Be2 dating scam . Don't join this site

Updated on July 2, 2010

Be2 dating - avoid this site.

Be2 dating is a dating site to be avoided at all costs. The company is fake and fraudulent, and will steal money from your bank account because they don't give you clear information in their terms and conditions. Here's my story.

I know many people who have found their partners through online dating sites. Personally, it's not for me. Having said that, a single female work colleague and I had a discussion at work one day, (me being single also) and pondered over whether we could ever find our ideal guys, given the fact that we were always too tired after work to bother going out to meet someone. When one gets to a certain age, it just seems like too much trouble to go out in the hope of finding a suitable male companion. 'We don't mix in the right circles' we bemoaned. 'Maybe there is something to be said about internet dating. We should give it a go.'

I went home and thought about it. Did I want to spend the rest of my life alone? Wouldn't it be lovely to share a sunset with someone special? I can't say I'm unhappy being single, I've got plenty going on in my life to keep me happy, and I'm certainly not lonely, but I thought it would be nice to meet a like-minded guy, with whom I could share a friendship.

I was on a certain social networking site one day when an ad caught my eye, reading along the lines of 'Find love in your 50s'. I decided to have a look, and to cut a long story short, I ended up signing up to Be2 dating. Initially it was free. I answered a few questions and they gave me a summary of the type of person I was likely to be compatible with, and I could do a search in my area for suitable matches, so I just thought, 'Oh well, go for it and see what happens.'

However.. Be2 wouldn't let me go any further without signing up for a 'Premium' membership, which would cost me £5.00. So I paid the money with my card and began my search for Mr.Right. It didn't take me long to realise that this wasn't for me. I actually made myself laugh. What on Earth was I thinking of? This was no way for me to meet someone, and to be honest I really couldn't be bothered.

Every day when I opened my email inbox there would be mail from Be2, telling me there was 'new matches' for me. In the end I got fed up and went back to the site to cancel my membership. But the link on the site which said 'unsubscribe here' didn't seem to be working. In the end I forgot all about it. The mail stopped coming and that was that. Then four weeks ago - to the day, as I write this - I went to the bank to make a withdrawal, where I was told I had insufficient funds. What? I only checked my account online twenty minutes ago and there was money in there then, The teller went on to tell me that I had used my card at 10.05 (it was now 10.20) and the transaction was for £149.95. I was actually standing in the queue when the money was taken out, I explained to her. How could I have done it? I asked her to tell me who the money had gone to and she couldn't tell me. Cutting the story short again, it turns out that the money had gone to a company in Luxemburg, who after a bit of digging around, I found to be this dating site - Be2.

Luckily for me, my bank's fraud prevention department had picked up on it straight away and sent me a text (while I was still in the bank trying to sort it out) and they blocked the payment. I came straight home and e-mailed Be2 and told them that I had not authorised this payment, and if they tried to take it again I would report them to the authorities, that it was theft and I would take legal action against them

I received a reply telling me that they did not operate under the law of the UK, and that I was bound to the 'terms and conditions' which I should have read before I joined. After a lot of wrangling and exchanging e-mails with this company, they finally gave in. I had told them that I had tried to cancel my membership, but the link was seemingly 'broken' They told me that they had now cancelled my membership but quoted the terms which evidently say that 'after one month - if you don't cancel before that,- you will be billed for a six month's subscription.' However, they don't give you the opportunity to cancel, because the link doesn't work. They work on the assumption that if (like me) you don't manage to do it, you'll forget about it.

I did a bit of digging around on the net and found many women - just like myself - who had been ripped off by Be2. I was one of the lucky ones, I got my money back, but many more didn't and the company are still operating to this day. There will be a big outcry about this company before long and I want to warn everyone not to get involved with them because if you do, you stand to lose a lot of money. I know there are some good sites out there, like match.com and e-harmony, but don't get involved with be2. Check out Be2 scams on google and see for yourself. and one more thing, before you sign up for anything online, ALWAYS thoroughly read the terms and conditions.

As a post script, I would like to add that two months on, this nasty company has once again taken £150 from my account, and this is AFTER my membership has been cancelled. The bank are doing everything they can to recover my money, but I'm not holding out much hope. The only thing I can do is close my account. It's a lesson learned. I will ALWAYS read the terms and conditions in future before I buy anything online.

So many people does not know what to do to easily cancel their account on be2, the site is a very complicated one, that's why people think their money can not be returned,if you want to cancel your account, write to accountcancelliation@accountant.com , i had problems with be2 brazil for my account cancelliation and a friend referred me to write to that email, and after filling a reconcilliation form, an email was sent my account after 5 working days that my subscription with be2 has be cancelled . my bank also write me about the be2 cancelliation, take this advantage now...goodluck

Join dating sites with a debit card, then your money is safe.

I laugh when i here a few people saying they found someone,

the odds are pretty staggering if you look at the numbers.

The plenty of fish founder in the UK \founds only 10k real female profile on a intimate encounter option, with 3 million supposed member, men are really getting scammed. He apologuised to the females but the men got didly squat n no money back. Dating sites were a fad, stick to the real world,

the odds are your going to get a lemon.

Its been 18 months since I joined up to this company's so called trial month, and even though I have proof of cancellation they don't want to know. I am now getting numerous e-mails about a court case coming into my junk mail which I keep deleting, I know its from them, its wanting me to open an attachment, which I won't do obviously,IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE. They must send hundreds of scam e-mails out like this and someone will cave in, thats what they're hoping for anyway. They'll be closed down eventually.........hopefully!

