What Are These Mental Traps Which Lead Everyone To Denial, Indifference and Inaction in Saving Mother Earth?

Updated on February 17, 2018
Can we or can we not save the earth from plastics?
Can we or can we not save the earth from plastics?

The Scenario

There is really something wrong around us. We can see piles of garbage along the streets, the vast solid pollutants in seas, oceans, rivers, lakes and streams, the black smokes from vehicles and factories, destruction of forests, water shortage, loss of biodiversity and even cigarette smokes.

One alarming environmental issue that the entire world is into nowadays is climate change. We are all aware that people all over the world are experiencing unpredictable weather conditions these past few years. Queries on climate and weather are now the most common issues especially for those who are not in the scientific world; let’s say those people in the grass roots. Their concepts then on the two issues lie on their simple, everyday and previous experiences, affected by the rising of the tides and even the presence of the moon and the strength of the winds all over the skies. Climate change can be natural and it always happens. But natural climate change occurs over millions of years giving people enough time to adapt. Thus natural climate change is usually not too bad. But climate change can also be man - made. Global warming can be caused by an increase in the amount of heat being received from the sun. But the drastic and fast global warming that is occurring now is seen as a result of an increased concentration of green house gases like carbon dioxide. Most researchers, climatologists and scientists all over the world agree that one effective solution to the problem is to reduce the amount of green house gases produced. This can be done by switching over to clean energy sources, ones that do not produce green house gases.

Of course, each one of us is driven by a strong desire to save the earth.. Countries all over the world with researchers, climatologist and scientists are into working on effective measures to mitigate the impacts of climate change. All sectors of the society are also into advocacy to do their share. But still we can feel the hesitatations of some individuals or groups because of some mental traps which are leading them to denial, indifference and inaction.

Now what are these mental traps all about?

1. Gloom-and-doom pessimism which is on the idea that “Everything is hopeless.”

2. Blind technological optimism is all about the idea that Science and techno fixes will save us”

3. Fatalism believes that We have no control over our actions and the future.”

4. Extrapolation to infinity is on the idea that “If I cannot change the entire world quickly, I will try to change any of it.”

5. Paralysis by analysis believes that “Searching for the perfect worldview, philosophy, solutions and scientific information before anything.” .

6. Faith in simple, easy answers.

What are these mental traps all about?

More and more people are becoming aware of the importance of saving mother earth. Indeed, the sense of urgency behind the drive to save the environment is stronger than ever before. After all, we only have one planet; if this one becomes totally ruined, our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will not have a home. If we all do our part to save mother earth, it is definitely possible. Therefore, people should learn as much as they can about ways that they can help save the environment; by working together, our planet can remain habitable for centuries to come.

Some suggest that we can move beyond blame, guilt, fear, and apathy by recognizing and avoiding the fol- lowing two common mental traps that lead to denial, indifference, and inaction. Let us save the planet earth because this is the only home we have. how? reduce the garbage by recycle them. eliminate using appliances and transportation that cause a negative impact on the planet earth. let us show the love on our planet to have everyone and the next generation a better life.

We can still save the Earth by showing our responsibility, discipline and care for our environment. We should be responsible in everything we do and the act we do we should be responsible example in disposal of garbage we should dispose the garbage properly. Discipline, if all people here in the world are well disciplined I think this problem in our environment wouldn't happen. If we care for our environment like how it care for us I think we wouldn't suffered to the environmental issues like climate change air water and land pollution. We can still save the mother earth if we do our task if everyone cooperate.

In order for something to be saved, one must first be knowledgeable of his true intentions so he would be aware of what his own capacities are capable of. To save Mother Earth is not a easy as it seems. It is actually much easier said than done. We can't do this if we stand alone in this battle. In this matter, we need the cooperation and a sense of understanding from everyone. We can begin with the smallest unity of society which is our family, by educating them on what are the aftermaths of such disorder in our environment. Then, we can proceed outside, and ask the community for better assistance. And then hopefully, the rest will follow.

Jessica Ocampo BSBA1-1. Our environment is constantly changing. There is no denying that. However, as our environment changes, so does the need to become increasingly aware of the problems that surround it. With a massive influx of natural disasters, warming and cooling periods, different types of weather patterns and much more, people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our planet is facing.

Global warming has become an undisputed fact about our current livelihoods; our planet is warming up and we are definitely part of the problem. However, this isn’t the only environmental problem that we should be concerned about. All across the world, people are facing a wealth of new and challenging environmental problems every day. Some of them are small and only affect a few ecosystems, but others are drastically changing the landscape of what we already know.

Our planet is poised at the brink of a severe environmental crisis. Current environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies, now and in the future. We are in a state of planetary emergency, with environmental problems piling up high around us. Unless we address the various issues prudently and seriously we are surely doomed for disaster. Current environmental problems require urgent attention.

There are many things that we could do to help the environment. We need to help the environment because we live on earth, and this is the only place we can live on right now. If we treat it like the city dump it becomes dirty and unlivable. If we treat it well, the earth stays a clean place, perfect for living, for ourselves and our children.

In order to save the environment you need to be aware of what you are doing, buying, using, and what it does to the environment

You're hopeless, useless, burdensome. Nothing will ever go well, everyone is always better than you, you'll never be perfect. You want to be liked, but you're unlovable, and a failure at life. Sound familiar?

To the majority of people this language does. Mental traps serve as the rusty cogs that continue the mechanic cycles of pain and hopelessness. In many instances, they are so deeply ingrained in the mind, that the victim lives completely oblivious of their existence.

The most important thing to realize about these cognitive errors is that they're maladaptive ways of dealing with the world and the self. Living in the world of mental traps is like living a lie. Your perception is tainted with a melancholy negativity that brings forth absurd, unrealistic, and untruthful thoughts.

But to overcome this, constant and vigilant mindfulness and introspection must be applied. To do that however, we must become aware of what these traps are.

We can see in the above articles the different mental traps that ruin or change everyone to become denial or indifference.

      1. Gloom-and-doom pessimism which is on the idea that “Everything is hopeless.”

      2. Blind technological optimism is all about the idea that “Science and techno fixes will save us”

      3. Fatalism believes that “We have no control over our actions and the future.”

There has many changes happening today. But what worst is it does not affect only the environment but also the human and everything around. We must be alert and always ready for this changes and learn how to adapt to new things and must be open minded to see thing in a clear or in a positive way of life.

In order to save the environment you need to be aware of what you are doing, buying, using, and what it does to the environment.

