Chanting Hare Krishna Songs

Hare Krishna songs are melodious devotional chants sung by the pure devotee of the Lord.

They are not material music not written for any material gain and are not commercial in any way.

Give some attention to reading the songs or chants of the hare krishna until you fully understand their meaning. When you become fully Krishna Conscious then illustrate that in the comments section. It can happen in one second. The focus of this lens is to awaken the Krishna consciousness in you.

Everyone who sings these Hare Krishna songs will have an easy journey back to home back to Godhead.

Sankirtana Yajna (Conregational Chanting)

by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

In the Age of Kali, the sankirtana-yajna (the chanting of the names of God) is recommended by the Vedic scriptures, and this transcendental system was introduced by Lord Caitanya for the deliverance of all men in this age. Sankirtana-yajna and Krsna consciousness go well together. Lord Krsna in His devotional form (as Lord Caitanya) is mentioned in the Srimad-Bhagavatam as follows, with special reference to the sankirtana-yajna:

krsna-varnam tvisakrsnam sangopangastra-parsadam

yajnaih sankirtana-prayair yajanti hi su-medhasah

"In this Age of Kali, people who are endowed with sufficient intelligence will worship the Lord, who is accompanied by His associates, by performance of sankirtana-yajna." (Bhag. 11.5.32) Other yajnas prescribed in the Vedic literatures are not easy to perform in this Age of Kali, but the sankirtana-yajna is easy and sublime for all purposes.

the worship Tulsi is recommended by Lord Siva as being greater than even worsip of Lord Visnu.

Sri Tulasi Pranama

vrindayai tulasi-devyai

vrndayai--unto Vrnda; tulasi-devyai--unto Tulasl Devi; priyayai-- who is dear; kesavasya--to Lord Kesava; ca-and; krsna-bhakti-- devotional service to Lord Krsna, prade--who bestows; devi--O goddess; satya-vatyai--unto Satyavati; namah namah--repeated obeisances.

I offer my repeated obeisances unto Vrnda, Srimati Tulasi Devi, who is very dear to Lord Kesava. O goddess, you bestow devotional service to Lord Krsna and possess the highest truth.

Sri Tulasi Kirtana

namo namaha tulasi! krishna-preyasi

radha-krishna-seva pabo ei abhilashi

je tomara sharana loy, tara vanchha purna hoy

kripa kori' koro tare brindavana-basi

sri-radha-govinda-preme sada jena bhasi

O Tulasi, beloved of Krsna, I bow before you again and again. My desire is to obtain the service of Sri Sri Radha-Krsna.

Whoever takes shelter of you has his wishes fulfilled. Bestowing your mercy on him, you make him a resident of Vrndavana.

My desire is that you will also grant me a residence in the pleasure groves of Sri Vrndavana-dhama. Thus, within my vision I will always behold the beautiful pastimes of Radha and Krsna.

I beg you to make me a follower of the cowherd damsels of Vraja. Please give me the privilege of devotional service and make me your own maidservant.

This very fallen and lowly servant of Krsna prays, ''May I always swim in the love of Sri Radha and Govinda.

Sri Tulasi Pradaksina Mantra

yani kani cha papani

brahma-hatyadikani cha

tani tani pranashyanti

pradakshinaha pade pade

yani kani--whatever; ca--and; papani--sins; brahma-hatya--killing of a brahmana; adikani--and so on; ca--also, tani tani--all of them; pranasyanti--are destroyed; pradaksinah--(by) the circumambulation (of Tulasi Devi); pade pade--at every step.

By the circumambulation of Srimati Tulasi Devi all the sins that one may have committed are destroyed at every step, even the sin of killing a brahmana.

Vrnda devi is a pure devotee of Lord Krsna and is responsible for setting up the wonderful pastimes of Radha and Krsna in Vrndavana. She exists as Tulasi to benefit the fallen conditioned souls by bestowing devotional service to Krsna.

1) Krsna is the lover of Radha. He displays many amorous pastimes in the groves of Vrndavana, He is the lover of the cowherd maidens of Vraja, and the holder of the great hill named Govardhana.

2) He is the beloved son of mother Yasoda, the delighter of the inhabitants of Vraja, and He wanders in the forests along the banks of the River Yamuna!

Kirtan and Bhajan - the two types of chanting

Kirtana- congregational chanting of Maha Mantra

Bhajana- soft sweet song in praise of Lord, often sung alone

In a lecture from February 21, 1969, Srila Prabhupada states:

"This bhajate, this bhajate, this word, Sanskrit word, it comes from the root bhaj, bhaj-dhatu. It is a verb, bhaj-dhatu. Bhaj means to render service. Bhaja. So this very word is used in this verse, bhaj-dhatu. That means one who is devotee. Who renders service to Krsna unless he is devotee?Suppose you are rendering service here. Why? You can render service anywhere, you get thousand dollars or two thousand dollars every month. But here you come and give your service without any payment. Why? Because out of love of Krsna. Therefore this bhaj, this service, loving service, is based on love of Godhead. Otherwise why one should waste his time for nothing? Here these students, they are engaged in so many things. Somebody is gardening, somebody is typing, somebody is cooking, somebody is cooking, somebody is doing something else, everything. But it is in connection with Krsna. Therefore the Krsna consciousness is prevailing, always, twenty-four hours. That is the highest type of yoga"

"Be though happy by this sacrifice because its performance will bestow upon you all desirable things." - Chanting

Hare Krishna! Jai Srila Prabhupada! it is very nice to another Krishna devotee on here and to see how you are spreading Krishna consciousness. I think the Internet can also be dovetailed to be used in Krsna's service.

One little snippet of advice I would say is to start from a point that any random person, including a nondevotee, can understand. I feel you dive a little too quickly (enthusiasm is great though!) into talking about Krishna and the mantras before explaining who Krishna is and what the mantras mean. Srila Prabhupada has given wonderful quotes on how Krishna means, "all attractive", and the mantra means, "O Lord, O energy of the Lord, please accept me." It is a call for help. So simple explanations like this that give a bit of introduction would help, I think.

      Great lens!