With regards to my above post, I have received an email today informing me that they now have applied to the district court order with jurisdiction for me to obtain the instrument permitting enforcement against me in the automated order to pay and enforcement order proceedings. As soon as they have received the instrument permitting enforcement they shall forward it to the bailiff with jurisdiction for me.

What they hell does this mean???

Hi, I am in NZ and I have been their latest victim.

I realized two days after I joined them that it is a scam.

I had the same difficulties to cancel membership as you guys.

What I did first I cancelled my credit card, however the bank said they cannot stop the payment. They advised me to fill-in the transaction dispute form and send the documents to prove that I did not receive any service. I just got an email from bank today that the transaction has been reversed. So remember guys even if you authorized the payment and the money went through you can still dispute it. Good luck.

Just ignore and please read the above what others have done. Make sure that you cancel the account. They can't do anything further. There is also a page on Facebook that is a lovely group of people that support each other. BUT DO IGNORE THEM. They do threaten people but they can't do much.

I cancelled my subscription back in Oct 2013. I emailed them, then faxed a signed letter letter to them like they asked. I have rang the numbers they gave me to speak to someone and they don't exist. I have been receiving threatening emails since Oct and the one I received today said that their client is complaining about the outstanding payment and is demanding that they now need to obtain an order to pay and enforcement order against me and institute compulsory execution.

They then carry on to say I had ample time to settle out of court and they are now complying with the clients urgent demand to enforce the claim in court. Apparently, I will incur solicitors fees, court and bailiff costs.

I am worried sick about being taken to court. I haven't replied to any of their emails. What should I do?

Many profiles there belong to scammers, and the way these guys do business it´s a scammer way.

      Hi every1.

I am a melbournian from australia.

After being scammed a few years ago by a "female" on a different site (benaughty.com) i have been very vigilant whenever i have been prompted to enter my CC details. Thus i have found these interesting facts regarding MOST dating sites. They are all in it to make money by any means!! From fake profiles to spamming inboxs with too good to be true offers. They all make it difficult to cancel. They all hide the true cost in the "fine print/t&c's".

      Be warned.

Regarding most scams you are able to get your money returned whether CC or debitcard or bank account details are used, all you need do is contact your bank and state FRAUDULENT USE has occurred. Every bank in the world are governed by law in regards to fradulent use of a bank account.

Most banks will demand you change card or account numbers to persue this and this is not just to safeguard you but also to safeguard them from repeated payment cancellations.

UNTIL YOU RECEIVE AN ACTUAL COURT DATE ignore what most collection agencies send you, they use the BULLYING SCARE TACTICS to make people pay thru fear of what might happen. For a dept collector to sue it costs THOUSANDS just to get into court so for a few hundred they wont bother and this statement is true no matter what industry, unless they KNOW 100% THEY WILL WIN THEY WONT BOTHER. I.e. This site wont bother, they dont have a legal leg to stand on due to their dishonest withdrawls that i have read has happened to many here and the almost impossible and shifty way they have setup the cancellation process.

They can NOT blemish your credit rating until its been to court is another law most dont know.

Whenever in doubt of a website GOOGLE IT.

My advice to anybody newly caught out or those in the middle is this.

Go to your bank, tell them fraud has occurred in your account. If they dont accept it then go home and ring the bank informing them your card is lost stolen and to put a stop on all outgoing transactions.

Dont bother trying to cancel your profile but do change its info so your name/address is not truly yours.

IGNORE the above 2 debt collectors. They have no conclusive proof of the contract and thus have no legal standing.

TAKE HEED OF THIS AND WHAT ANDY HAS SAID ABOVE.

They are SCAMMERS. They WILL try to bully you into paying... Dont let them SCAM you.

Luckily i always google search dating sites and casino sites these days BEFORE i signup so i wont ever get caught again.

I know this next bit is hard but... DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST. I know its easier said than done when u r sitting all alone on a cold winters nite with nobody to chat to but yourself but you MUST do internet website homework else you are setting yourself up for a fall.

Lastly as to involving any of the authorities. Presently its mostly still a waste of time until somebody can actually create a law that is binding on the internet, but due to the size the net now is and the fact its mostly lawless the authorities are fairly powerless to do anything. And if we tried litigation it would cost us thousands to probably get the website closed down just so they could then restart it elsewhere under a different name like most criminal organizations have done for ever when stopped by the law. One drug dealer gets busted and another starts up around the corner has been happening for years.

The only way to stop this website is for a PROPER INTERNET LAW to be created and able to be ENFORCED.

You get scammed by somebody in a different country and its nearly impossible to get your funds back or to bring them to justice presently.

      So in summation..

Change your card numbers or bank account numbers to stop further payments. Inform bank of fraud to recoup monies. Ignore legal papers from this company and its debt collectors.

I have read this blog of 2+ years and NOBODY has ever gotten a court date so ignore these scammers.

      I hope this helps.

      Hi Lucienne.

Was concerned when I 1st read your blog. I'd signed up jus 1 wk ago.

Then I checked terms & conditions. Says auto renewal & deduction unless u inform them.

Too many responses were coming in daily so I decided to shut down my profile.

Takes some time to find the cancellation form.

      Print it.

      Sign.

      Scan.

Email to be2 HQ in Luxembourg.

Within 3days they confirmed cancellation. Since I bought a 6mths plan, I still have to pay till 28 Aug 2014. But they promised thereafter no more deductions unless I decide to come back in.

Then go to settings to delete profile.

      Cheers.

