St. Michael the Archangel

Updated on January 28, 2018

Warrior, Priest, Protector, Healer, and Guardian

Saint Michael whose name means 'who is like God' or 'who is God' is mentioned by name in both the Old and New Testaments.  According to ancient beliefs, Satan trembles at the mere mention of his name and all the angels in heaven bow down before him in obedience.

St. Michael inspires

devotion to God.  Michael is considered the greatest of the archangels. He is the chief protector and warrior, often depicted in classical art in full armor holding a sword and the scales of justice.  He is known as the angel of protection, mercy, repentance

St. Michael's Protective Powers

The principle of the angelic warrior Michael, carrying the sword of righteousness and slaying the dragon can be likened to the destruction of our own inner "demons."

Saint Michael can also be called upon for emotional and psychological protection to help us in times of conflict with others. It is archangel Michael to call upon to protect one against psychological attack.

Michael is also known to provide physical protection when you are traveling. Many people wear a St. Michael medallion around their neck or use a St. Michael key chain for the purpose of safe travel. Simply by asking, "Archangel Michael, protect me." At the same time, imagine a blue light of protection surrounding you, your companions and your vehicle or mode of transportation.

" . . . and, do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, cast into hell, satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls."

I've learned this prayer: "St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.."