There are many ways we can help save the environment everyday. You can reduce the amount of waste you produce by buying products in bulk, rather than in individually wrapped containers. You can also reuse things. Do not throw away unwanted used computer paper, use the other side for scratch paper, then recycle it. Before you throw broken things away, see how much it would take to repair them. Donate used clothes, furniture, toys, books, and magazines to charity. It is also very easy to recycle. You can try to find recycling centers in your area that will accept toner cartridges, aluminum & steel cans, newspapers & phone books, plastic jugs & bottles, glass jars & bottles, shopping bags, car batteries, and motor oil. Another thing you can do if you have a yard to do it in is compost. Compost makes a great fertilizer for your plants. If you try to stay away from using disposable plates, cups, napkins, and plastic ware, that would help. Something people a lot of times don't think of is using rechargeable batteries or renewable alkaline batteries. Whenever possible, use fluorescent lighting.

Our mother Earth is not in danger. WE are in danger. Nothing anyone can do will cause irreparable harm to the planet. However, the actions of humans are making the planet less and less hospitable for ourselves (and other organisms). When we change things enough we will go extinct and the planet will go on. We all have to work together to save the environment. There are things that you can do as an individual to help out.

You may not be able to reduce global warming, end pollution and save endangered species single-handed, but by choosing to live an earth-friendly lifestyle you can do a lot every day to help achieve those goals.

And by making wise choices about how you live, and the amount of energy and natural resources you consume, you send a clear message to businesses, politicians and government agencies that value you as a customer, constituent and citizen.

      Consumers Energy Programs

      Saving Electricity

      Reduce Energy Bill

Here are five simple things you can do—in 30 minutes or less—to help protect the environment and save Planet Earth.

Our Mother Earth is a unique, indivisible, self-regulating community of interrelated beings that sustains, contains and reproduces all beings.

We cannot bring back its natural beauty but we can help to maintain its remaining beauty by simple segregate bio-degradable and non-biodegradable garbage. We can be great eco-warriors that can prevent the Earth from further damage. We need to be aware of how huge contributions we can to minimize global warming, pollution and other threats against the environment, the world would probably a healthier place to live at. With simple things, we can create huge ripples of changes. People often take for granted the abundance of resources that are reaped from the earth and forget that it is everyone’s responsibility to take care of the world in which we live. Though many may feel powerless to halt the destruction of the earth, there are small contributions that can help maintain the health of the planet. We should always remember the three "Rs" Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

It is totally right people need to start trying to save the earth. I mean people need to do something. We are literally standing on earth while it is being destroyed all around us. I don’t take that much time to throw a can in the trash and not on the ground. It’s so much easier for the earth when it doesn’t have to decompose a bunch of garbage. It's like nobody cares anymore except for people that volunteer their time to help the earth each and every day. If we would recycle one thing a day and everyone participated it would take a lot off our earth. It even helps for us to make this because people always look on just one side. Me as a future educator I want to HELP THE EARTH ,and teach my student to BE EARTH FRIENDLY so that to produce a strong desire to save our planet.

In our generation, climate change is very critical. As a student and future teacher we can do and we can help to save the Earth. If you will not be a good leader, what you are doing will not action as good as well . As teacher we should start from ourselves, to be their role model, so they will copy the good things you are doing on the environment. There are so many things to do to help our mother Earth. Our environment is very polluted. We can save our the Earth by planting trees, dont burn plastics and don't throw waste anywhere. We just have only one planet, so we should take good care of it. We have to start now, so we don't have to say that we lost another yesterday. Save the Earth, Save lives..

Our Mother Earth is calling us. Begging for us to save the place where we only human exist. Sometimes, people are doing such things that is not good in the environment but they are not aware of that. We keep on complaining how it affects our lives but we do not admit that it happened because of our own action. Climate change, pollution and global warming are very alarming. Environmental issues are now taking part in our lives. We should avoid those mental traps and stop denial and no action at all. At the end of the day, we can do something. I remember in our seminar talking about environmental issues, it says that great actions comes along from small ideas. We should not depend on the power of the technology. We should have faith.Faith that we still have the power to solve it and live safer like it was before. Lastly, we should be responsible in whatever we are doing. Every action has its corresponding consequences.

Through deforestation, urbanization, industrialization, and pollution, our environment is being destroyed. Flows of energy, nutrients, and other elements are disrupted. Global warming and climate change are the major threats to Earth and all human beings. Due to carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases emitted by civilization, heat is building up in the atmosphere at a rate not seen for tens of millions of years. The cities are becoming “heat islands.” Pollution is becoming a great killer. Levels of air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, and food contamination are high. Human interference has brought nature close to destruction. Now we all must come together to save the environment and humankind.

Without the Earth we have nowhere to live, along with many other organisms. If we don't save the Earth now maybe our children or grandchildren might not be able to see it for long. Our atmosphere is weakening and we have to do something about it fast.

We could plant more trees to create more oxygen to keep the bad air away from the atmosphere, or we could just stop cutting down the rainforest. We are living and we need the space but we aren't the only species on this earth. Saving the rainforest is not only good for us and the atmosphere but also good for the many different species that it homes.

We could try to get as many people as possible to switch to hybrids and other energy saving things to use less fossil fuel for energy and relying more on solar and wind energy.

Fossil fuels are destroying our earth and we need to limit the use of it.

Recycling is a great and easy way to help our precious planet. Everyone can help, all they have to do is follow three simple rules; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

The world is precious and we need to keep it that way.

Climate change is a very huge global problems nowadays , it's getting more alarming , we can see this in it's effects such as: green house gases , changing in climate patterns and illenesses that we , humans can encounter.

The Earth is only one so we better take care of it so much. By controlling our acrivities that might affects our mother nature. We need values to preserve it's beauty and also we need oneness to stop climate change. We are the one who responsible why we encounter this now , so we are also the one who responsible in making a move and finding a solution to prevent it . Anyone can be leader, we only need a good follower and a better plans to start up this good advocacy and turn it into good outcome so by means of this we can push ourselves to make a better community and peaceful planet.

As I was reading this, I remembered a post that I read a days ago, it states there that 10 months from now Earth will become more hotter than we are experiencing right now, it will increase for about 7 degrees Farenheit and it is because of Climate Change! Yes, the unending climate change that caused by the people who lack in discipline. They never bother to respect and take care of the Mother Earth. But never think that this climate change can't be cured, it can. We, the youths of this generation are considered to be called the "Pag asa ng Bayan" so we should not loose hope. We can still change the world by means of doing simple things. In everything there is a hope, we should have to believe in ourself and our abilities that we can change the world, that we can still make the world a paradise again like before and not make it more polluted.

As a future teacher, we should NOT teach our students to fully depend on the power of science and technology that they can solve the problem in the climate change because as we all know technology can consider as one of the cause of this chaos if people overused it. Lastly, as an individual, we must have Faith! Faith that we can still resolve it, all we have to do is to take care of our environment. As a student, we should develop a respect, discipline and genuine love for our environment.