I see this is mainly an older thread but please consider writing and complaining to

      Authority in Luxemburg:

Ministère de l’Economie et du Commerce extérieur

Direction du marché intérieur et de la consommation

      L – 2914 Luxembourg

      Email : consommateurs@eco.etat.lu

I just did so. If they get 50 complaints they might take an interest and imagine how GOOD it would feel to get some official action against these people!

Hi Nathan, I have been monitoring this saga for 2-3 years since I got caught, and to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever been visited by debt collectors, and noone has ever been taken to court by them. Let them try to take you to court if they dare? They won't. Also, where is their proof of contract? You've not signed anything.

Like many of you here i signed up thinking that it would just be another dating site.. i did the whole one time payment thinking nothing of it, a few months later i notice $234 was taken out of my account, i sent them an email requesting they cancel my subscription and account, also refusing to provide my signature (like hell i'm giving them my signature after they have my card number.) and after weeks of waiting, no response.

Sadly due to work and everything going on around me i forgot about it. Another $234 withdrawal later i went to the bank and lodged a dispute and got it back. To which Be2 sends me an email saying they noticed i withdrew the money i "payed" them. It's at this point that i realised between this payment and they last my card had expired and i received a new card expiry and CVV number. So how on earth did they manage to successfully take that money out the 2nd time? So i recently got the last lot of $234 back after a month and a bit. Be2 sent me an email not long after giving me 30 days to pay it back or else they will take legal action. It's been those 30 days now and i now have an email saying they are taking legal action. Before i lodged my dispute claim i cancelled my old card and received a new one with new number.

"As there is a valid contract between you and be2 we take now legal measures and hand your case to our collection agency. You will be contacted shortly."

One thing i forgot to mention is during the period of trying to get my most recent withdrawal back off them i tried logging into their site to cancel the way everyone has been saying to. Funny thing, my account doesn't exist any more and their system says that my email address (the same one they are sending the threats to) is not in their system.

So i have a question for everyone still reading this and has experienced what i've had. Has a debt collector actually contacted you in regards to this Be2 dribble? If they have, how do I (and everyone else here) get out of this painful mess? Or if not, is there anything we need to worry about once we've ensured they can't take our money anymore?

I got caught by a Nigerian scam site several years ago lost money. I joined B2 only 4 wks ago and have become increasingly suspicious . The phone number I was given was for the Phillipines and the guy would answer it initially. I deleted my profile and his went also once we started chatting on Yahoo... Finally I got a request for money yesterday and the warning bells rang !! ding ding ding . I refused - did a bit of research through "romance Scammer site" and found that the guy is actually in Hong Kong not an Australian engineer in the Phillipines.. So only lost $A5 for the initial 14 day membership.

This is how it worked out for me at last:

Use the e-mail you got congratulating you for your premium membership.

      Send them a threatening e-mail:

I terminate the services of B2 with immediate effect.

As per entitlement “under Swiss law a contract must be able to be immediately terminated at any time no matter what the terms and conditions of the contracts between the parties states".

Further, I contradict expressly any agreement between B2 and me, referring to the German Civil Code, as B2 conditions run counter in several ways as specified in the § 242 BGB codified principle of good faith. "If a transaction is immoral, it is according to § 138 paragraph 1 BGB null and void ab initio”.

I expect an immediate deletion of my profile on your website as well as the confirmation of the termination.

Further I expect an immediate credit of the paid amount xxxx

Should you fail to do so you will be facing legal actions.

.....first thing you get is an automatic reply from their customer service. Keep it as evidence. Then you will get an e-mail as outlined in many notes above to follow the official path........which we all know will not work.........your password will not work either........and getting a new one neither........make sure you have a print screen o f each of the steps which fail............you send them one last note, that the deletion of the profile and premium-membership does not work and that you are aware that this is a set-up and that you kept all the print-screens for evidence. That you expect it to work in the next hours and that you otherwise report them to the authorities..........a couple of hours later it worked........you need to be patient though and click several times until you finally will be able to end the premium membership as well as deleting your profile. Again, make print screens of every step. ........3 days nerve racking............done!!! Contribute that these guys are finally going done and log-on to "scam-book" to make your report. Cheers and all the best

Hi there! I would like to hear your comments about my situation that I have.

I signed up on be2 in August. When In September i realized that all that site is fake I tried to delete my account but they wouldn't let me. I tried to cancel my membership but they wouldn't let me do that either. In the first month I payed 5Euro, the next month they told me that they cannot take away the 5Euro from my bank because my bank has rejected that. I tried to contact the be2 site, after a few weeks they sent me an email saying that I have to now pay them 265Euro, now few days ago they sent me an email saying that I now have to pay 287Euro.

At least they cannot take the money away because my bank rejects it.

Today they sent me an email saying that they will sent me to court.

I went to solicitors today. I will be delighted if anyone could respond to me of what is the best thing that I could do in this situation. Waiting for your responses. Thank you.

      reasons to avoid be2

All the profiles are fake. I spoke to several girls who approached me and then made out they werent interested at all-for the usual stupid reasons like "the distance" and that "they are looking for something else" or "they are on holiday for several weeks" and "you hadnt contacted me for several days so thought you werent interested" .. blah blah.

In the last few weeks they have ALL cancelled

The site is hard to use and navigate and its very hard to cancel

theres lots of bad feedback and complaints

      customer service is almost non-existent

the company is based in Luxembourg but the fax 0207 785 9384 is in london. what?

Suggestions to get away from this scam company:

      1. Use pamfax to set up a free acount and fax the cancellation once you work out how to cancel your account-that is delete and deactivate it!

      2. I also suggest reporting your debit card lost and get it replaced. that way you can check if they try to take from your old credit card.

