But it's not about giving things up, it's about making a happier life with less, and having fun in the process! InterNational Downshifting Week is the brainchild of Tracey Smith. It started out as a UK holiday - National Downshifting Week began in 2003 and has been expanding across the globe ever since!

Rubbish Flatbreads - Use up those leftovers at a Flatbread Fiesta
The idea behind Rubbish Flatbreads is that you turn those leftovers lurking in the refrigerator into fabulous family food. If you're celebrating InterNational Downshifting Week, why not have a Flatbread Fiesta, and invite friends and neigbours to bring their leftovers round and make a flabulous Flatbread Feast :)

Tracey has lots of ideas on how to celebrate InterNational Downshifting week, for schools, companies and individuals. You can build your own traditions, but why not try the Flatbread Fiesta, or invited your girlfriends round for a swishing party to swap unwanted clothes for something new to you?
If you're celebrating with kids then why not take a good look at your trash and see whether you can turn any of it into treasure - cool recycling is lots of fun, and will keep the kids happy for hours.
Head outside, enjoy the spring weather and think about sowing a few seeds. Growing your own food can be fun, and it will get you outside on a regular basis all year round. If you don't have the space for a vegetable patch, or fancy something more exotic, then why not try growing your own spice garden?
Or head off down to your local animal shelter and volunteer and hour or two to help take care of the animals, or take a dog for a walk :)