Nowadays environmental problems are too big to be managed by individual persons or individual countries. In other words, it is an international problem. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The problems of the environment have become very notorious for the present civilisation. Unfortunately, people are witnesses of completely desolate, spoiled territories and very changeable climate. As a result, the world aspires to unify efforts of each country and every person in a fight with global problems of the environment. At the same time, it would not be a democratic discussion if some negative tendencies were overlooked, for instance, that there are many speculations about ecological problems because it has become very prestigious and beneficial to protect the environment.

It is important to clarify and define the key problems of the environment. There are many serious changes in the global climate, for instance, the vast glaciers in the pole regions have been melting. At the same time, this process endangers many countries, which are situated near the sea. The problem is that melted ice enhances the danger of devastating flooding.

The present situation with the environment dictates the importance of finding solutions to this problem. In many countries, there are a significant number of non-governmental organisations, which have as an aim to protect the ecological system. However, as it was mentioned above the negative processes in the world are so global and intensive that local non-governmental organisations are not able to be so effective. This is the main reason, which has provoked strained deliberations between many countries, and this dialog has helped them to arrive at the decision that it is very important to unify global efforts. There is a considerable number of many positive examples of this work. For instance, the UN is an organisation, which is very successful in the protection of the environment.

Thank you for sharing this article ma'am cruz.

Environmental issues are not new to all of us. Man benefits everything from our nature. We owe all of these to Mother Earth.

As man enjoys getting all the things he need from his surroundings, they became greedy and uncontented of it. They are thirsty for more. Innovation and production of resources that will help them reach for that more. They are now abusive and careless to their nature.

Consequences of these acts are now evident for past few years. We may notice that as man looks beyond what he have, he is now haunted. Man experience natural phenomana that may ask for his life in exchange. Disasters and accidents are results of man's desires.

Nowadays, man tries everything to save his life. He learns to reduce, reuse and recycle. All his efforts to solve environmental issues. Even looking for and discovering another life capable planet-Earth 2.0 .

As man tries to know new things about life and world through all the sciences he know, he shortens and provokes his own life to his death. By and large, man, though at risk, must find a catalyst to change today's problem through a constant and optimistic view of doing it for humanity.

Allia Kate Maximo BSBA 1-1 There are many small, easy ways to contribute to saving mother earth. You can try only running the tap when absolutely necessary; this saves water and can, in turn, help save the environment. Never litter; saving mother earth begins with cleaning up after yourself. Maraming filipino ang matitigas ang ulo, minsan pag sumasakay ako ng public vehicle may mga pasahero na pagkatapus kumain tinatapon nalang kung saan saan. If all of us think that "Isa lang naman 'tong basurang itatapon ko sa daan/kung saan saan, hindi naman babaha dahil sa isa lang naman 'to" our country will over flow with litters. And if all of us think that way there are millions of litters, and it will cause floods. Where possible, ride a bicycle to get around; less cars on the road can significantly help save the environment. Turn off unused lights in your home to further enhance your fight to save mother earth, and encourage others that you know to follow suit and spread awareness. We should take responsibly in taking care our environment. Because we are all responsible for it. We should take care of our environment kasi tayo din naman ang maapektuhan kung ibabahala nalang natin at hindi pagbibigay halaga at pansin sa ating kalikasan. Our environment is very important, because it gives foods, shelters and etc. Sabi nga ni Mother Teresa " Yesterday is gone, tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. LET US BEGIN" :)

As technology increases, humans affect nature more. Maybe if we switched back to our ancient lifestyle, the earth would be saved. But that will never be the solution- it is not possible anymore. We have to find ways to make our modern lifestyle coexist with the environment.

Our life and morals are ruled by money. We are more and more dependent on oil, and huge companies that are based on greed rule the capitalist world. America, once covered in forests, is now an endless chain of shopping strips. McDonalds are in every corner, blaring signs and streetlights blot out the stars, and smoggy pollution fills the air.

Luckily, through the thick haze of filth we cover our Earth with, hope filters in. The same science that is causing the devastation of our world is also coming up with cures. Fuel-efficient cars come out every year, like hybrids. Species are studied and bred in zoos. Recycling has become part of our every day life. Despite the enormous efforts people are putting into preserving the environment, this still is not enough.

There are just too many issues to fix, and at the heart of them is human overpopulation. According to scientists, our numbers will reach the carrying capacity around 2030. Anything could ensue, from mass starvation, overuse of all resources, to epidemics worse than the black plague. The time where families have twelve children is over. If the human population doesn't come under control soon, our future will be bleak.

We cannot continue with our wasteful way of life. Saving the environment is not just about helping the cute and cuddly panda bear, it is about us. We are the ones who created these problems, and we must be the ones to fix them.

Before we born, before the technologies created, before the buildings build. Our Mother Earth is Clean and Happy. But in the time that we are born this cleanliness and happiness started to destroy. Before climate change is not harmful to us human. But this time climate change is the one of the dangerous that we dont want. This is a visitor in our houses that not allowed to enter. We scared to climate change, but we are the one why this harmful climate change created. In this small world you need to have respect, a respect that first came to your heart and mind. We can change, we can have a powerfull mind set to. To prevent the assumption of Climate Change. And avoid excessive destruction of our nature.

Water pollution is an environmental issue that affects many water bodies. This photograph shows foam on the New River as it enters the United States from Mexico.

Environmental issues are harmful effects of human activity on the biophysical environment. Environmentalism, a social and environmental movement, addresses environmental issues through advocacy, education and activism.

The carbon dioxide equivalent of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere has already exceeded 400 parts per million (NOAA) (with total "long-term" GHG exceeding 455 parts per million). (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report) This level is considered a tipping point. "The amount of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere is already above the threshold that can potentially cause dangerous climate change. We are already at risk of many areas of pollution...It's not next year or next decade, it's now." Report from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)

The main problem or issue that we are facing concerning our "Mother Earth" is climate change. Climate change that slowly kill our home, the planet earth. But, why are we facing such a tremendous and destructive issue? Is it because of the nature itself? Of course not! It is definitely because of us, "Humans". Humans are the ones who destroy our planet, and yet we still don't have the guts to fix it? Aren't we the stewards of nature? But what is happening? Every day, every hour, every minute, every second, rapid changes occur that lead to malfunction and contribute to global warming.

We all know that some of us have that strong desire to save our mother earth, but why can't we have the so-called unity within us to do it? Simply, because many of us are experiencing 'mental traps' that lead them to indenial, indifference, inaction and many more. So as as future educator, it is my duty to fill my students not just with knowledge but also with values that will help them to see the current happenings about our precious earth and for them to develop the love and care for it. I believe that with my help, I can produce students with strong desire to save and develop power to act as a whole to contribute in helping our own home.