      3. I also suggest keeping copies of your faxes to the number quoted and emails to/from tom brooking. He is fairly good. Petser him with emails if necessary to make sure they have closed the account and will not go near you again

      4. there are so many auto responses to emails. I recommend you contact tom brooking and ask for a read receipt if using Microsoft Outlook-his email address is thomas.brooking@be2.com although their standard email is advertised as variations of : customerservice@be2.co.uk billing@be2.co.uk etc...

I haven't had the problem with funds and the bank. I got women contacts that say they are in Africa and will talk on Skype, but their timezone is middle of us. On the first day, their will be contact, lovely chats. On the second day, They will ask you for money, when you refuse, no more chats. I don't have memberships and the site won't allow profile to be deleted. Message (Must first cancel premium membership). This error has you locked in. So I changed my profile message to "This site is a scam site", under profession " Fending off gold diggers" and changed my email to my ex-wife's which is cancelled and has an auto responder message on it.

Feel an idiot now. I caved in. Paid Intrum Justitia. Just received an email from Ms Pardeau at Be2. She claims they understand that they can't satisfy all of their customers! Hilarious. I asked her if she was male or female. Apparently having deleted my profile yesterday and sent a letter by recorded delivery saying I don't want to be a member anymore, she won't delete my profile until I send confirmation of having paid Intrum. It is pure extortion. Whoever heard of a dating site you can't get off?!!!! I am tragic. I feel such an idiot. I did however write to Watchdog yesterday and this morning I wrote to Dispatches and Panorama. I suggest that others do the same. Volume of letters is the only way to exposing this scam which seems to have been going on for years. Would it not be great if someone made a programme about them! Do write in.

Just been reading through this website. I begin to understand more. Intrum Justitia are working with this lot. I have been so entirely de-stabilised by this whole business. I have lost sleep over it. I think I am more than anything totally ashamed that I could have been taken in. Anyway, I urge you all to write to Watchdog. Blogs are great, but we need to write to people who could actually expose this fraud. I have written to Watchdog. I will try Panorama and Despatches. I would love to hear from those who are in agreement. We can stand together.

I am a teacher in Essex. I have just paid £100 pounds to Be2 through their debt collecting friends Intrum Justitia. I could not risk my credit rating or my role as a teacher. I have also written to Watchdog sending them printed materials of sites from the internet regarding the scam that Be2 operates. I urge everyone to write to Watchdog. It will back up my story and if nothing else, they might warn people on their website or in their publications about this hideous outfit which calls itself a 'dating agency.' I urge you strongly to write to them. We owe it others who have been scammed.

I have been reciving the same emails for a few months now...

They have told me that i owe them 82 euro

Basically i Signed up a While ago (Over a Year now...) But Cancelled my account by Phone as they used to have a Number that you could contact between 12 & 3 - Funnily this Number now that i need it to actually speak to someone there instead of Constant emails is no longer available.

Anyway.. it was all cancelled.. and the girl at the other end was going to send me an email confirming this. this was late november last year. Unfortunatley or should i say stupidly i never followed this email up as life got very busy as i was moving home.. They Took and another payment for 6 months at £29.00 or something from my card, which also due to the move I didn’t notice had come out of my account… Very remiss of me I know… But very busy and stressful times…

New credit card arrived and the old one expired and therefore the cancelled account could not renew automatically and the emails began… I contacted them constantly to begin with regarding this matter – Via email as this the only contact available for them now - and all I got was you account has been passed to the collections department… I stated that this respond was unacceptable and have since emailed them Every day for a contact number for customer services so that I can discuss the matter with someone as the Email address that was registered is no longer in use

Today I got your case has been forwarded to the collection agency… You can find further details in the letter you receive from the collection agency.

Help is also available at any time by clicking support on our homepage…

May I add that I can no longer get on to the homepage with my login details as this account has now been cancelled!!! Go figure

Really at a lose what to do now… Cant get hold of anyone… No one contacts me… I’ll be damned if I and transferring money into an account when I cant even speak to anyone about it !!!

I am worried that the bill is going to go from 82 euros to 820 euros or that my credit score is going to be affected by these thieving gits

What should i do now ????

I have been having a 2 month email war with this group, approx 60 emails sent to me thus far.

I thought I'd cancelled my subscription way back 6 or so months ago, but apparently not and am now getting the threatening emails about legal getting involved.

      I am in Australia.

And it is funny how I haven't had anything from this site, absolutely nothing since I had cancelled it and all of a sudden I have gotten 3 'potential' matches just prior to all the 'subscription issues'. I believe they were trying to say I was using the site by getting the matches emailed to me. It is very nerve wracking that I am going through this, as I don't want to open my email as there is one there every day practically, demanding money or legal threats. Just venting.

the fax number for this Be2 group is 1 305 7048396.

They asked me to send a request to cancel this Premium Membership, after they billed me for this after my trial $5 period, this for sure a SCAM,I sent 3 fax's to them signed by me, and also explained that no where on there site did I see anywhere for me to decline on going fees after the $5 trial period,in very small print it did state that there was a fee for Premium Membership, but again there is no where to say yes or no to this, you would need a magnifying glass to read these fees. They keep trying to take this fee out of my Mastercard Account but my the M/C card company has refused to honour this bill,I explained that the company offered me a $5 trial period, then started to ask for the $179.95 membership after the trial,Be2 stated that this fee would be charged after the $5 Trial, but I stared that there is NOWHERE on the form to allow me to DECLINE, they should be up front and let the customers DECLINE/ACCCEPT. B e upfront with all customers do not lie to them. This is a very A BIG SCAM, hope I can get it solved, but they keep insisting that I should allow them to charge it on my Card, or it will affect my Credit Rating,I am in Ontario Canada/

Lucieanne's experience is identical to hundreds I have read. I paid $5 a month ago, got bounced back emails and when phoning to unsubscribe got told after waiting 10 to 15 minutes to cancel online. After finally getting an email through and told I am unsubscribed my card has had over $200 removed by be2. I have started action with the bank and am going through consumer affairs. The only way to stop unethical companies and stop other people getting ripped of by standover merchants, who use the law and threats to relieve lonely people of their money under false pretense. Spread the word. Stop other people getting ripped off. be2 is bad news.

