Ten Different Flowers to Give to your Loved One On Valentines Day

Updated on February 12, 2013

The iconic red rose has always been seen as a symbol of love. Usually, this red rose is presented to the one that you care about the most on Valentine's Day. Due to its tradition and notoriety of being passed along, the bright red rose with thorns will always be seen as an amazing gift to give to someone you care about. Even though there are many different types of roses whether it be size shape or color, this red rose will always be a great choice to pick.

The beautiful Alba is a type of white rose that is pictured above. Instead of giving your loved on the common red rose, you can try to give them this simple yet elegant white rose. It is beautiful in shape, size, and color. Even though it is not the rose that is known as the flower of love, it is still a rose nonetheless.

Tulips are beautiful plants with bulbous shaped flowers. They come in different sizes and colors whether short or long or pink or yellow. The different species of the tulips can be found all over the world. Presenting this gift to someone can be seen as a gesture of friendship of something more.

The picture above is of a very colorful and beautiful orchid. Orchids are wonderful flowering plants that come in many bright colors and have amazing smells. These plants are mainly found growing in the tropics. This would be a beautiful gift to give to someone you love.

Daisies are beautiful flowers that are shaped outward in a half ovalish form. The most known daisy is white and grow nice and tall. Daisies can be grown in thousands of different species in many different regions in the world. They can bring joy and happiness to your Valentine; potentially brightening up their day.

Lilies are large fascinating flowers that grow from a bulb. These flowers are well known throughout the world and grow specifically in the norther hemisphere. A great gift to give on Valentines Day or any day that you would like.

The Tiger Lily is one of the many species of the Lilies. It is a unique and pretty flower in its own way. The flower starts off in the shape of a bulb and grows outward as time goes on. Some people think that the spots on the flower are the reason why this flower is called the Tiger Lily, while others believe that the name comes from where the flower is grown in Florida. A present you can give to someone to surprise them and give them something that is different.

The picture above is of a unique yellow and pink carnation. These flowers are found in the Mediterranean region and the species alone can range greatly. I highly suggest this flower due to its uniqueness and quality.

The beautiful Lris flower is known for its drooping petals and blue/purple color. It is a flower you may have never heard of or seen before, making it perfect for your Valentine. On the other hand, it may not be so perfect due to the drooping petals and bluish color being mistakenly perceived as being a symbol of sadness.. Choosing this flower is all up to you in the end.

The picture above is of a flower known as the Blue Flower. This flower is called the blue flower because of its shape. This flower can be found in a few select regions in the world. This would be unique due to the two different colors that are present in the flower and the black stripes. I also highly suggest this flower as being given to your Valentine.

In conclusion, I believe that the choice of the correct flower to choose is all up to your Valentine and the type of flower that you know that they will prefer. You should try to give them a flower that of course is a color that they love and not of a color that they hate. The size of the flower depends on if they prefer simple things or if your Valentine is larger than life. The amount of flowers that you give your Valentine also depends on whether or not if they would like to be surprised with a lot of flowers or just one simple flower. I hope this helps many in choosing the right flower for your special someone.

Torrilynn, you've presented some unique and beautiful choices for giving on Valentine's Day. These pictures are amazing in their variety and shapes of the flowers. Of course, the red rose is traditional for a loved one's bouquet. The others are also lovely and send a message of special interest when given on this day in particular. Happy Valentine's Day and may you receive the flowers of your preference.

Great choices - maybe you should change the title of this hub and add ...'On Valentine's Day' at the end? It would be well timed (then you can change it back on Friday).
