Organic Facial Products- Are They Worth the Money

Updated on September 14, 2015

Natural is better

It is a myth that organic facial products are more expensive.Certain products cost a little more but it is worth it in the long run not to be putting chemicals on your face.Organic skincare products are great for the face and body. Beauty comes from within and what you put on your skin gets absorbed into it. Not only into the skin but the bloodstream as well. Read the ingredients list on the back of your favorite brand of hand lotion, you will be surprised. You find a list of additives that cannot even be pronounced and have no idea what they are. Is this something you want to put on your delicate facial skin? Definitely not!

Why Buy Organic Skincare Products?

Organic skincare products are healthy and do not pollute the environment. The products are made with biodegradable packaging and will not harm children or animals. These products are not tested on animals and comply with FDA regulations for quality. Many of the products we use on our skin can make red patches, burns, blisters and clogged pores. Many companies are realizing the effect that chemicals have on our skin and have been making changes in their formulations to be gentler and more natural. In the 50's when makeup companies like Max Factor and Maybelline were just getting started, lipsticks and similar products were made from chicken fat and other animal by-products which had a negative impact on the skin in the form of allergic reactions.

As we get wiser to the effect of chemicals in our environment, the more we come to understand that if we do not preserve what we have, over time we will lose it. If we do not treat our skin properly we begin to see the early signs of pre-mature aging, lines, wrinkles, dull skin, flakiness, dryness and acne.

Organic Beauty is Natural

Organic products are completely natural and have no harmful chemicals like pesticides and petroleum products. These ingredients hurt our bodies and the environment over time. They are unhealthy and things like stuff used to make antifreeze should not be in our face creams. Facial creams and cosmetic products should contain organic ingredients that make the skin healthier and help it look its best. Natural beauty products are kind to the skin and do not put harmful chemicals in the environment. Using natural products is not only beneficial to our health but helps the environment at the same time. It's a good start to going green.

Organic Skin Care - natural ingredients for healthy skin....

When looking for natural products, citrus is often used in facial toners and exfoliants because the acidic nature of citrus is good for removing dead skin and stimulating the blood flow to the skin surface. Chamomile, vanilla and honey are skin soothers and help to repair sun damaged skin. Here are a few products for moisturizing and cleansing that contain natural ingredients and will not break the bank.

Benefits of Using Organic Products

Using natural beauty products will not expose the body to harmful toxins that are absorbed through the skin and may cause cancer over prolonged use. Natural products are known to be safe and gentle and will not burn, sting or cause irritation to the skin. The skin on the face is very delicate so why would anyone want to use something abrasive and irritating to the skin for the sake of beauty?

Organic products are made from natural ingredients like fruit, honey, milk, herbs and oils that nourish the skin and keep it healthy and vibrant. Things that come from the earth are naturally biodegradeable and cause no negative effects on the environment. They are also safe to have around pets and young children, no danger of toxicity or accidental poisoning. This is also true for natural cleaners and ones you make at home.

The Issue of Expense is Not Really the Point

People argue that it is too expensive to buy organic beauty products. But those same people will pay for high end cosmetics and anti-aging creams that have price tags well into the hundreds.

Some toxic ingredients commonly found in beauty and personal care products:

Commercial hair dye: Coal Tar, Ammonia, Hydrogen Peroxide, Resorcinal and PPD's.

Ammonia causes asthma and respiratory infections, Resorcinal irritates the eyes and skin, and Hydrogen Peroxide has a toxic effect on the nervous system.

Ingredients in hand cream: Stearic Acid, TEA, Dimethicone, Cetyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Methyl Paraben and Tocopheryl Acetate.

Natural beauty products do not have to be expensive, you can make many of the products you need at home.

Natural Skin Care Suggestions

Coconut oil and argan oil are two products that keep the skin and hair healthy.Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer for the scalp and hair, keeping it soft and moisturized.

And the Answer is .......

Many commercially made products contain mostly chemicals. So when addressing the question "is buying organic facial products worth the money?" the answer is yes! It is definitely worth the extra expense to buy products that do not pollute our bodies with toxins and cause cancer. Who wouldn't rather shell out a few dollars more to buy something pure and natural than something full of toxic waste?

  4. Add essential oils and stir again to ensure the mix. To use, wet face and scoop mixture into palms. Apply to face and neck gentle, circular motions to clean the skin. Rinse well and follow with toner and moisturizer.
  5. Store it in a tightly closed container in the refrigerator for as long as you would safely store fresh cream in the refrigerator. Check the "use by" date on the cream carton for an idea of how long the product should remain fresh in the refrigerator.
