A Far too Early Frost.

If love could be seen it would be easy to know if someone loved you or not simply by the color. Imagine the many rainbow colors of true love

There is no perfect marriage, two must learn to love even the imperfections

Love should never be served lukewarm or cold

Early Frost.

They'd always thought with loving pride

that they'd both grow old together

till they both at last grew cold together...

and were buried side by side.

But oh, that cold it crept in early
so insidiously between

the cracks of every happy smile

and through the lengths of all their dreams.

Chorus-

Early frost can kill what flowers,

bending limbs in crippled grief,

settling in those lonely hours,

chilling hearts in misbelief..

love can only thrive when nourished,

and protected from the cold,

that cruelly shrivels all that flourished,

until there's nothing left to Hold.

Those Heated glances, tender yearnings

becoming chilling glares and sighs

all words of passion spurned....returning

via their monotone replies.

Her tempting bedroom eyes once savored

Now haunt the kitchen....watching hands

Just banging dishes...sad behaviors,

with angry fingers slamming pans...

Placebo couples who now face

the tastes of love's leftovers stewed

leaving both hungry, needing more...

a sweeter sampling.... something new.

Chorus-

Early frosts can kill what flowers,

bending limbs in crippled grief,

settling in those lonely hours,

chilling hearts in misbelief..

love can only thrive when nourished,

and protected from the cold,

that cruelly shrivels all that's flourished,

until there's nothing left to hold.

Yet too damned tired to escape

old mem-mor-ies like cobwebs cling

in recessed corners of their minds,

back when their love was everything.

and... So they both embrace the weight

of lost loves beyond repair,

until perhaps they'll each grow old,

alone...and sad ...apart...somewhere

Suckling on tidbits of the past

something "old, sorrowed and blue,"

but such a larger part of them

forever remains tethered to....

The years of warmth..the sated bliss

love's fading Summer's reminisced,

before the bitter frost took hold

and froze the kisses they both miss.
