Rubbish Flatbreads - Use up those leftovers at a Flatbread Fiesta

The idea behind Rubbish Flatbreads is that you turn those leftovers lurking in the refrigerator into fabulous family food. The Book of Rubbish Ideas

Slow down and Green Up

Every householder should have a copy of this easy reference guide to reducing household waste and stopping wasteful behaviour. The book is a top down guided tour through the average family home, from bedroom and bathroom through to the kitchen and out into the garden.

Although the percentage we recycle is increasing we still need to dramatically reduce the amount of waste we produce whether that be waste from the kitchen or bathroom or garden shed.

Full of practical tips and quirky ideas – from insulating your loft to jazzing up your old clothes; growing your own food to keeping chickens.

Celebrate Downshifting Week in style

Have fun with it :)

Tracey has lots of ideas on how to celebrate InterNational Downshifting week, for schools, companies and individuals. You can build your own traditions, but why not try the Flatbread Fiesta, or invited your girlfriends round for a swishing party to swap unwanted clothes for something new to you?

If you're celebrating with kids then why not take a good look at your trash and see whether you can turn any of it into treasure - cool recycling is lots of fun, and will keep the kids happy for hours.

Head outside, enjoy the spring weather and think about sowing a few seeds. Growing your own food can be fun, and it will get you outside on a regular basis all year round. If you don't have the space for a vegetable patch, or fancy something more exotic, then why not try growing your own spice garden?

Or head off down to your local animal shelter and volunteer and hour or two to help take care of the animals, or take a dog for a walk :)

Don't forget, InterNational DownShifting Week is all about spending less and doing less, so that you can enjoy life more!

Trash the Trash - Deal with your garbage

Tracey Smith reads from her Book of Rubbish Ideas, giving you hints and tips on reducing the amount you waste, saving money and the planet at the same time. But it will be fun!

Congrats on being one of the Best of April's Silly Celebrations. I have downshifted in the last few years - I can recommend it to anyone. Our lives can get very cluttered, very easily.