This is the last mail I got from the debt collectors!

      Dear Be2 user,

You have not reacted to our previous reminders and not made any payments. Although we

even granted you the option of not settling the claim until one month later or paying it off in

reasonable monthly instalments, you have not felt the need to repay your debt to our client.

You therefore force us to pass the file on to our Litigation Department. There they will prepare

legal proceedings against you, obtain the court instrument permitting enforcement and institute

the requisite compulsory execution measures to enforce our client's claim. This will incur further

court costs, solicitors' fees and bailiffs' disbursements. These will clearly increase the claims.

Our Litigation Department will inter alia enforce the garnishment of bank accounts, income from

employment, insurance policies, retirement pension expectancies, etc. We wish to expressly point

out that our client will not forego its claim and will do everything to collect the outstanding

debts. With the obtaining of the enforceable instrument and implementation of all necessary

compulsory execution measures our client has instructed us just as with a long-term monitoring

of an enforceable instrument. This guarantees that in the next 30 years, in a constantly recurring

rotation, execution measures can be taken against you insofar as necessary. To prevent us

passing your file on to the Litigation Department, we are giving you a last opportunity to

transfer the claim amounting to EUR 176,62 into our account quoting the reference number

29530020722 by 03.10.13 at the latest. You can only prevent your file being passed on to the

      Litigation Department by paying by

03.10.13 (receipt of money in our account)

or by submitting a reasonable offer to pay by instalments. In your own interest we can

only urge you to contact us immediately.

      Yours sincerely,

Its been nearly 3 months since I sent the legal letter mentioned earlier in this thread to Intrum Justitia and have not heard from them since. Also sent a letter to Be2 (after all other attempts to cancel were ignored) . Here is a copy of the letter I sent Be2:

      24/06/2013

      Email address: (my email address)

      To whom it may concern,

I hereby give notice to cancel my subscription/membership and profile.

      User name: (my username)

      User ID: (my user ID)

      Premium Membership

      Product bought: 02/02/2012

PLEASE SEND ME CONFIRMATION WITHIN 7 DAYS OF RECEIVING THIS LETTER, THAT YOU HAVE FINALLY CANCELLED MY MEMBERSHIP/SUBSCRIPTION AND DELETED MY PROFILE.

DO NOT SEND ME EMAILS REGARDING PROSPECTIVE SUITORS.

      I am NOT interested!

Please forward to me via email your 'full terms and conditions' along with the signed agreement for Premium Membership which I supposedly agreed to when I signed up for the free trial on 2/2/2012

I also did not receive a confirmation email regarding this agreement which I should have received as this is a legal requirement.

I have infact tried several times to cancel my Subscription online however I have never received confirmation from you. You have however, acknowledged these attempts in your correspondence and you have NEVER MENTIONED that I would have to send either a fax or letter supporting my wish to cancel even when using your ONLINE Cancellation process. You have in fact made it as difficult as possible to cancel Memberships. Your Terms and Conditions are misleading along with your Cancellation Process.

Since you have acknowledged in previous emails my attempts to Cancel be it by automated emails/standardised emails from one Jeremy O'Conner and email from one Sharon Wilson, who still refuses to cancel my subscription/membership. I would like to be reimbursed for the payments you took in March 2012 and September 2012 to the sum of £299.86

Any further emails regarding non-payment of Membership or attempt to take unauthorised payments will be deemed as theft and Harassment

and will be dealt with as such.

      Sincerely

      (my name)

Be2 acknowledge receipt of the letter but have refused to close my account and membership.

There is nothing Be2 can do. They haven't taken any more money not that they could as I informed my Bank a while back.

My suggestion to newbies is to follow earlier posts and send Intrum Justitia this letter:

      IN DISPUTE

THIS CORRESPONDENCE IN NO WAY ACKNOWLEDGES ANY ALLEGED DEBT BY ANY ALLEGED CREDITORS

I {firstname} of the {second name} family, a living soul agent for the legal entity MISS FIRST NAME SURNAME (MUST BE IN CAPITALS)!!.

I am in receipt of your notice dated 11 March 2011 ref : 2882564. addressed to the legal entity FIRSTNAME SURNAME regarding an outstanding debt in the amount of .........

I conditionally accept your notice of alleged debt upon receiving the following :

      1. Proof of debt , Validation of the actual debt .

      2. Full disclosure of the alleged debt.

      3. Verification of your claim against me.

It may be wise to take note that the following are the terms of a lawful contract:

      1. Full disclosure.

      2. Equal consideration.

      3. Lawful terms and conditions.

      4. Signatures of the Parties/Meeting of the Minds.

I demand that all of the above conditions be met and presented in Affidavit format sworn under oath or attestation, under penalty of perjury and upon your full commercial liability. Due to the urgency and seriousness of this allegation, I will give you fourteen (14) days to respond. If I do not receive such a response conforming to the above criteria within fourteen (14) days of the date of this letter, it will be deemed a tacit agreement by your acquiescence that the debt is null and void and non-existent.

