A Murder In Our Small Town?

Road Leading To Mass Murder

No Killers Here

This is a wonderful small town with a lot of wonderful people living here. We have several different churches mostly Baptist probably 8 or 9. We have 3 restaurants, 3 gas stations, 1 grocery store and post office, library, and school, and a couple of auto repair shops. We have a large hardware and lumber company. The school is rated one of the top schools in Florida. All the business people and the local people are friendly and seem very honest to do business.I can pretty much buy what I need as long as it is not shoes or music supplies.

The neighbors are friendly and everyone knows each other. Your neighbors will lend a helping hand if you are sick,or need something from the store. Our sheriff's department comes out once in a while. You will hardly ever see a police car driving around town. We have no sheriffs office in town, you have to go to the next town 11 miles away. This town is so friendly that in November the town has a free Thanksgiving dinner for people over 55 to make sure the seniors had a dinner.

The county has just built a new swimming pool, it is beautiful. If you are a senior you can use the pool free.

Now what makes someone kill? You would have to be sick to commit this crime. Could you kill your own child, and how about your granddaughters. I know that no matter how mad I got I could not do it. I suppose we will in the end feel sorry for the victims and the killer.

It is one year since this crime has taken place. We remember this family, and say a prayer for peace and forgiveness. Sept.7,2015.

Who Was Murdered?

The bigger question is not who was murdered but Why? The whole thing makes no sense at all. What could possibly caused these murders. This is a horrific murder that I could not comprehend. The murders took place on September in 2014 on a Thursday. We only live 2 streets down from where it took place. The grandfather 51 killed his daughter, and 6 grandkids, all the way down to the little baby.

I don't pretend to understand any of this crime against the mother and six children. I only know if he wanted to kill his daughter he should of just killed himself first. I believe the baby was 2 or 3 months old. The man had to be very sick, but we all have to be responsible for our actions. There seems to be a lack of conscience and soul in this murder case. Three months latter and the case still screams why. What is the answer we want to hear? Is there any answer to this case or just more questions? Were we not raised or a least believe in the Bible that a child is a precious person? What happened to thou shalt not kill? Evil is everywhere, even in my little town. What ever happened to the soul and to conscience?

I was in town when I heard several ambulances and police cars head the way I go home. With all the ambulances I thought it must be a big accident. I got home and found out from my other neighbor what went on. Shortly after that, I saw a couple of TV crews heading down the road.

Whats Left Now

1. Age 28 Daughter

2 Age 11 Child

3. Age 9 Child

4. Age 8 Child

5. Age 5 Child

6. Age 4 Child

7. Age 2 months

All 6 children and the mother were all found shot in the head. I guess I will never know why. Its been over 3 months and none of my neighbors know why this has happened. I do not think we will ever know the why of this story. They did have a beautiful memorial service for the family. It is one of the saddest stories this town has ever experienced. It was shortly after the murders that the grandfather shot and killed himself.

I know this is a terrible thought, but too bad he just did not kill himself first. Those children had a right to live. This was not his choice. The kids had their whole life ahead, and no one has the right to take that away, let alone a grandfather.

I truly feel bad for the relatives that have lived through this nightmare and will remember it the rest of their life. I will continue to pray for those left and that healing will take place. May these children rest in peace.

In Loving Memory OF Six Lovely Angels

your all in Heaven now,

no pain,fear, or suffering.

You are with your heavenly father,

you are all at home.

Cornelia, Thanks for the comments on this article. He must have been possessed to do all this killing. I know nothing about Bulgaria and communist, but you have peaked my interest. Sounds like a hub to be written.

Terrible accident. We had a similar one in my native town of Sliven, Bulgaria, a long time ago. The grandfather took his gun and killed all the members of his family. When the policemen went in his home, they found him happy and he told them to come and see how successfully he has prostrated his family. :( Well, he was a communist and it is normal for them to commit atrocities. As I can see, there is no sensible explanation for the behavior of the man from your town. Who knows, some people are simply possessed by a legion of evil spirits :(

Nadine, Thanks for the comments on this article. We will never forget this happened in our nice safe town. Yes, in answer to your question there was a grandmother and other family members in the area. I go by this every morning. The place is for sale, I would buy it if I were rich and leave it for a memorial for those poor kids.

What a horrific event. Questions like: where was the father of all these children? Was there ever a grandmother? Did they have other family members who knew them better? Yes the grandfather's mental state was completely shut down when he shot his own family. How was it even possible that he owned a gun? I do not believe in fire arms at all, and this is again proof that guns in the house only brings tragedy.