Each one of us is driven by a strong desire to save the earth..

Nowadays climate change is the biggest problem of the human being. In contemporary society, the climate change is one of the most important issues that have impacts in many aspects in human’s daily life. climate change will affect people and the environment in many ways. Some of these impacts, like stronger hurricanes and severe heat waves, could be life threatening. Others, like spreading weeds, will be less serious. As humans, we all have our own opinions, but the problem of global warming should not be debated, it should be solved.

i realized many things after i have read Mam Liwayway's post . Its very well said , full of facts and contains nothing but truth. Its is such a big contribution to awaken every mind of individuals that might lay eyes on this page for the sake of our loving nature . Yes, Everyone knew climate change and global warming , everyone knew the cause of it , us. But in my 16 years of existence here , after all activities campaign of such organization and programs ive been through , i never witness such serious action and consistency to them . Many people have been informed but dont take actions or they do it only when it was said. it only needs unity to save our mother earth , yet many forgot how to cooperate , they have reasons and make rationalization.

They thought i cant be helped anymore since the depletion of the ozone was there already , but we all knew i wasnt that late . its true we cant cure it anymore , but we can prevent it from getting worse atleast. Lets try to be optimistic , it will lead us for the better way of living, i learned that from one of my friends.

many also just relaxed and rely to technology . They believe so much that technology can find a way , which has a point but we cant still neglect the fact that human actions are the most large contribution that can be given for the environmental issue . We humans destroyed it , i guess we are also the one that should fix it . We shouldnt become so dependent on technology , we should take action , and the first thing to do is avoidance . People should avoid doing things that can harm or make the climate change worse , and thats the simplest way but a large help humans can do for their part.

We should stop trapping thoughts and reason for not doing actions . Exuses wasnt so satisfying . Having knowledge about the global warming was good , but it couldnt be any better than taking actions and do it consistenly and live a life bringing this lesson from now on .

It is our environment which is in danger , we should CARE . We shouldnt do exuses and even where on earth you hide , you cant escape from reality , bacause it is the planet Earth where you live . Im Queenie Marie Domingo , thankyou i learned a lot .

What Are These Mental Traps Which Lead Everyone To Denial, Indifference and Inaction in Saving Mother Earth?

When I was young, I thought that there is no wrong about the environment even though I always see trash and garbage everywhere (but I was taught to throw mine and other rubbish I notice in the proper trash bin) because they are all doing it. And in the perspective of a child, what an adult does is always right. That was the first Mental trap I grew up.

Then as we age, we've been introduced to many things and one of them is the Environmental awareness. Now, in my perspective as an adolescence, I certainly know what is wrong or right. But, talk about the perception of others. Even though they knew that they should not litter or should stop others to do it, they don't care. To ignore this even we do have awareness is a low blow. This is the second mental trap I am aware regarding global environmental issues.

Being fond of reading blogs, comments and stories online are sometimes an advantage to know the trends, but how about we read an article stating that being technology-dependent can save us the environment when it becomes worse? What might be our response? This is the third mental trap I know. Many will believe it, why? It can be that they saw the development of technologies can replace some things that are destroyed in the environment. But even I, know that it is a big No! Our planet, its resources, can never be replaced. God did it, then we can never make another one even it turns to be an exact replica.

My fourth is not from me, but from this article and from many. Fatalism believes that “We have no control over our actions and the future.” Absolutely bluff! How can not have control over our actions? We are not puppets, and definitely we have our own mind. It is true that we cannot know what is in the future but we all have the power to make it the way we wanted it to be. If this mental trap can bait us over our Environmental awareness and responsibility, then I must say that people's mind only knows crap.

There, should I say that there are so many mental traps that leads us to Denial, Indifference and Inaction in Saving Mother Earth because in every reason to save the planet, there is an opposite reason not to save it.

BUT sometimes we don't need reasons to do something right, because we are born to obey the good and there are many reasons not to do the wrong because it will only feedback bad things to us.

Our planet is in great danger. For the last one hundred or so years, the people of earth have wasted and misused the natural recourses of earth. Several plans have been developed to stop the abuse of the Earth, but then I guess in order for us to save the planet as an individual we must first avoid the common mental traps that leads to denial, indifference and inaction in saving our planet and these are; Gloom and doom pessimism or feeling it’s over; Blind technological optimism or the mindset that science will save us; Fatalism or the belief in we have no control of the future; Extrapolation to infinity - if there’s no quick fix, why bother? and the Paralysis by analysis - trying to find the perfect solution before acting.

These mental traps leads to inaction in saving Mother Earth.

We should always know that We are the most important species, and we are in charge of nature. We should start making change and let us help each other to have a better planet because this is the only planet that we have. Each one of us should be driven by a strong desire to save the earth.

The traps that many people failed to save our Mother Earth is that we always believe in everything, for example in business. An individual started to use plastics for the packs of his product, so when the buyer bought it, he need to remove the plastic and thrown it away everywhere,in that simple action, it will really affect our environment. It can be burn that causes Depletion on the Ozone Layer o it can blew away to the canals which can cause high level of water in low type buildings when the rain falls. We should really need to think for our every action. We should takecare and be aware of what is happening.Future happenings cannot be predicted.

Nowadays climate change is the biggest problem of the human being. It is already happening and represents one of the greatest environmental, social and economic threats facing the planet.

The warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global mean sea level. The Earth’s average surface temperature has risen by 0.76° C since 1850. Most of the warming that has occurred over the last 50 years is very likely to have been caused by human activities. In its Fourth Assessment Report projects that, without further action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the global average surface temperature is likely to rise by a further 1.8-4.0°C this century, and by up to 6.4°C in the worst case scenario. Even the lower end of this range would take the temperature increase since pre-industrial times above 2°C – the threshold beyond which irreversible and possibly catastrophic changes become far more likely.

The climate can affect every person and our health directly through increases in temperature. Such increases may lead to more extreme heat waves during the summer while producing less extreme cold spells during the winter. Particular segments of the population such as those with heart problems, asthma, the elderly, and the very young can be especially vulnerable to extreme heat. There can be extreme floods and droughts, hurricanes.

Nowadays there are so many factories that exhale really destructive substances and pollute the air. We all know very well that air is something we can’t live without. When we breathe the polluted air, we can get seriously ill. Ground-level ozone can damage lung tissue, and is especially harmful for those with asthma and other chronic lung diseases. Sunlight and high temperatures, combined with other pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds, can cause the ground-level ozone to increase. We cannot escape from the polluted air-it’s everywhere, even in our homes and we are breathing it non-stop. This can cause cancer and other serious diseases.

