review newspaper that her 13-year-old son, Brandon, died Thursday morning at a hospital in Pennsylvania.
The boy smoked the fake marijuana out of a plastic candy dispenser and suffered chemical burns to both lungs. He was put on a respirator in June and had a double lung transplant in September.

some argue that it's because of the real pot banning laws is why synthetic pot exists.it's dangerous and no one really knows what its made from..
That's a terrible situation Stacie L, and I feel for the parents of that boy, who was just experimenting without caution, may they find peace to overcome this tragedy.
Of course marijuana should be decriminalised, it's a herb and all the research I have conducted on it has shown me that the dangers are low compared to alcohol or smoking a substance that will burn your lungs.
Legalisation would bring quality control and reliable sources who will not mix dangerous compounds.
I suspect that whatever he smoked had been adulterated, possibly deliberately, which would make that murder.

Hi John. I don't understand how decriminalizing marijuana would've helped that 13-year-old boy. ?
I can understand legalizing marijuana for medical purposes, but (unless he's gravely ill or unless marijuana would specifically help him recover from a disease or illness), then why would we want a teenager or child to have access to marijuana? It's not just a medicine; it slows reaction time and otherwise messes with a person's head (and inhibitions I think).
Brenda, I respect you, but please watch that video.... 13 year olds should not be smoking pot, or anything, but until MORALITY and PARENTING are united, they will experiment.
If he had taken a toke on a marijuana joint, he would have either loved it or hated it, though I agree most probably the former.
I took my first joint at 15 years of age, I smoked consistently for another near 30 years, stopping when I came to faith.
I ran businesses and admit it did loosen my inhibitions greatly, but it never harmed me and I did not harm anyone else.
When we 'turned on' the most violent guy in our 'gang' from a beer drinker to a smoker, he changed in days into a relaxed and nice person, and stopped finding or starting fights everywhere he could beat someone up.
I do not recommend smoking dope as a lifestyle, but I do think that our laws are more versed to reflect vested interests than any concern for public health.
God made that herb, and as it seems to have none of the side effects of chemical medicines whilst doing a good job in many bad diseases that science cannot cure, my vote goes with God.
Genesis 1:29-31
King James Version (KJV)
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
Except man has overruled Gods commandment and told us that we can no longer use what God provided for our health.
1 Timothy 4:2-4 (King James Version)
Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
We should live by the words of God, not man.
I respect you a lot too John. I'll take your words into consideration.
My own experience has been very limited, to a couple of joints in my younger days. I remember slowed reactions and relaxed inhibitions. And falling asleep and dreaming the most brilliant things. But after I woke up I forgot what exactly those "brilliant" thoughts were! haha. I also felt like I was being anesthetized as I fell asleep. It scared me.
Indeed, we should live by the words of God. He tells us to use self-control too. Which I know you've done! I'm not downing you. I just think legalizing pot for medicinal uses will create even more of a slippery slope, opening the door to even more misusage....
Well it will probably never happen, and millions of Americans will continue to 'score' from illegal sources in order to alleviate pain and nausea from the poison that our doctors are forced to feed them in 'chemo' (look that up in a Greek/Hebrew bible)and MS sufferers will be more rapidly unable to function, and epileptics forced to either vegetate on chemical compounds or break the law.
You tried it and disliked it, that's good, you beat it before it could change anything you did not want changed.
My real point is (as outlined in my 'weed' hub, Don't Bogart that joint my friend...) that once legalised, fully, it becomes controlled in quality and quantity and the criminal element are removed, once you can buy a pack of Mari J alongside the cigarettes (which are more toxic) and alcohol (which is lethal).
As believers we need to discern the difference between man made laws and Gods, and pray that Gods word prevails over man.
Sounds to me like idiots shouldn't be smoking plastic.
This stuff is going around, the street name is called "Spice" - saw a presentation on it at my child's middle school......it kills, doesn't matter what you smoke it out of.
Sorry, let me clarify my position:
"idiots shouldn't be smoking anything"
cigarets are legal,... but if ismoke tobaco through a plastic candy dispenser i might get chemical burns from the burning plastic,.... just sayin
that said,... this fake weed buisness is maryjanes equivelant to meth cooking,... its dangerous.
decriminalize pot and the problem is solved.
So he wouldn't have suffered chemical burns to both lungs if he had smoked real marijuana out of a plastic candy dispenser? What caused the chemical burns, the fake pot or the candy dispenser?
Sad and senseless--why does anyone smoke anything considering the risks... Decriminalization of marijuana is not the answer...
They sell little containers of "potpourri" or at least that what the label says it is. This stuff is being smoked by many kids. It is made from some kind of tea.
There is no such thing as synthetic pot. It's just the Media pandering to the War on Drugs people.
You have pot and you have other crap... PERIOD.
The MSNBC story is a perfect example of stupid headlines and the people who scan them.
"Teen dies after smoking synthetic pot"
Its pretty obvious it really should have been "Teen dies after smoking plastic"
or "Parent fails to teach child that burning and inhaling plastic is dangerous"
"Spice" is a cannabinoid but what it may be mixed with is anyones guess since its not being manufactured with the stated purpose of human consumption.
Its supposed to be pretty effective at stimulating plant growth though, lol
'Spice' .... no idea what it means? any explanation for us old hippies!
BTW agree totally stupid to smoke plastic, should be banned in public.
The plastic being used are Pez dispensers, remember those? "Spice" isn't what the old hippies smoked that's for sure...some brilliant scientiests decided to make chemically based synthetic pot & you guessed it, it go out into the streets
It really does kill & its what killed that child. Not enough plastic in a Pez to kill. The presentation I saw was given by local law enforcement about how it burns your lungs out. Very real & very very scary!!!
quote from quote form a stupid person who scans the headlines
"The boy smoked the fake marijuana out of a plastic candy dispenser and suffered chemical burns to both lungs. He was put on a respirator in June and had a double lung transplant in September." unquote..
Smoking pot is just not right, unless there is a medical reason behind it. So sorry for the boy's parents.

I wonder if the kids who are rioting and not making any sense are pretty much on it. Could it be that Pot, which contains more THC than ever before, is making them crazy? https://www.foxnews.com/us/nyc-protest- … ndon-tatum I also wonder if people are avoiding smoking pot due to health...

The sadus smoke marijuana and it helps them to see a greater truth, for it slences emotion and creates deeper thought. I have never seen a pothead commit a violent crime, most likely because they are too lazy to do so. There is alot of urban myth that surrounds marijuana and most of it comes from...

Some college campuses have considered complete bans on smoking. This would put students with medical marijuana cards at a disadvantage. They would have to leave campus whenever they were in pain. Yet, they are already banned from smoking on most high school campuses. Should we just tell them to...
