Breaking The Ice: Meeting New People

Updated on September 17, 2008
It can be uncomfortable meeting new people, whether it be at a party, at work, or at an event. However, it can pass once the bariers have been eliminated. Stating a conversation with someone you have never met before can be really easy to accomplish. Get the ball rolling by talking about current events or general interests (such as music, television, movies, sports, art, literature etc.). Topics such as religion and politics can be discussed, but are better left for a future coversation after a relationship has been established. Some people can be difficult to start a conversation with, but there are many who will gladly engage in a conversation. Who knows, you may even make a friend out of it in the proccess.

I think the best conversation starters are things we can ask others in a casual way to know more about them. We should show casual and normal interest in others, showing undue interest in knowing more about them can cause suspicion.