Another huge problem is that the sea levels are rising worldwide. Also the expansion of ocean water is caused by warmer ocean temperatures.. Mountain glaciers and small ice caps are melting as well as Greenland’s Ice Sheet and the Antarctic Ice Sheet. The temperature is rising which means that ice is melting faster and faster.

However, these are not the only problems. Another issue are the greenhouse gasses. They are gasses which trap heat in the atmosphere. Some greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide occur naturally by natural processes and other are created and emitted solely through human activities. For example carbon dioxide is entering the atmosphere because of human activities like burning of fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, and coal). All vehicles exhale too much damaging substances. People have been trying to reduce them but the problem is still topical and I think we have to do something like ride a bike not a car to work or school, we should take the shortest route possible, and plan our drive so that we will not backtrack or travel out of our way.We also may choose a clean-burning fuel, which reduces ozone-forming pollutants and buy a car that produces fewer emissions or runs using an alternative fuel. The taxes of cars should be higher and most of the people will prefer to use the public transport and we will no longer have traffic jams and we will reduce the damaging emissions.

As a conclusion, I think that when it can not do both, The UN should prioritize combating climate change over reducing poverty. Of course, poverty is a big issue, which needs a solution but have you ever asked yourself why the poor countries like Bangladesh, Gambia, Zambia are poor and why so many people die? It’s because the climate doesn’t allow them to grow food and they can’t afford to buy it from other countries. The climate is a very important thing and if we don’t stop the changes soon, more and more plants and trees are going to die, we won’t have enough food and then not only will the third world countries suffer from hunger but so will the whole world. I think it is better to first stop the changes in climate and then gradually reduce the hunger in the poor countries. Because if we stop the changes, we are going to be healthier and everything around us will be cleaner and it will be how it actually should be. I believe harmony between nature and human beings will return.

The onset of climate change has come about following over 200 years' worth of unchecked man made activity that's had a negative impact on the world around us - from deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels to driving cars or throwing away perfectly usable materials. Now, we're beginning to feel the effects of climate change around the globe. Scientists estimate that by the end of the 21st century, temperatures in the summer of over 40 degrees Celsius.

While we can't undo the damage caused to the environment, we can help decelerate the rate of change - and long-term, change the fate of the planet altogether. Half the problem for us as individuals, however, is the knowing where to start.

So as a student we can also help to lessen the problem that our environment encounters today. There are so many ways can help if we are willing to help whole heartedly. As a student a simply applying what we have learned in what we have read, saw and etc. it’s other way to help. Sharing what we have learned to other, for them to be aware in their action. Also we should be more open minded, know how to use human resources correctly, creative, role model and be positive thinker.

      I. YOU, WE can do something about environmental problems! Big problems in the environment can be solved if each of us start doing little things in our daily lives. Just have faith in ourselves and also to GOD .

By developing an ecomind, an outlook in which we shed certain “thought traps” of environmentalism, we can better implement a plan to heal our ailing planet.

There are many things that we could do to help the environment. We need to help the environment because we live on earth, and this is the only place we can live on right now. If we treat it like the city dump it becomes dirty and unlivable. If we treat it well, the earth stays a clean place, perfect for living, for ourselves and our children.

In order to save the environment you need to be aware of what you are doing, buying, using, and what it does to the environment.

There are many ways we can help save the environment everyday. You can reduce the amount of waste you produce by buying products in bulk, rather than in individually wrapped containers. You can also reuse things.

The inevitable change has made a great impact on how the earth expands and how it filters the changes that would be healthy for it but the fact that even unlikable changes happens nowadays scares me. But what is even more scary is the reality that implies that even people who ruined the world are the ones who are not really looking after fixing what they have ruined. As a future educator, there is a need for us to clear up indifferences and false beliefs about how alarming the situation is. Students must have a definite goal beneficial to the society. Traps which hinders proper taking good care of the environment must be explicitly explained to the students so tat their concern about the environment won't be stopped as well.

As a teacher, eliminating traps which changes the view of the society must start from us. We should be the ones to begin explaining which is relevant and which is not in the school. As we all know, children stay in school for about 8 hours a day so the proper information should be coming from teh school as well as from us teachers.

Environmental issue is like ruining our own lives. According to Timo Waltari, Mental traps serve as the rusty cogs that continue the mechanic cycles of pain and hopelessness. In many instances, they are so deeply ingrained in the mind, that the victim lives completely oblivious of their existence.

for me, the 6 mental traps are:

      1. the negativeness of people. we always says that "we can't" even though we are not trying to do it.

      2. we always giving the responsibility to the technologies to solve the problems we made. we people are less or lock of action.

      3. It happens that we have no control with our actions and future because of being practiced to do things not accordingly.

      4. Being nega can't keep you success. actually, there is no required age to help planet earth.

      5. have faith in yourself that yo can do all your plans.

      6. FAITH is the most best thing to have especially in times like this. Putting God first is like typing a word we have to know in google. ther is always answers.

Key environmental problems include air pollution, the destruction of the ozone layer, vast quantities of toxic waste, massive levels of soil erosion, the possible exhaustion of key natural resources such as oil and coal, and the extinction of plants and animals.

Those crisis is a sign that human need to react on the issue, it is a warning that we arein danger and also the world It a message that we need to response and must make a solution to prevent and to save our environment, we should always be ready and aware about that. based on what I read on your article those mental traps are:

      1. Gloom-and-doom pessimism which is on the idea that “Everything is hopeless.”

MY REACTION *it is true because many people has a mindset that everything is hopeless like in pollution they when they heard that word, they reaction is just like "we cant do it, or that matter is uncontrolled" . And they just let is happen.

      2. Blind technological optimism is all about the idea that “Science and techno fixes will save us”

MY REACTION *many of us think that technology is the key to sucess, thats not true we are always depend on modern tech. we are lock of action, why dont we take an action for better rather than give the responsibilities to those technology. Every action is important !!!!

      3. Fatalism believes that “We have no control over our actions and the future.”

MY REACTION*That's not right, we make are future we control our action. In the future if I become a successful, Im the one who make it,I control it o dont depent on fate .we cantrol that pollution, why? because we take an action we csn lessen the rate of polution?

      4. Extrapolation to infinity is on the idea that “If I cannot change the entire world quickly, I will try to change any of it.”

MY REACTION *In this case you think in a negative side, why dont you think on a positive side, always thing that everything is possible we change the the world for better.

      5. Paralysis by analysis believes that “Searching for the perfect worldview, philosophy, solutions and scientific information before anything.” .