Sincerely and without prejudice, malice, afterthought, ill will, vexation or frivolity,

You wont hear back from them. x

Its been nearly a year now since I took out the £5 trial month offer with this so called company, and though I have sent proof of cancellation to the scum bags in Germany they have completely ignored it, all they want is your money, well they're not getting mine. Their e-mails to me now are sent straight back to them!

be2 are internet scumbags, a second-rate dating site that lures customers with a €5 introductory month then makes it difficult to cancel the recurring billing, leading to a much larger sum (€180) being taken out of your bank account a month later. In fact you don't have a month to cancel, their terms state you must cancel two weeks prior to the recurring billing, so YOU HAVE TO CANCEL WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF JOINING AND THIS HAS TO BE DONE BY POST OR FAX. Merely deleting your profile does NOT cancel future billing.

If you go into My Profile - Settings - Premium Membership you might be fooled into thinking this is the place to cancel recurring billing; not so, it says you can't until your first €5

payment clears, but never seems to get activated...it's a red herring.

You need to follow this path:

-click on Support (bottom of webpage)

-type in "contact" in the search box

-click on "how can I cancel my premium membership?"

-on this page there's a cleverly hidden link, you'll see at the right hand side there's a second small scroll bar below a bigger one. Use the arrow at the bottom right and then click the "here"

      link.

-on the next page click the "here for more information" link

-on the next page click on "Premium Membership and payment"

-on the next page click on "Payment"

-on the next page, near the bottom of the page, click on "ending your Premium Membership online here"

-on the next page click on the "Continue" button

-on the next page you have to select a reason for leaving, and type at least one letter into the text box ("fuck you!" would do nicely!) then click the "Continue" button.

-on this last page, click on "Print" to print out a letter that you must then fax or post to be2...the address and number appear on the printout; there's also an option to save this letter as a

      pdf file.

Or: you can find the address & fax number to contact in the "terms and conditions" (link at the bottom of the webpage), section 9, which also tells you what information to send.

Once I'd figured this all out (a very late night!) I sent both a fax and a registered letter in good time; also, I have read tales of be2 taking money even after a cancellation, and many others saying be2 claimed the letter never arrived.so on the advice of

my bank I cancelled the card and got a new one issued, (it's not possible for the bank to stop payment otherwise) and I left a copy of the cancellation letter and its fax receipt with the bank.

B2 are obviously running it as a strategy--everything about the way they transact, run their website and do customer service is designed to make this happen. I've asked my bank to dispute the transaction so I hope that will work. I think I will complain to the ACCC as well.

As a show of good faith I enclose a travel voucher that can be used by your good selves at any time of the year forthwith Enjoy !

I cant upload the travel voucher because I cant upload images on here ! but if any one would like one ? i guarantee it will make you laugh let me know !

Keep your chins up , keep smiling , and tell them to fuck off !! because nothing will happen !! I PROMISE

Hello ..I too have had a year of tis crap from these scammers, the same shit! I did see my solicitor and not once did this German Bank respond back, They have up to now given me 3 deadlines to pay 200 odd Euros. Firstly when I asked if they would take installments, they baulked at that, now they offer this to me twice all of a sudden!

I just heard today from my solicitor that they are scammers as he googled them!

I have looked at numerous sites and lo and behold they are scamming so many!! All in the same situation as me.I have sent this Bank representing Be2 loads of proof of trying to cancel my membership after a month into it. I even sent them proof of the "fax" I tried but wouldn't send either, I even sent them correspondence from Paypal and myself that my account was hacked in February and my debit card closed by my bank. Thank God that happened because Be2 could not take money from me. All this proof wasn't acknowleged either even though they asked for the proof, after I challenged them on this rebilling crap.

So, I am pleased to see this page, I will Ignore these crooks from now on and try not to worry . Thanks everyone.

      This has been enlightening.

Best of luck to all involved, keep me posted please.

I followed the online cancellation process and got a standard reply trying to offer me advice and help in improving my chances. Gee whiz which part of "Cancel my SUBSCRIPTION" don't they understand??? If they can't understand English they shouldn't be advertising or selling a product in that Country. Surely they can't be that ignorant??? As far as I can see if they have acknowledge an attempt by replying even with an automated reply) to your request to Cancel then under German Trading Laws whether or not they except is still valid proof that you made an attempt to Cancel. I'm sure I read somewhere that they don't even have to acknowledge receipt as long as you can prove you made an attempt to cancel. If they offer (which they did) when I signed up, the option to Cancel Online (I now see that its via an online Process which was not made clear before you press any buttons) then they must accept this. Correct me if I am wrong but now where before or after did it say the ONLINE Process was complicated and they never once mentioned that you would still have to send a print off via Mail or fax. There are cases on here that do clearly say you can cancel online without the print off but no one seems to remember exactly how they did it. If this is the case then Be2 have clearly broken their Term and Conditions and have in fact mislead people and have not been forthcoming with their Terms and Conditions (Contract). Under German Trading Law they have to be up front and things made easy and clear to read and Digest. If their terms and Conditions are Not then they are walking a really fine line between legal and illegal. I get the feeling this Company is walking that very line, what's more I fear they are changing their rules as they go along. May I ask has anyone ever printed off Be2 Full Terms and Conditions. Is it in fact possible?

      Keep your chins up.