This is so sad. Everything in your little Florida town, sounds exactly like my little Florida town, except those horrific murders. I sincerely hope I never wake up to news like that here.

It seems like I heard something about this story, but I can't recall. Something in me is glad I can't recall. It's just a senseless crime. So sad!

    Stella,

I think you got it right when you said it was a sick mind. The person definitely was terribly mentally sick and access to gun turned his sickness into an extremely tragic incident.

I feel sad for the innocent lives brutally murdered this way. But I am 100% sure that guns are not a solution. Giving guns in the hands of common citizens is never a good idea.

Guns and ammunition have turned this world into living hell.

Again, I felt saddened by this loss of lives.

KissandTales, yes this is very sad that this happened to such innocent children. Time will help to heal the family. It is so common these days to see kids hurt or killed. There is no soul in these people and no respect for life. I agree with much of what you have said in your comment. I wish it never happened but it did and it is hard for the people left to deal with death. I just read the story about the 11 year old who killed the 2 month old baby. We may have had some of these things happen when we grew up but I don't remember anything in such great numbers of murders.

    Thanks for commenting. Stella

Yes this is a very sad account of life taken, I just read a terrible story of a three year old child beaten by a boyfriend, who also rape this child and put the child in the car he was lifeless when the mother got in the car. So sad how people can take life as it being nothing.

What has helped me to cope with death even if it was a natural death ,is that we all feel so helpless as humans because we can not return what has been taken away, if not taken it just sickness and old age.

But we can be assured just as we existed and came live on this planet earth, with out our own power ,we can return without our own power.

Many lives taken will stand again based on God 's judgment not humans.

This family can return after the earth has been cleansed of wickedness, and the law defying people who hate what is good and what is justice and who loves violence.

Notice what is written, Reference Bible Joh 5:28 Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice

Joh 5:29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

Reference Bible Re 20:12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds.

Notice they are standing ,they have been resurrected ,the small and the great.

All the injustice and wrong done to humans will be undone by the Heavenly Father

That is why when Cain was killed his brother Abel who was favorable in God's eyes will return to the earth as well, it is a set time for many to return ,but the earth has to be cleaned. And homes have to be built, and many good things to come and look forward to We can work on being there to welcome many back ,but we must first have the accurate knowledge and the Chanel approved by the heavenly Father and Jesus to be present for this happy event.

As written few will find the way into the new world . Notice Reference Bible Mt 7:14 whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.

This means there must be effort on our part to make sure we are on the cramp road to this wonderful future.

The road is cramped because it is not a easy road to stay on ,cramped because it is the truth of good morals , loving ones neighbor , and getting to really know the Father as you would those you love in your family.

You see you know more then their name you know how they think and feel .

We are to know our Heavenly Father even greater.

So horrible but the only thing I could find good about the killer is he did kill himself. It shows he did know what he was doing was wrong. It does scare us when these things happen near us and now even in small towns it is happening.

AuFait, Thanks for your comments and stopping by. I will never know the truth on anything, but it is still a shock. You are right this behavior seems to be everywhere. I believe in forgiveness if the person ask for it, I never looked at it the way you just did in your response. You saw him as being remorseful that's why he killed himself. I saw it as maybe taking the easy way out. But you are right either way he had to be suffering. You have to be sick to do this. Its just that some things you can't forget. I pray for rest for all of them.

Yes, I am back to walking it helps with the PD. Have a blessed day.

Clearly the grandfather had psychological problems. Funny how people can understand when an eye, a leg, or kidneys or lungs aren't functioning as they should, but for some reason people have trouble allowing that the brain may not function correctly sometimes.

When a leg isn't working a person may not walk very well, or may not walk at all. When an eye isn't working a person may not see well or at all. When kidneys or lungs don't work, a person usually becomes very ill and may even die. No one has trouble understanding these things.

When the brain isn't working well, that part that rules the body and is the originator of all of a person's thoughts, memories, values, knowledge, etc., everyone says ugly things about the person and makes no allowance whatever for their brain not functioning correctly. They want accountability and they want it NOW! I wonder if their own brain ever causes them to do something terrible how they will feel being held accountable? That's if they are ever clear minded enough again to realize what they've done. It makes as much sense to hold blind people accountable for causing accidents that hurt other people when they had no control over their sight and it failed them.

Everyone needs to realize that anyone's brain, even the most critical among us, can malfunction momentarily or longterm without warning. Just as one should be careful criticizing other parents when their children get into trouble lest the tables be turned, so people should be careful in other contingencies as well. No one is immune to brain diseases.

