Wise Women of the World

Updated on October 30, 2012

The Power of Wise Women

Wise Women know they are the power in their lives and that they have the ability to achieve any goal they desire.

Wise Women deserve respect and attention for who they are and who they inspire others to be.

" I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass." - Maya Angelou

Phenomenal Woman - by Maya Angelou

By Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.

I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size

But when I start to tell them,

They think I'm telling lies.

I say,

It's in the reach of my arms

The span of my hips,

The stride of my step,

The curl of my lips.

I'm a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That's me.

I walk into a room

Just as cool as you please,

And to a man,

The fellows stand or

Fall down on their knees.

Then they swarm around me,

A hive of honey bees.

I say,

It's the fire in my eyes,

And the flash of my teeth,

The swing in my waist,

And the joy in my feet.

I'm a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That's me.

Men themselves have wondered

What they see in me.

They try so much

But they can't touch

My inner mystery.

When I try to show them

They say they still can't see.

I say,

It's in the arch of my back,

The sun of my smile,

The ride of my breasts,

The grace of my style.

I'm a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That's me.

Now you understand

Just why my head's not bowed.

I don't shout or jump about

Or have to talk real loud.

When you see me passing

It ought to make you proud.

I say,

It's in the click of my heels,

The bend of my hair,

the palm of my hand,

The need of my care,

'Cause I'm a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That's me.

Wise Women: A Celebration of Their Insights, Courage, and Beauty

In ancient times, older women were the keepers of primal mysteries and were revered for their special wisdom. The 80 portraits are of women from all walks of life, from the famous, Sandra Day O'Connor, Julie Harris, and Angela Lansbury, to the ordinary, such as our own mothers and grandmothers.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

My grandmother who alway had my back no matter what, Rosa Parks because she "just trying to get home from work", India Arie because her music lifts me up.

Nicely done and blessed by an Angel today!

I have a rather eclectic list. Queen Elizabeth, for her unfailing devotion to duty and grace under pressure, Madonna for her ability to think outside the box and reinvent herself, Dian Fossey for her courageous work in animal welfare and all the women in my Tai Chi group for their commitment to health and positive energy. Plus all the women mentioned on this page, of course.

I think the woman who inspired me the most was my mum.

No kidding! If anyone had a problem or needed help .. she was the

one ready, and available. Someday, when I'm ready, I'll like to make

      a lens about her.

Ah, the power of women indeed! Do you know they say there are more female lensmasters? My guess would have been Maya Angelou as a very wise woman that has quite a following.
