GREAT LEADERS ARE RARELY “REALISTIC” BY OTHER PEOPLE’S STANDARDS.
As a leader, you must be close enough to your people to affect their lives but you must be as far ahead enough to provide direction and guidance.
One great quality of leadership is the ability to see and think ahead of the present time. Many leaders live many years far ahead of their followers such that the followers view some of their decisions and plans as unrealistic.
When you are standing on the flat ground and somebody else stands on a hill and tells you what he can see, which you cannot see even though both of you are looking in the same direction he will by all means sound unrealistic to you. So is leadership. The leader has foresight by virtue of his position as the leader, and by virtue of the onus or the responsibility vested in him to show the way.
This makes great leaders rarely ‘realistic’ by the standard of their followers.