I'm so sorry this terrible thing happened in your little town and that similar things happen all over the world, sometimes for the same reason, whatever that reason was. It is always sad for everyone when loved ones die senselessly, especially if they are just little children hardly having had a chance to live.

How awful for all the friends and family that such a terrible thing happened, and how awful for grandpa. Clearly he came to his right mind for a time afterward or he wouldn't have killed himself. He did it in acknowledgement of what a horrific thing he had done, and likely too, he couldn't live with himself knowing what a terrible thing he had done. He couldn't even imagine facing everyone. Is there no mercy for a man who comes to his right mind and discovers he has done one of the worst things any person can ever do?

So sad that so many people have been hurt and no one is better off as a result. No one wins in a situation like this. The best thing one can do is be alert to when people they know are going through difficult times. It may not always be obvious. What depresses or discourages one person may seem like nothing to another. Try to be available if they need to talk or need help of some kind. There are no guarantees. One can only do their best and hope it's enough. Sometimes nothing is enough, but a person must try just the same.

I'm truly sorry for you and all who are touched by these deaths. I'm sorry for grandpa too. Perhaps one thing a person can learn from this is that life is fleeting. One never knows how much time they or their loved ones have, so make them count. It could just as well have been an horrific car accident. Entire families die in them more often than you think, so appreciate time spent with those people you care about most while you can.

It is usually desperate people who do desperate things, and then there is the mysterious brain that sometimes malfunctions far beyond forgetting things.

If one wants forgiveness and mercy, one must first give those things. I see so many people who call themselves Christians yet they give no indication beyond that confession that they are truly Christians. Christ forgave his crucifiers and he has forgiven you and me, so who are we to hold anyone else to task? One can lose their forgiveness by being mean spirited and hateful towards others who also need forgiveness. Being forgiven isn't a blank check so that one is now free to sin all they want with immunity.

Something had to be terribly wrong somewhere for grandpa to do such a horrible thing to those people he loved most in the world. May God have mercy on all of their souls.

Stella, I'm so glad you are back walking. It's so important not to lose those abilities even when it is so hard sometimes to make oneself get up and do what needs to be done. I always try to start out slow when I haven't been working out like I should for a long time. Just walking is one of the best things one can do for themselves, but not the whole 20 miles the first day. I'm glad for you that you're able to do it though it's painful right now. It will get better.

I'm glad you wrote this article. It can be very helpful to you and your readers to heal from this or similar incidents just by sharing. Take care . .

Oztinato, You mean he lost his mind. Maybe he was thinking about this for a long time. Layered from reptilian brain, never heard that before. Sounds like science fiction. No, I think he knew what he was doing, when he did it.

  • Oztinato profile image

Something stripped away his mind back to the raw primitive subconscious. It might have been illness such as sudden dementia or a psychotic episode. The brain is layered from reptilian brain covered by mammalian covered by human brain so we can predict what a reptiles brain or a lower mammals might be tempted to do to others.

Oztinato, Wow I'm not sure about all this, but you could be right. I think this guy even though he did not appear to be so, was a simple nut, mentally ill. I think you are correct that we need to study all types of thought and science and continue to seek the truth.

  • Oztinato profile image

in a nutshell Freud believed (as usual!) that unconscious sexual impulses drive many people to "get rid of the competition." Apparently this impulse is a hangover from our animal roots that lasted for over a million years while "we" lifted up our species by its bootstraps. If you think about it many animals (particularly large aggressive males) do just this, kill their own kind. Female leaders also get rid of the competition as well in larger mammals. Scientists say its all about tiny genes doing the work behind the scenes, but spirituality says there are higher forces at work as well in humans.

I am a Theist, but I believe we need to study all types of thought and science to come to a better understanding of the truth.

Oh, how horrible! One never truly knows what is going on in the mind of another, even a family member. The only way one might have prevented such an event would have been to notice any changes in behavior. So terribly sad and no one will ever know. I always pose the same question, why take out the whole family if you are so miserable and going to kill yourself anyway, but don't take the rest of your family with you or anyone else for that matter!

it sounds like a psychotic episode was responsible.

As far as murder in general: as they say "if you see one rat there are probably another dozen you can't see" is applicable to most sleepy little towns or big cities re murder.

I often refer to Freud's books "Totem and Taboo" and "Moses and Monotheism" as they contain classic insights into why (in many cases) people kill.
