5 Unusual Outside the Box Wedding Band and Engagement Ring Ideas

Updated on March 26, 2012

Over the past few years the wedding scene has slowly been changing. People are starting to think outside of the box for so many of their wedding ideas. Traditional flower bouquets are now sometimes swapped for a more permanent vintage button bouquet. Classic ballrooms are now taking a backseat to beautiful homey outdoor weddings. And the rings...well look at what options people are turning to in the effort to keep their nuptials unique and special.

Tattoo Wedding Rings!

Coming from someone who has personally lost her wedding band, and has almost lost her wedding and engagement rings dozens of times, this wedding ring alternative seems somewhat appealing to me! What a great way to ensure that you never have to take your ring off again. Now personally, I'm not a huge fan of tattoos, but I do think this couple stumbled on a cute and cheap wedding ring alternative.

A Ring That Leave a Secret Message!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this ring. I've always been a big fan of sweet inscriptions on the inside of the ring, but with this jeweller you can get a ring that actually inscribes your loved one! I love the heart impression that this ring leaves behind, but Yoon Jung Yun will inscribe sweet sayings too. To me, this is one of the best rings out there. So simple on the outside, so special on the inside. Price: Silver $120 and Gold $780

Inverted Diamond Ring!

This ring floored me. If the oxidized silver band hadn't screamed uniqueness, the INVERTED diamond sure does! This engagement ring isn't for just every gal, but it's perfect for the girl who wants a diamond ring that doesn't look like everyone other girls. I actually quite like the idea of having such an "opposites" ring. Black instead of silver, upside down rock instead of right side up. Such an interesting piece of jewelry and a steal for only $360!

Fingerprint Ring

The Full Fingerprint Ring

I've already expressed my love for the fingerprint ring in one of my previous articles, but I seriously can't get enough of them! This ring is a slight variation of the majority that I've seen. Instead of just the fingerprint on top of the band, this etsy seller uses your entire finger's print to wrap around the band. What a neato idea! Add the use of both sterling silver and gold and you have a really out-of-the-box wedding ring! Price: $995

Black Pearl Wedding Ring

I like this beautiful black pearl ring for several reasons. To me it's a great mix of both unusual and traditional. You get the beautiful traditional white-gold band, with the twist of having a black Tahitian pearl for the gem! I think I actually prefer this to most diamond engagement rings I see these days. A very sophisticated ring and yet definitely not what most people are using these days.

Did You Find Your Unusual Engagement or Wedding Ring?

I love that people are thinking out-of-the-box for wedding ideas these days. I definitely makes that special day more special and as unique as the couple themselves. Feel free to ask any questions or leave comments.

Wow, I loved this hub. Oh how I wished I had read it before getting my wedding ring. I would have definitely opted for the secret message band. Fabulous!

I agree to not being into tattoos. I would never have one of my own. But I do love how people come up with such nifty ideas! And I was swept away by the black pearl ring too!

I am not into tattoo's and do not like the inverted diamonds but the rest were cool. I especially liked the black pearls.
