Sri Lanka the perfect location for a beach wedding

Beach weddings in Sri Lanka are getting extremely popular, not only among the locals but with visiting foreigners as well. If you are planning a beach wedding, Sri Lanka is the perfect place for you. It has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and there is sun all year around so you can have that tropical wedding without bothering about the rain. Because of the increasing trend in beach weddings, some Sri Lankan hotels have special beach wedding packages which are far more affordable than normal wedding packages. The low cost of having a wedding and the beautiful locations are two of the reasons why Sri Lanka is a popular tourist destination for beach weddings. If you are a tourist who is looking to get married in Sri Lanka then you should be aware of the laws regarding marrying in Sri Lanka. If you are not sure it is a good idea to check with the embassy, since there are many tourist marriages I doubt there is a complicated process.

Selecting a hotel for beach weddings in Sri Lanka

There are plenty of hotels near the beach so you have plenty of options available to you. Sometimes having too many options is also a bad thing, here are few things you should look for when selecting a hotel for a beach wedding.

Having a well maintained and beautiful looking garden is a great help when you want to take photos of the most memorable day of your life. You also need to make sure that there is enough beach area to have a decent ceremony. In some areas of the island the sea is very close and you don't have a good enough beach for a wedding.

Another thing to look for is the cost, usually they are cheaper than a normal wedding package. But if you are a tourist some hotels will try to charge you extra, so it is good to do some research and compare prices before contacting a suitable hotel.

Additional things to make it special

There are some extra things you can do to make it really special and truly Sri Lankan. One of the things tourist love the most is taking pictures of the wedding couple on top of an Elephant. It is also considered good luck to walk under the belly of the Elephant. In traditional Kandyan weddings, the groom comes to the ceremony on top of an Elephant, so you can do the same. You can add drummers and dancers for the entering ceremony to make it more special.

Another thing you can try out is to dress in traditional Sri Lankan wedding attire. The bride can wear a sari and the groom can wear nilame attire or the national dress. This is a great way to make your wedding a unique one while adding some Sri Lankan flavor to it. These additions will cost you extra, so be mindful of the costs while going for these options.