And Yes I'm going to fight.

      xx

PS. I wonder if it annoys the hell out of Be2 that people are actually coming together, not because of the Good things they Promised but due to their incompetence lol

I too have ended up in the same situation with this bunch. I took out their £5 for a month offer and the first person I encountered was a scammer which put me right off so decided not to use the site again. Stupidly I assumed the membership was only for a month and did no more about it. A month later and they took £99 from my card, so I complained via e-mail, and cancelled the so called subscription. They sent me an automated reply 5 minutes later detailing how to go about cancelling on their site. Like so many of you I tried this but of course it didn't work and as I had written to them about cancelling I stupidly did no more about it. I immediately put a block on my credit card . They certainly don't care about the bad experiences you have and just ignore one's comments about it. Its all about getting your money! Anyway, 6 months down the line they tried to take more money from me and e-mails have been going back and forward for the past 2 weeks. They insist that they have heard nothing from me with reference to cancellation even though they sent me a reply. Crazy or what. They say that they don't accept e-mails as cancellation! They've now threatened to put it into the hands of debt collectors. I've ignored this but I'm in my 60's now and live on my own and its a worry I can do without. Surely they wont take me to court for £99.......will they?

I am really tired of this..., I am so regretting joining them!! They will be deducting money from me for nothing! They are just criminals! Somebody has to investigate this agency! Hello Cind. I am totally fed up with them also. I have contacted the ECC. I have told them all the problems I have had and I am having with this awful company. I have never owed any money in my life and feel totally ripped off by this scam outfit.

I am awaiting a reply from them. I do know one thing. I cancelled, I sent them a fax and I have done nothing wrong and I owe them not one penny. I am also being threatened, but I am not going to give them one penny. From all that I have read I cant find one person who has actually gone to court or had collectors turn up for money.

Im just finding the whole business something I could do without. But I would rather argue in court than pay these criminals a penny. Andy posts on here and his advice is spot on.

Just a silly thought but I wonder if this company pay's its fair share of Company Tax in the UK or any other Country that isn't Germany? Its a big topic at the moment as well as a big problem world wide. Pity HMC doesn't investigate them, since they have done with Amazon and some others.

Happened to me too. Signed up for a FREE 1 month trail Feb 2012. Tried to Cancel in March. Tried again in August 2012 to cancel after realising they hadn't cancelled but they still took £149.95 from my account in September. In March 2013 they took a further £149.95. This time I contacted my bank and was refunded my money. However that's not the end of the story. I then got a threatening email from them that if I didn't pay then they would refer the case to their collection agency which turns out to be Intrum Justitia which was POSTED TO ME (they have my address). I did not ignore the letter and sent Intrum an email. They now wish me to send them the confirmation that I had in fact Cancelled my subscription so they could pass it on to their clients however in their email they say that you have to send a fax or a letter to Luxembourg as their clients do not except emails but B2 advertise that they have an online cancellation process which I followed but I don't actually have a confirmation from B2.com only a letter fobbing me off with excuses as to why I should stay. At the bottom of the email is a further link that is supposed to end your membership which I clicked on but it obviously didn't work as I received no confirmation that they had cancelled my membership. My cancellation email was dated 26/08/2012, their fob off email 28/8/2012.

Totally fed up with it and they have now blocked me so I am unable to even try to follow their online Cancellation Process again but I still get their pathetic emails for my supposed Matches.

Anyway I'm going to send them a written letter cancelling my Membership I will also back date it to the 26th August 2012 since I was not at fault. This letter will be sent by recorded post.

Has anyone ever been taken to court??? Does anyone know where we should really take our complaints so something really does get done about this Company?

HI...everyone here..i have read all your comments and complaints about Be2 Thank you for Mdm Luciene who opened this threads and thank you for all of you for sharing your bad experiences with Be2. I have joined Be2 last month and i have received a lot of emails from Be2 saying that i have met a good matches and received few emails from the members from Be2. but I'm surprised every time i clicked the link from my email always asked me to pay become a Premium Member as low as $5.00 then when i clicked again it increase the member fee for six months. I'm still thinking if i become a member can i get a partner in Be2 while i look into the profile all cant see the photos and cant msg to PM unless I sign up as a PM too. I'm curious why all members come from the same country New Zealand and Uk professional and businessman and all of them are widow wife died in accident and plane crashed. Funny thing is why their photos are the same as the age only different name. And when I'm not sign up Be2 stop email me " good match' these few days..thats why i started to find out where is this sites come from. And finally i found this pages .Thanks God i'm save my $$ by not signing up after i read all your comments.Thank you to all of you ....from my past experienced and nightmare to me i want to share wth you all . I have been ripoff 3 times in 3 dating sites. And i think i settle down here in Be2 but the same, these dating sites are all conquered by NIGERIAN & SENEGAL SCAMMERS..1st times i have lost my money 500 pounds ,2nd times and 3rd i have wasting my value times on that site and lost my heart. I believed in karma..one day what they did they will get back from God above!.

Hi Kimmi and Holly, Yes I've read Andy's comments! And I agree with everything he has said.. Here's there latest reply from them:

      "Thank you for your message.

Please note that we do offer 4 options to cancel - by phone, by post, by fax or email as an attachment.

Customers should try other ways to cancel or simply contact us by email if they encounter problems with cancelling.

If you do not want to continue the service please ensure you cancel correctly and in time to stop the renewal payment.

Please feel free to contact us if you have further questions."