MY REACTION *we always have plan but we didnt take any action so that we cant see any result. our focus is on the other thing its just like that - i do this ,that and anything- that cause we can see our environment our attention is diverse to other matter. why dont we try to look to the other we dont know we find there the solution.

      6. Faith in simple, easy answers

MY REACTION * Faith is powerful, it is true but why dont we try to balance faith and action sabi nga nasa tao ang gawa na Diyos ang awa , it is right god is always there for use to guide us he us our strength so in that case maintain the faith and take an action

The pyramid of life is on very shaky ground. Experts say that proper handling of waste materials, such as reusing or disposing of them properly, should constitute an important part of the our efforts to preserve energy and protect the environment. Countries worldwide should use less coal and more reusable power like hydro or solar power.

Let us plan our cities according to water available and not avail water for too many homes that have been crammed into development. Saving energy reduces air pollution and greenhouse gases. The less we pollute our environment, the more we prevent global warming. Let us check the seas from rising and submerging our lands.

Increasing number of organizations is being formed to prevent the planet from premature extinction. More and more corporates have joined the race to save the planet. We can simply begin by buying recycled products for your office, home or school. The greater the demand for recycled products, the more companies will be encouraged to add recycled material to their products.

And we can begin right at home. Let us reuse what we would easily throw away and conserve for a future. Recycle everything one can from newspapers, cans, glass bottles and jars, aluminum foil, motor oil, to scrap metals. We should avoid using electrical appliances for things one can easily do by hand, such as opening cans. We should try and conserve electricity by turning off the lights, TV, or other electrical appliances when not in use. Use cold water in the washer whenever possible.

What we can recycle let us do so. What we cannot let us not use them. Buy less disposable products. Buy paper products as they break down better in the environment and don't deplete the ozone layer as much. Ban plastic. Buy recycled goods. It’s trendy! Re-use brown paper bags to line your trash can instead of plastic bags. Store food in re-usable containers, instead of plastic wrap or aluminum foil.

Yes, there is really wrong something around us. But we can all prevent that, the issues, the problems, the damages, by means of loving and caring for the earth and for our environment also. We all know the positive an neagative effects of being in this world, so that. We have to protect our HOME.

Choose Renewable Energy Renewable energy is considered to be clean sources of energy that produces little or no waste products such as carbon dioxide, or other chemical pollutants which minimize the impact on the environment. This helps in reducing global warming. Another main advantage, it is renewable and will never run out. It requires less maintenance which is sustainable, based on current and future economic and social needs.

Use Paper WiselyUse Paper Wisely Destroying a paper costs a tree. Reducing the unwanted usage of papers will save the natural resources and prevent the planet from being polluted. So use natural resources wisely and not wastefully. As a student respect the environment from the little things like the candy plastic i will put in my pocket and i will plant trees for our new born babies.

They can be great eco-warriors that can prevent the Earth from further damage. Unfortunately, students can somehow be childish, selfish, lazy, and irresponsible too. There are many things you can recycle. Papers, batteries, glass, aluminum, metals, bottled water and more. Recycling these products can help eliminate almost 50% of wastes produced by people around the world. Joining an environmental group is a step that proves how serious you are to help. As students, you can do so many things to help protect the environment. Even with little things such as these, you can create huge ripples of changes to save Mother Earth.

As a student, and as a human being, we should be concerned and interact with our environment. We should be optimistic that if together, we help each other save the nature, it can STILL be the planet we know way, way back then. It may not be pure because of the pollutions, and any activities that happenned in the past but at least, we may still save it. We, as a human should be disciplined, cooperative and aware. Reuse, mreduce recycle, throwing garbages in its proper places, stop illegal logging, are some of the simple things that if people stop doing, there will be a lot difference that what it is now.

Pollution is the main source of our nature's problem. And I believe that these mental traps are these different things that causes pollution to our world. We always remind others about their careless attitude that causes pollution. But still others are really hard headed. They still kept on throwing garbage along the riverside, others kept on logging the trees, others continue killing the fish thru dynamites, or others continue polluting the air thru smoke belching. But I just wonder when will they stop doing this unjustice acts? Will they just do it again and again until our planet will die? But I think our chances lies on the hands of our 21st century teachers. And as a future 21st century teacher, I must open the minds of my pupils to the truth that humans are killing our planet. We can also use our technology to open the eyes of these people. We are the only hope of ou nature. Why wait? If you can do it now.

These Mental Traps Which Lead Everyone to Saving Mother Earth is they are lack of knowledge how important it is and lack of concern to it.Saving mother earth requires the collective participation of citizens worldwide who are committed to making a long-term difference. Taking care of Mother Earth demands that each person be mindful of how their lifestyle affects the environment. Practicing water conservation and eliminating environmental pollution is important to preserve the Earth's natural materials. Recycling paper, plastics, metals and other products lowers the production of waste. Using solar energy is better than burning precious fossil fuels. We need to protect our mother earth even in a simple things we can.

Our atmosphere is weakening and we have to do something. We should start to make a change. Yes, a change has to be made and we all need to do it together. There are many ways that environment can be conserved and most of them simply require a small acts.

Climate change is the biggest problem of the human being. In contemporary society, the climate change is one of the most important issues that have impacts in many aspects in human’s daily life. Now a days climate change can be showed in three ways, global warming, acid deposition and ozone depletion. These can be caused by both natural causes and human causes and can have economic, social and environmental effects. The causes of climate change are from two major aspects. Firstly, natural causes which include ocean circulation, continental drift, volcanic eruptions solar variations and etc can cause the climate change. The other cause is due to the human activities which include green house gas, land use changes, deforestation, the burning of fossil fuels to driving cars and throwing away perfectly usable materials. We need to face this problem because we’re also the main cause of this. We need to think solution and do something to save the mother earth because we are also the first beneficiaries of this. As a student, if we continue the bad habits that were doing like throwing of garbage everywhere, cutting of trees and using toxic gases like in air fresheners, it is not impossible that the next generation won't be able to witness the true beauty of our Mother Earth. But it's not yet the end. We should not be discouraged, if we're just going to be freed from those metal traps that prohibits us from taking good care of our environment, surely there will be a bright and better future our grandsons and granddaughters in the near future.

Our environment is slowly changing everyday. We must not be pessimists and think that everything is hopeless and we can never fix the environment or rely on technology to clean ad save the environment. We must take part on saving the environment. We must rely on ourselves to save the environment. Taking care of the environment should start with us, within ourselves. Everything we do may affect the environment. Even the littlest things we do like throw a simple candy wrapper on the streets may affect the environment. How? This may pile up and clog the drainages on the streets. Every single one of us are responsible for the wreckage or the salvation of our environment. It is time for us to help save the environment and help spread the awareness to other people on how we all could save our environment.

