It's official, people are crazy............just in case you had any doubts.

I normally don't like to talk politics with people (I talk about them with my cats), mainly because they're nuts, both politics and the people talking about them. I always tell people I'm a Republicrat, I just vote for the better man (or woman) regardless of what robot leader they serve. Also, when I'm asked my race I always check "other" and write in European American.

Case in point, today I overheard something pretty amusing, this little old white lady who was Republican and I know this because she made a point of telling everybody over and over again, was speaking her mind about the president. She was talking about Obama and her fears about him getting reelected, in a nutshell the world would end if that were to happen. She was worried that he may get reelected, not based on his merits, but because all the black people would vote for him just because he's black.

I took a moment to digest the crap she was spewing and thought to myself, don't the majority of Republicans just vote for candidates because they're Republicans....for the most part anyway. Isn't this kind of like the pot calling the kettle black....pardon the pun. Now I would have loved to tell this lady how I felt, but I was kind of in enemy territory.....a Walmart in Florida is not really a good place to have an opinion other than that of Rush Limbaugh's if you catch my drift. Does anyone hear any banjos or is it just me!?

Now I don't care what your political alliance is, I don't care if you like Obama or not, but just please try not to sound like an ignorant backwoods hillbilly when you're spreading all your nonsense all over the place.

Thanks for taking the time to read my rant, have a great day.

This has been a Mele minute.

@Alecia Murphy that is a very good idea...keep a safe distance from these political nuts...both Republican and Democrat alike.

@Sharkye11 very well said...it's scary out there. Unfortunately when it comes to politics we are a nation divided, not unified, which in itself is very sad. Now I'm not saying all Republicans are bad people and/or crazy...but there are some that belong in a cage at the zoo...as well as some Democrats. I'm still in favor of a "thinking" party...one that doesn't side with a person just because of their political affiliation...one that actually has people who...wait for it...think for themselves and do what's in their best interest, not what's in the best interest of their party.

Great hub! I consider myself a "progressive", and will vote for any party that wants to move forward, not back to Puritan days. In my spot in Oklahoma I am surrounded the very rabid Republicans. (and I will say that I am great friends with people of all and no party affiliation...as long as they aren't insane!)

I was actually told by one of my husband's relations that he would "love to rip my face off for voting un--American." So, I completely understand that enemy territory statement!

Voting and sharing this for being practical advice; know your facts before you tout!

I think people have totally taken the issues out of politics in America. That's why I find myself listening to people's political conversations instead of being involved. Like you said people take an inch and run a mile. If you're crazy best to let people think it instead of opening your mouth and confirming it. Great hub!

@fpherj48 thank you very much for the kind words and support...I really appreciate it. Also, I'm very happy to know that I'm in good company...it's hard to find people who actually think for themselves nowadays.

Michael....HI! I voted this mele minute UP and across the board.... Love it! and not simply because I agree 100%.

Hubby and I are "Independents" too....having the audacity to vote for the person, as opposed to party. Can't imagine being die-hard, blindly loyal to anything or anyone based upon their "affiliation."......

I am duly impressed with your talent and style. You've earned yourself a follow. Peace!

Politics in America is pretty confusing. Most Americans don't understand that it is extremely abnormal for a democracy to be ruled from local to federal by only two political parties. In contrast, most European states have about five to eight parties involved in national elections. It is pretty insane--but that's why there is a whole field called political science.

I agree. People sound like idiots when they are trashing one party. Facebook has become the place of bashing adults. I cant fathom why they can't just stop being mean to people they dont know.
