4 Reasons Why Dating an Older Man Is Not Wise

Updated on August 14, 2017

I grew up in a small town called Whitesburg, Georgia. As a poor Woodard girl, I had to make my own living and opportunities.

Prejudice and Gossip From Other People

If you get involved in a relationship of any kind, with an older man, you will probably have to cope with discrimination from other people. You may even have to deal with your logical and accustomed prejudices and misgivings.

  • Narrow-minded individuals will be inclined to think that you are an individual who cultivates a personal relationship with older men to accomplish wealth; most especially when your life style shows prosperity.
  • If the man, who marries a younger woman is submissive, then the woman is considered a cuckold dress. These women are high-tech and get most of the awkward looks and stares.
  • Some people will assume that your older man is some sick pervert for dating a woman so much younger than he is. After all, it is a fact that boys will be boys, some older ones, do chase younger women. It is a way of making themselves, feels younger and to stroke their ego.
  • After he marries you, some people will judge him as he flaunts you around.

These couples will not admit it, but they are dependant on each other.

You Will Have Different Energy Levels - A Biological Fact

Your older man will probably have more physical flaws than you think he does. For instance, his bottom will not be as firm, and he might have a bit of a potbelly. Not to mention his salt & pepper hair or even gray hair; along with his wrinkles, could be a problem.

Older people will eventually become feeble. If you date and then marry an older man, you are going to have to deal with that fact.

Marrying an older man may mean that you eventually have to take care of him. It also means that he will probably die long before you do.

Thinking about confinement, vulnerability, and death may be disturbing, but there are questions you must ask yourself before involving yourself with a man who is significantly older than you.

If the answers to your questions are likely to turn you off, then you have no business being with a man who is significantly older than you.

I tell you, if I'm going to go through a divorce, I will date a younger man again. I have so much energy, and there's no way an older man can keep up with me.

— Ivana Trump

Your Older Man has Been There and Done That

The older man, being set in his ways, thinks he knows it all. How can you, the younger woman be happy? You may feel you have to fit into his world since he’s older, wiser and set in his ways. After all, he isn't willing to change.

There is a big part of your older man's life you have missed. One thing that comes with your older man is baggage. He will tell you story after story about his adventures, good or bad times. You may get tired of hearing about his past. You will want him to make new memories with you.

The older man isn’t likely to be interested in going out and doing the things you like to do. He may have a biased point of view. He may not want to pursue things that younger men like to do because he’s already been there and done that.

On the flip side; he could be going through his midlife crisis acting like a younger man. However, you are rapidly growing and changing. You’re coming into your own and finding your place in the world. But what will happen when the ball drops? Will you be able to deal with the change in his behavior; when he becomes his age, in mind, body, and soul? Will he be able to adapt to your changes?

Your Older Man will Shower You With Treasures - But will He Treasure You?

Food for thought - The inside scoop to being a trophy girlfriend or wife.

Saying that age doesn’t matter is ludicrous. Of course, it matters, or it wouldn’t be such a big deal. The realization that you have essentially become a prostitute won’t sit well with you.

  • He is no different than younger men when it comes to using women as sex objects.
  • He manipulates you.
  • He is prone to jealousy or possessiveness.
  • You sacrifice your own goals.
  • You live in a beautiful home, drive a nice car and using a credit card that is all in his name.

If that’s what you are looking for, then go for it and have a blast.

What older men and younger women have in common is they are both suffering from different insecurities. She is looking for someone to make her feel safe, and he is looking for someone who doesn't answer back and is a trophy.

Testimonials from Women who Dated Older Men

"At first, there was no issue. We began dating when I was on winter break during my freshman year in college. Because we worked together, we were able to spend time together, and I would come home from school on the weekends. Once we were a more formal couple things became much harder. None of my friends at school understood the relationship, and they had no interest in hanging out with him when he would come visit me at school. Additionally, the friends that he had that were his age were incredibly judgmental of my age and the relationship. As a 30-year-old woman, I understand their hesitations now. As an 18-year-old, I thought they were close-minded". anonymous

"I'm now married to a man who is five years older than me, so I suppose patterns would say I'm attracted to men older than me. However, after the relationship with the significantly older man ended I vowed, to only date close to my age again. I think that there is some truth to the "age is just a number" mentality, but having the experience I did, I don't buy it completely." anonymous
