A Heart's Day Surprise
Picturing the February 14th of the year 2007 in my mind makes me smile all over again. It was such a nice and beautiful day – blue skies, birds chirping and the fragrance of different flowers filled the air. It’s Valentine’s Day once again.
But this is not just another Valentine’s Day of my life.
This is the first Valentines’ we will be celebrating together.
Couple of weeks before, I kept thinking how to make this day very special to us, that for as long as we’re together, we will always remember this heart day. A collection of sweet and fluffy ideas clouded my list of what-to-dos.
But I really can’t find something special to give him.
Time is running out and one day I woke up, the calendar saying its Valentine’s Day, with no surprise treat to the very special person in my life.
For the last minute rush, I bought a bouquet of sweet fresh roses with a sprinkle of small white flowers. It was not much and I felt disappointed I couldn’t give him more than that.
I wrapped it up, cover it lightly making sure the roses will not be crushed.
To give a little bit of surprise attack, I left the “package” on the guard’s area of our school and advised them to give the “package” to him when he passes by.
It was a long wait or is it just my wristwatch stopped? I wanted to see his reaction but I guess I’m just too excited, wishing he will love it.
Honestly, it was the first time I gave someone a bouquet of roses or any kind. When at last, I received a message from him that he got my gift. He said he was very surprised and he loved it so much.
I was so happy; I could never felt happier on that day.
It turns out I was the one who was surprised when later on, he gave me these three red beautiful roses.
And confessing that he was so nervous because it was the very first time he gave someone flowers and it was also the first time he received one.
So he said since this is his first time, he doesn’t know what to do or say.
I love the look on his face, a little blush and his smiles that shyly says “I love you”.
I could feel that he really loves me not because of the three red roses he gave but I can see deep through his eyes that his heart only belongs to me.
As I was going home, I still couldn’t help but smile for the best Valentine’s Day and unexpected things that happened along the way. How lucky I am to have him in my life.
Until now, it was his favourite memory; you mentioned roses and he will go back again to the story of the first bouquet he received on that Valentine’s Day.
I never expected our first Valentine’s Day together will be one of the most treasured memories we will never forget.
As the saying goes, If it’s meant to be, it will always find a way.
I will always love you, my dear.
