1. Exercising

When I say exercise I definitely do not mean a strict diet or an intense workout!

I am not one to follow a strict diet or an intense workout but yes I have been through really intense break-up's and being single for a long time did affect me emotionally. By using exercise as a way of clearing my head, did work a lot. It not only helps keep my head clear of depressing thoughts but it helps keep me healthy as well.

Follow simple videos on YouTube that allow you to exercise and have fun at the same time. YouTube consists of different types of workout routines, such as dance work out routines and exercise routines that help you tone your body. An alternate to YouTube is purchasing workout DVD's at a local store, they generally have a variety of workout options to choose from.

Walk with a friend, your pet dog or someone you are close to. Using this way as an alternative to going to the gym can be emotionally and physically beneficial. Initially begin with short walks and slowly increase the distance of walking, while walking you are able to open up to your friend and they will help you get your mind of things and keep you company.

2. Occupy yourself

Dawdling and going into deep thought about something really never made anyone feel better...

Did you ever realize that you have hobbies, stuff you just enjoy doing? Loved doing something so much and just never got the time around to spending time on it? Here's your chance..use the time you have instead of dwelling on being alone and single and try using the thoughts to spend it on your hobby or trying new things out. You may never know what may interest you until you try them out. Love cooking or baking? Don't limit yourself to just making that a hobby..make it a part-time business to keep you on your toes and earning yourself a little extra cash.

Listen to music. Be it rock, pop or even reggae. Listening to music can be the most therapeutic way to easing the mind. Find your favorite music artist and play their songs on repeat if you have to. Dance to the music you love, go into your room or where no one is watching and just let go with the moves.

Spend more time with friends and family. If you could never build a life with someone special then focus on building your life around the most important people, your family and friends. Your family and close friends are always the people that always genuinely care about you no matter what. Plan exciting things to do for a weekend that everyone looks forward to. Use this time to bond with them and have fun, this way you won't feel lonely or miserable and feel the need to be in a relationship to be happy.

3. Take advantage of being single

Learn to treat yourself. With more cash on your hands you are able to do whatever you want and whenever you want. No need to accommodate for you and another person anymore when you are the only person. Need a long vacation? You have it..take it and go meet new people. Been eyeing a new phone, a handbag, a play station? whatever it is just get it, considering you have a budget for other needs! Another good idea of being single is opening a savings account which will secure a better future for you and you know you always have back-up.

4. Join a non-profit organisation

Joining a non-profit organization allows you to help and care for other things beside a significant other. All depending on the type of non-profit organization allows you to get your mind of things and also share the love and feel good. Knowing that you are able to help someone or something, does a lot to make you feel better, as they are able to appreciate everything.

5. Learn to be alone

The most important thing any single person can do is learn to be alone and adapt to it. Until that special someone enters your life it's safer to be able to adapt to living alone rather than being dependent on someone being in your life. It's not a bad thing to hope that someone will eventually enter your life and make it beautiful, before you can do that make sure you are an independent person, so if someone does disappoint you, you know you are able to overcome that because you are an independent being.
