This guy has been running for President for 6 years. I would think it has to be a guinness world record. What do you think?
Hasn't Ron Paul been running for much longer than that? I was just reading some guy's blog-- he said he voted for Paul in 1988!
I forgot about him! Maybe the both of them will become proud recipients of the Guiness World Record. Only difference between them now though, is Romney is expected to get the nomination when Ron Paul hasn't won the nomination in all his years of trying.
To oldandwise: The late Richard Nixon has been running for president for 8 years from the period of 1960 until 1968. He FINALLY won and achieved his desired dream until he self-sabotaged himself regarding the Watergate incident.
It just amazes me, how much money is spent to buy a political position. What a waste! I forgot about him as well.
Some people never stopped campaigning for Nixon. Hunter S. Thompson and Bill Murray tried to start a re-election campaign for Nixon in 1978 for the 1980 election. I still encourage my Republican friends to write-in Tricky Dick Nixon.
It is relevant to make a point. It shows at what length both parties will go, Wasting Money, to gain their personal fame. You can't convince me these candidates want to help average Americans out so much, that they are willing to spend millions of dollars to get elected.
LOL, oldandwise. When I saw your thread title I was sincerely expecting the record to be for number of flip-flops!
I don't think Mormons are allowed to drink Guinness.
Speaking of election money, Obama and the DNC are expected to spend $1 billion. Add to that what the GOP is spending. I say the amount is OBSCENE!!
How long did Nader run?
You're right. They don't subscribe to the "Guiness is good for you!" line.
That amount of money is simply obscene. Think of all the good that could be done with $1 billion.
Sickening.
It seriously makes me ill, MM. That money could save people's homes, feed the hungry, and pay for medical care for the needy. And both parties are guilty. WHY do we allow this?? That's why average citizens have no hope of becoming POTUS.
Why do average citizens allow this? Because they only hear what the news or should I say opinion reporters want you to believe. They don't want to be accused of picking the wrong candidates and being on the "losing team". So instead, they put on their blinders and wait to see how most vote. Instead of being upset with this amount being spent, they become "Followers of who they think will win and forget at what cost". And in most cases the one spending the most, wins.
I thought you were going to say he would be the oldest if elected.
Obama can never match Romney's money. There are stories out about the oil men in Texas....they could buy the presidency all on their own. More money than whole countries!
And check Out Kronos Capital,HIG Capital...all giving to Romney. Doesn't matter how many times you sing America the beautiful...you can't disguise these as Patriotic.
In this I'm with Newt and Sarah: Rage against the money machine!
Newt Gingrich? The guy who was a lobbyist for Freddie Mac? If he wasn't the one driving the money machine at the very least he was the one making sure it ran smoothly and without interference from those pesky government regulators.
He is chump change compared to Romney...they all are.
You're kidding, right?
Obama raised $68 million in the 4th quarter of 2011.
Romney raised $24 million during the same period.
In 2008, the Obama campaign spent $750 million. Do you know who his biggest donors were?

Mitt Romney Has a 20 Point Lead in South Carolina. Is the GOPNomination Over? I thought that Romney would take New Hampshire, then lose some southern states, and leave the door open for someone else to come from behind. But it's now looking like Romney will roll to a GOP...

In light of the latest developments in the republican primaries i'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I don't see a path for Romney to win the nomination, I think after florida Gingrich runs away with it.