And this is my last reply to them:

"Below are some of the correspondence, I've been receiving from you...Have a look at the way you've treated your customer....you keep giving me the runaround, and wasted hours of my time and money..I should be charging you for all the STD phone calls i've been making to the (02) 85181245, and holding for 5 mins each time, then telling me to try another time or send an email! ....Then you have the nerve to tell me in your last email that you have four options to cancel and that I should be trying them all.....Which planet do you live on, when you give people options it means that we choose which is convenient for us, and that all options should be working promptly and efficiently.....But obviously this is your "Scam Ploy" to dishonestly steal from people's accounts....You have no shame! ...and I will make it a priority for me to let it be known to others of your Criminal activities. And I've advised the Australian Consumer Affairs about your organisation...and they were already aware of your reputation!

This will be the last communication you will receive from me.....And I've made sure that you will not be stealing anymore money from me!"

Dont panic Holly....They're full of CRAP....

      Keep you informed!

I realise now that they are nothing more than bullys and crooks. I am ignoring them. But I do feel anxious. There is no way I am going to pay them a thing. I would rather go to court then pay those scumbags a penny.

Hey Michael, sounds like my experience as well. I however, didn't sign up for that long. I cancelled within the first month and thankfully only lost $5. I have numerous emails from them. All stating that they have no evidence of my cancellation etc. I have now received collection notices from some company in Ireland, it is a noreply email so I can't even send an email. However, I have reported them to the ACCC as well. I am taking the advice of all the other people on this site and am ignoring them completely. Guess we will see what happens when the 7 days are up that they have given me to pay. Read Andy's comments they are brilliant and I am following his advice...goodluck Kimmi

G'day guys,I'm from Melbourne , Australia..... i've also joined these "Predators" in Feb 2013...for 3 months, after experiencing the logistics of their site, I realised it was "Crap"...I complained and requested my money back, but they refused...so I thought, what the hell , let it go and cancel later...anyhow 3 weeks before it was due for renewal , i attempted to cancel the membership everyday by phone , with no success...so i wrote them this email

"I have been trying to call your customer services advisors every night with no success..I have been calling numerous time between the hours of 7pm and 11pm...when I eventually get through, i'm kept on the line by an answering recording for approximately 4 to 5 mins...then i get this recorded message "transferring you through now" then immediately this message " unfortunately we cannot take your call at the moment, all our customer service advisors are dealing with other calls, please call back another time or email us on customerservice@be2.com.au".

I wrote you in desperation, after trying for a week to make contact by phone as your website recommended, and yet you stall and continued to avoid cancelling the account

For the final and last time I will ask you to cancel this membership immediately...and if I get any email from you other than confirmation of my request to cancel the account, i will take the matter to the Australian consumer affairs....I will also be notifying Paypal and my Bank accordingly, so that any debits occur on my account from your behalf, that it is a fraudulant transaction."

So the following was their reply,

      "Thank you for your email.

Please forward proof of the calls you have made to us so we may review your case.

According to our records, we have not received a cancellation form or any contact from you concerning cancellation.Without a signed cancellation form received from a customer the membership is automatically renewed. This is stated in the General Terms and Conditions which you agreed to and repeated during the sign up process for membership. This policy is again reiterated on your purchase receipt. Please note that cancellation of membership should be done at least 14 days prior to the renewal date, in order to avoid the Premium Membership extension. If there was a mistake on our part and a signed cancellation was sent by letter, fax or email attachment, please send us the original email, copy of your fax receipt or copy of proof of a registered letter so that we may verify cancellation and make the correct adjustments regarding your account. If you are unable to provide verifiable proof of cancellation you will be held liable for the charges incurred.Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."

      So I emailed the following

"I regret to say that i have wasted more than enough time dealing with you. You want to find out how your customer service advisors number deals with your customers....you ring up the number and listen to the recorded message.(02) 85181245 between 7pm and 11pm....

It is sad that dating sites like yours exist, with no honesty and integrity.

You will not be getting any further payments from me, and i will be reporting your website to the Australian consumer affairs."

So anyhow guys, I want to thank you all for sharing your experiences with these "SCUMS OF THE EARTH".....Judging from what you all had to say, I will be expecting some further communications from these Scums...Of course i have already closed my credit card account...I shall keep you posted!!

I have noticed that the site hadn't been on my Facebook, until a couple of days ago it wasn't being advertised as be2.com but something called verify.com, then listed be2 further in the add. I have stopped it from coming up now. Hopefully they have received enough complaints and the ACCC and other authorities will take a better look and shut them down completely. Thanks again everyone. Just sort your bank situation out and if you start getting letters, bin them. I was lucky, i didnt register and pay so they didnt have my card details hence why they chose to send letters instead demanding money.

Hi same happening to me, I am lucky so far they haven't taken anything further from my account. I have notified my bank and reported to ACCC (Australia). They are threatening me with debt collection. I am a single mum of two and can't affort to be taken to debt collection. I am however, going to follow Andy's advice and not give in. I will also put my name in support of any legal action that can be taken to get these scammers of the internet and praying on vulnerable people.

I had the same experience but luckily stopped my card before they could take further payments. After threatening that I would copy my email to many agencies including watchdog etc the director told me they would cancel my membership (which I had already done) and cancel my debt..but never wanted to hear from me again. This was over a year ago and I have now received a threat from the debt collection agency. Stupidly I no longer have the PC with the copy of the email but have no intention of giving in to this kind of extortion.

So I am also happy to support anyone facing court action from these crooks. Does anyone know of a court case or further action which they have taken?

same for me - cancelled subscription in May 2012 - but they made me pay for another 6 months. Now chasing me for money I don't owe them and received a solicitor's letter this morning. Complete crooks. Phoned the solicitor who was very helpful and said they would challenge Be2 about it.