MARYROSE CRUZ BSBA 1-1 Students are young, creative, energetic and outspoken that is why they have the perfect qualities to help save mother earth. They can be great eco-warriors that can prevent the Earth from further damage. Unfortunately, students can somehow be childish, selfish, lazy, and irresponsible too. If only they are aware of how huge their contributions can be to minimize global warming, pollution and other threats against the environment, the world would probably a healthier place to live at. Actually, with simple things, students can create huge ripples of changes. Here are 20 of many ways students can help protect the world from ecological doom: 1. Prefer Green Products- Technology today is becoming aware of their impact to the environment. That is why they are starting to release eco-friendly products for their consumers. Students should check out these gadgets and products, which reduces energy waste and minimizes climate-warming pollution.

      2. Study About Environmental Threats- To pro-actively help, students have to fully understand their roles in making a sustainable world. They have to be read news, watch documentaries, and learn breakthroughs. They have to keep themselves updated so that they can make long term actions to help.

      3. Volunteer on Environmental Groups- Joining an environmental group is a step that proves how serious you are to help. Joining one needs you to sacrifice a lot of time, but with your classes and writing projects, it would be difficult. You may opt to join college environmental groups, which is less demanding but equally helpful in promoting environmental awareness.

      4. Donate What You Can- Donating is not limited to monetary help. You may also donate your time in joining a tree planting campaign or clean up drives around your campus. But if you have extra cash, a few pennies can go a long way.

      5. Join Environmental Rallies- You can also encourage other people to join your cause. Rallying is an easy way to voice out your opinion. Secure a permit from your university and organize simple rallies or gatherings to create awareness. Use your creativity in constructing effigies, placards and banners to attract attention.

      6. Follow Environmental Leaders- Students are active online. Be informed with the latest news about the environment, by following eco leaders in social media. Know about them and how they help save the environment.

      7. Create a Blog- If you have an opinion you want to voice out, you may want to start your own blog. Since you have been writing since you were in primary school, writing blogs won't be difficult for you anymore. Be opinionated and criticize how your school or community helps in building a sustainable world.

      8. Segregate Wastes Properly- This is basic, yet many students fail to throw their garbage properly. Students should segregate biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and recyclable wastes.

      9. Start a Garden- Staying in a dormitory is not an excuse to discover your green thumb. You can easily start with simple potted plants like basil, mint, dill, and salad greens. They don't only give off cleaner air; these plants are healthy food options as well.

      10. Go to Sleep Early- While many students choose to stay late at night to catch up with their essay writing projects, doing so however is not helpful to the environment. Staying late means longer use of energy- from light, laptop, air conditioner, and more. Maximize your time and avoid procrastination to avoid staying so late. Creating a schedule of everything you need to do, can help you save energy.

      11. Hang Clothes Dry- After washing your clothes, it is best that you simply hang them dry. It saves energy and at the same time keeps your clothes maintain its color and fit. Air drying also helps make your favorite shirts last longer without spending so much money.

      12. Use Both Sides of Paper- Save papers. You know they are made from chopped trees, right? Avoid writing too big on papers, and use both sides to save them. Remember to recycle papers, as well.

      13. Minimize Paper Use- If you can submit your essays through email, then do so. Saving paper helps keep more trees on scarce forests around the world. Trees produce oxygen, which helps minimize global warming.

      14. Take Shorter Shower- Resources should always be saved. That is why, if possible, shorten your time in the shower. Two minutes off of your shower time helps you save 2 gallons of water. Besides, taking too long in the shower will only make you late for school.

      15. Brush Without Running Water- Save water. Closing the faucet when brushing your teeth can actually save 5 gallons per day. Just use a mug of water to gargle after brushing.

      16. Walk or Ride a Bicycle- Walking and taking a bike is not only a healthy transportation option, but also helps minimize carbon footprints- no toxic gas nor wasted energy.

      17. Buy Second-hand Items- Buying used items does not always mean second-best. Stores that sell used merchandise also sell quality products. You just have to be clever in choosing which items to buy.

      18. Make Recycling a Habit- There are many things you can recycle. Papers, batteries, glass, aluminum, metals, bottled water and more. Recycling these products can help eliminate almost 50% of wastes produced by people around the world.

      19. Share Awareness Online- Aside from blogging, you can also share videos, photos, infographics and other contents that can spread awareness to people. There are millions of social media users and they can be easily reached by making viral contents.

As students, you can do so many things to help protect the environment. Even with little things such as these, you can create huge ripples of changes to save Mother Earth.

Now what are these mental traps all about?

      1. Gloom-and-doom pessimism which is on the idea that “Everything is hopeless.”

      2. Blind technological optimism is all about the idea that “Science and techno fixes will save us”

      3. Fatalism believes that “We have no control over our actions and the future.”

States and tried to recount his recent experience of the concentration camp: no one would believe him, and attempts were even made to use psychiatry to diagnose him as having psychopathological problems, so that such an unbearable reality could more successfully be denied.

We shall not enter here into the details of the political reasons that may have supported the adoption of such a position by the people he spoke to. In any case, these psychic and political reasons are to be found in all situations of social violence and trigger off mental mechanisms such as denial and alienation.

Nevertheless, those who say they have not experienced such extreme suffering could find ways to encounter similar phenomena in their own socio-cultural context. Such phenomena exist in a more or less visible form in all societies, although one must make a considerable effort to recognize the unconscious effects that they produce and to feel affected by them. However, it often seems to people who have lived through such suffering that it can only be understood by others who have also experienced it. We therefore encounter a double difficulty here.

Social violence and its mental representation will be the point of departure for our thinking in the present work, particularly in relation to state terrorism in a Latin American country. Although we concentrate on our own experience, it is easy to see that the social violence that exists throughout the world has points in common with that of Argentina.

When trying to understand the psychological vicissitudes felt during a social catastrophe, people's first response is to confine the problem to a distant geographical or mental region, which may or may not be of concern in the final analysis. The mechanism which consists in trying to get rid of something uncomfortable is inherent to the mental apparatus. Expulsion, projection and self-mutilation are mechanisms recognized by different psychoanalytic theories as primary means used to make possible to bear what would otherwise appear to be an unbearable experience.

Violence perpetrated by the state is the paradigm of social violence, since those who are supposed to protect and enforce the law wield deadly and murderous power. The state also has subtler means of violently imposing its lethal power; these depend on economic policies and international interests. In our case the state used all these methods. We can speak of social violence related to state terrorism, since one aim of the dictatorship was to disband any thinking group of people who might oppose the regime. This is why political leaders were the first to be attacked, then potential leaders, and then anyone at all. Furthermore, the dictatorship actively worked to prevent any political response by implementing an economic policy designed to cause the impoverishment of the greater part of the population. It is well known that people who are starving do not have the capacity to conceive of or organize an opposition movement. It will therefore be necessary to identify certain universal variables in each situation.

