A Must Read Love Story

A Gringo who moved to Puerto Rico, Greg loves writing about the island he now resides on. He and Maria also wrote several bilingual books...

"You met him on-line, are you crazy? What if he is a crazy nut who will kill you?"

Maria started the car. The butterfly's in her stomach continued to fly, but she raced to the airport anyway. Even with all they said to her, the only thing that came to mind was:

"Me encanta este príncipe azul"

"You are going to Puerto Rico to meet a woman? She is probably just trying to become an American citizen. What if they rob and kill you?"

Greg checked his bag. His nerves were wound tightly; about to leave for four days, but with thoughts of staying forever all he could think was:

"Me encanta esta bella dama"

The Beginning

Playing on the internet one day, Maria had run across a picture of a frog. It was an avatar of a person who was a writer. He wrote about God and she loved to read about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. She found his writings intriguing. As Maria read, she discovered the person that wrote was a man. A man who had tragedies and was lonely. His writings show his heart. She messaged the man and told of her love for God and Jesus. The man messaged her back and told her he was blessed to have her as a friend. They started sharing web sites about God, love and many more things.

The sharing grew and they talked about many things that have happened in their lives.

They shared and shared and shared.

Greg felt depressed. His loneliness was quite evident. Many people tried to get him to eat more. He was skinny. He slept many hours and for the most part, did not leave his home unless for work or a brief trip to the store.

The message came to his in box. She read his hubs about God and Jesus and told Greg how his writing moved her. Greg went to her pages and after much searching, found a picture of her. She was beautiful in his eyes.

Greg responded, yes it was him and was this her? Her page stated she lived in Puerto Rico; a country Greg knew very little about. He did have an inner feeling that made him feel alive and it was from this woman many miles away.

Common Threads

Maria and Greg started to chat for hours upon hours. They discovered so many similarities that they saw themselves as "twin souls". Both had three grown children and all were practically the same ages. The kicker was: two boys and a baby girl on both sides.

The Father of Maria's children had died tragically in a motorcycle accident. The Mother of Greg's children had died tragically of staph infection from a hospital near St. Louis, Missouri.

Both Greg and Maria were fighters. They had fought political and justice battles through protesting. Both had special talents; Maria a painter and Greg a writer. They both were very spiritual; they love God and Jesus and had no qualms about telling others.

They needed more of each other, so video chat was the next step. They made accounts with Oovoo and spent their free and awake hours talking face-to-face. The link to Oovoo is below.

Love Knows No Bounds

The love grew and grew.

They could not go more than a couple hours without talking to each other. They just had to see each other, hold each other and pray with each other.

Maria is a teacher and school would be starting back soon. She didn't have the means or way to visit Greg.

Greg was working for a temporary service at Nike. He really prayed desperately. He felt an inner voice telling him to go. Just go visit. Greg spoke with a friend who travels regularly for his job and was led to the cheapest ticket web site.

Tickets were booked for Puerto Rico. A four day trip; would that be enough?

As Maria and Greg spoke before the trip, the question was asked if Greg would consider staying. Prayers were sent to God with what seemed no answer. They would wait and see.

Greg prepared his daughter and Grandson, who lived with him on preparations if he did not come back.

The day came and Greg's daughter took him to the St. Louis, Missouri airport. Tears and hugs were given and goodbys said. Into the air Greg flew on the Delta flight first to Atlanta and on to Puerto Rico to meet the woman he had fallen in love with.

The First Sight

As Greg waited for his baggage he looked and looked for Maria. He did not see her. As His bag rolled onto the conveyor, he looked again and his heart leapt. Tears of joy ran down his face and that voice in his stomach said what he was waiting on: "You will stay forever!"

Greg ran with his bag to the waiting area where he had seen her. He glanced her shoes just briefly going behind a column and as he slipped around it he noticed tears in her eyes too. Greg grabbed her and they embraced in a love that seemed to last for hours. They looked in each others eyes and Greg told her, " I will stay".

God Is First

From the beginning Maria and I have put God first. I cancelled my return flight. We have found a church that we attend every Sunday. We twice daily have scripture reading and study and we are seeking where and what God would have us do.

Maggie is a special education teacher and most people know how I feel about children. Is this our ministry, or maybe marriage and romance? God will show us, I know!

Just this past week, Maggie and I said our vows between each other with her son and daughter-in-law filming. On December 28th we will be wed in the Earthly way. We are already wed in God's eyes.

Maria and I, I feel, have the second greatest love story in history. The first being Jesus Christ's love for the human race by being crucified and rising three days later.

Below is the film of Maria and myself giving our vows before God and each other. I will also share some very wonderful pictures that I have taken here.

God has been so great to us! We have both faced many, many trials and tribulations, but God has blessed us with each other. I praise Him daily. Let God's Will be done and may all of you be blessed too!

Greg I read this now and I know we have been blessed!

1 John says: "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love."

Amazing love story... and, as fantastic as it may sound, it's no fairytale! It's all based on true events. Hehehe!!! I'm witness of the long hours Maggie would spend chatting to Greg on her tiny laptop. There was nothing that would make her look away from the screen. The time she spent chatting and writing to Greg was the most important thing for her besides God and her children. Yes, Maria was in love... and so was Greg... to each other. They’re in love now and will be forever. Because they’ve both been through hard times, they both deserve to be happy.

They’ve declared their love unto God, unto themselves and will make us all part of their promise to each other at the end of this year. I love my kid sister… and I know Greg will be an excellent husband to her… and a great brother-in-law also.

God bless their relationship and grant them joy and happiness forever.

That is so awesome Greg, Seeing how much you've been through, how much you have lost. I did my best to encourage and pray, Knowing that God had something out there for you. He is Faithful, and you are truly blessed today. I love seeing God come through for his kids like this. You both look so happy. Kinda brings tears to my eyes all in joy for you both. May God bless you two, more and more each day. Thanks for keeping us all updated my friend.
