Being Yourself - Does Your World Show a Heart?

Updated on July 25, 2010
The road you want to be on!
The road you want to be on!

I have to say it upsets me sometimes how this world is not always tolerant enough of difference.

There should be no prejudice but prejudice against prejudice itself!

Is it a FAIR world YOU live in? It should be! Demand it should be! Spread the word, spread the humanity.

Treat everyone as an individual with their own fascinating characteristics!

It should not be difficult for anyone and everyone to be trually themselves although doing this can lead to conflict in some cases, the conflict should never stem from not respecting the rights of others to be different.

"This above all: to thine own self be true" comes from Shakespeare's Hamlet Act 1, yet do YOU live in an enlightened world where this is fully respected as an ideal principle?

If you don't already, I ask you to spread the word - LET LOVE BE! let everyone BE WHO he or she TRUALLY is without FEAR.

If no-one, is getting hurt or exploited (I'm not advocating exploitation of children here!) I say theire should be no limit to what we do or how we define ourselves as human adults.

In the Hamlet scene, Polonius gives this as his parting advice to his son Laertes who is going to Paris.

This above all: to thine own self be true,

And it must follow, as the night the day,

Thou canst not then be false to any man.

Farewell, my blessing season this in thee!

But how do we arrive at such a noble principle if we feel 1. the world does not show a heart and 2. will not acknowledge us except with rejection, anger & or violence?

No one should FEEL this; though sometimes we will need to communicate better what we would like and ALSO LISTEN to where others are at so we too are just.

At his best, man is the noblest of all animals; separated from law and justice he is the worst. - Aristotle

Has the world come far enough in accepting who we are without prejudice or judgement?

This is enlightenment and perhaps only those who are enlightened can hear this. Hopefully, they remain in the majority especially wherever YOU, dear reader, may be so that YOU too can one day be FREE to NOT look inward and NOT have to say

This above all: to MY own self ....

yes...

I AM true!

YOU ARE THERE ALREADY BECAUSE IT IS ALREADY GIVEN.

If you belong with the enlightened already, I congratulate you!

      Hey psychicdog.net,

23 months later are you still psychicdog.net or are you someone new? LOL.

I am on a project of reading each individual that at one time followed me. This brought me to you. I liked reading you hub and I wanted to say that for me the focus of living is to know what I want from this life. I have determined that I can only master my self and hope that this focus contributes an element of peace to the collective consciousness.

Thanks for being a part of that!

      Gratefully,

      Bruce

Probably everyone feels accepted at times, and rejected at other times. I try to communicate little, becauase I feel I am too sensitive, and it is best kept to myself. (:v

@James I don't remember who wrote the words but don't "lose that loving feeling" James! Thanks for dropping by.

@Money Glitch. Listen and follow - the heart or the head - a very old argument and so many have it with themselves! I related to your shopping experience totally. What is it about hubbers, so many of them 'get it' while others appear not to. Birds of a feather stick together.

Hhhmmm, it would be great if everyone would take the time to listen to their hearts prior to reacting to a given situation. However, many individuals are so busy planning a 'future' action that they tend to loose touch with the presence that is occurring around them.

Just a few hours ago, I was strolling in a store to pick up a couple of items, everyone around me appeared to be on a stressed out running mission to be the first in line, to hurry out of the store, never acknowledging anyone or anything. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on such an important matter, "One's heart." :)

I love everybody, even friends or family members who are hopeless drug addicts. I do think a line can and should be drawn between loving and helping everyone; versus approving or celebrating all that people do.