The paradoxical task that we have undertaken in the present work is to transmit something whose transmission is difficult and sometimes impossible. We shall try to find the beginnings of a solution to this paradox. For various reasons, psychoanalytic theory does not readily acknowledge the influence of the social context on the mental apparatus and the therapeutic situation, or seek to uncover its mental representation. Several psychoanalysts in Argentina have applied themselves to developing theoretical concepts concerning the psychological effects of the political repression during the dictatorship and are still doing so (Kordon and Edelman, 1983, 1986; and many others). They did not have to wait forty years as was the case with the Nazi phenomenon. We may perhaps have learned from that experience and we owe something to it.

one of us is driven by a strong desire to save the earth..

      The 6 Mental Traps

      1. Assumptions

This is a supposition. You assume something is true based on what you think is true. Without proof. Assumptions can be about others and yourself. For instance; "He treats me this way because ____", "They think I'm like this ____", "I always do this because ____".

Why it ruins your life: You create a lot of unnecessary emotional and mental pain for yourself. Especially if you assume the worst. Assumptions lead you to making false judgement's about others. This can harm and even destroy relationships with the people you care about.

      2. Beliefs

This is believing with conviction that something is true. Even if it may not be. Mental beliefs are very extremist in nature. The mental terminology therefore is very strong, just as beliefs are. For instance; "I will never be able to speak normally", "they always look at me weirdly". Like all mental traps, beliefs are unconsciously held. They can be so deep rooted that they evade the conscious mind. e.g. "Other people are always out to get me", "I'm really ugly".

      Sponsored Links

Why it ruins your life: Beliefs are very blinding by nature. If they're false they can affect you profoundly, as they're so deeply held. Beliefs have a nasty way of crippling you with fear if you have enough conviction. Your life, therefore, may be very limited and restricted resulting in a sad, half-lived existence.

      3. Comparisons

This can be between you and others, e.g. "he's way smarter than me". Comparisons can also be between ourselves and our ideals of what should be, e.g. "I should be size ____ just like____". Dissatisfaction is what drives comparison. We want to be better, more perfect, ideal and excel others. Comparison also drives competition. We use other people and our ideals as a yardstick of success.

Why it ruins your life: Making comparisons breeds a lot of jealousy and envy. It also results in anger, pain and frustration. This puts a strain on relationships with others, and frequently destroys friendships.

      4. Desires

To desire is to want something you don't have. We do this because we're discontent, feeling as though we're lacking. We don't have enough. We are not enough. e.g. "I want to be this way ____ but I can't", "I want this quality in her, but I don't have it". Desires are closely linked to comparisons. We compare ourselves and the result is a desire for something bigger and better.

Why it ruins your life: The basic principle of Buddhist thought is that desire equals pain. Often, desire results in lust, and lust results in idolization and obsession. The result is often pain. Think about the crimes in the world - thefts, murders, rapes, adulteries. These all result from desire. When we desire what we can't have, the result is pain.

      5. Expectations

To expect is to have the preconceived idea that something should happen or will happen. Expectations are usually created by rigid minds with mental structures that when challenged, crumble, putting the mind in turmoil. e.g. You unconsciously think "he'll treat me politely". But this doesn't happen. Instantly you are let down by your expectation. Expectations stem from misguided certainty, and these are symptoms of security seeking behavior. You can also create expectations for yourself, e.g. unconsciously you think "I will blush and start to stutter", and immediately... you do!

Why it ruins your life: Expecting certain behaviors from other people usually results in disappointment, confusion, frustration and anger. This can cause strain on relationships. On the other hand, expecting things from yourself can create many issues. Your expectations become self-fulfilling prophecies. They manipulate the outcome of a situation by predetermining whether it will be good or bad. e.g. If you expect to be tired, 99.9% of the time you will be. This can have an immensely negative impact on your life when your mind is already biased against you, or something else.

      6. Ideals

This is the perfect outcome, object, situation or person generated by the mind. For instance; "I must become like this ____", "to be smart I must have the IQ of 165". Ideals are a symptom of perfectionism. Furthermore, they are usually set up as unrealistic goals, which are almost always impossible to live up to.

Why it ruins your life: Because ideals are hard to achieve, mental and emotional frustration frequently occurs. Ideals cause you to live under immense pressure, creating a lot of anxiety. When disparity is seen between the ideal and reality, dissatisfaction and pain almost always result. The perfectionist-idealist is often a hard person to please, and an even harder person to live with. Ideals therefore negatively impact relationships.

Assumptions, Beliefs, Comparisons, Desires, Expectations and Ideals will ruin your life if they go unchallenged. Many of them paralyzed me for a long time until I started to slowly remove them through the process of Involution, an inner evolution of the mind.

      ***

Assumptions, Beliefs, Comparisons, Desires, Expectations and Ideals will ruin your life if they go unchallenged. Many of them paralyzed me for a long time until I started to slowly remove them through the process of Involution, an inner evolution of the mind.

What Are These Mental Traps Which Lead Everyone To Denial, Indifference and Inaction in Saving Mother Earth?

answer:There are some experiences which cannot be avoided. They can be considered as universal, although they have a particular meaning for each individual. But there are others which we tend not to want to think about or which, if we are forced to live through them, we try to ignore, resorting to denial and to various defence mechanisms.

Let us remember what happened when Bettelheim arrived in the United States and tried to recount his recent experience of the concentration camp: no one would believe him, and attempts were even made to use psychiatry to diagnose him as having psychopathological problems, so that such an unbearable reality could more successfully be denied.

Global climate change will affect people and the environment in many ways. Some of these impacts, like stronger hurricanes and severe heat waves, could be life threatening. Others, like spreading weeds, will be less serious. And some effects, like longer growing seasons for crops, might even be good!

The Good Mother Earth Repeatedly in history, conceptions of nature have served as ideological justifications for political theory. The most obvious example is the Hobbesian state of nature against which even the most oppressive government appears perfectly legitimate. Whereas in most cases of political theory, nature looks like an incompetent savage or unreliable tramp, some anarchist lines of argument instead offer versions of nature as infinite, loving, or otherwise better than the artifices to which it is implicitly opposed

Saving mother earth is on our hands. Well, though we can deny it we are responsible for it. I also believe we must take powerful steps to alleviate hunger and power. I think one of the things we need to do now to alleviate hunger is to encourage people to start growing their own food through home gardening and also encourage community. Act seriously if possible and don't just say- "We will save mother earth." but even you is not acting and working as a human being.
