Homemade sugar scrubs are actually really easy to make and healthier because you know every ingredient that goes into them.

Sweet Grape Body Scrub Recipe:

Ingredients

  1. 3 cups sugar
  2. 1-2 tsps. grape drink mix (I used kool aid)
  3. 2.5 cups oil (I used coconut)

Recipe Direction:

  1. In a medium bowl stir sugar and grape drink mix until combined (no more then 1 tsp. to start). Place oil into the medium bowl and mix until the oil has been incorporated into the sugar mixture. Once incorporated store in an air tight container.

Mint Sugar Scrub

This Homemade Mint Sugar Scrub is easy to make and a great DIY gift idea! Smells fantastic and leaves your skin super soft!

Ingredients

Vegan, Gluten free

Baking & Spices

  • 1 drop Food coloring, green
  • 1 tbsp Peppermint extract
  • 1 1/2 cups Sugar

Oils & Vinegars

  • 1/2 cup Coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Place coconut oil in a bowl and microwave on HIGH 15-25 seconds until softened.
  2. Start by adding 1½ cups sugar to the oil, along with the peppermint extract and green food coloring. Mix until ingredients are well combined and food coloring is evenly distributed. If mixture is too wet, add another ½ cup sugar until scrub is to desired consistency.
  3. Spoon scrub into air-tight containers (such as a mason jar) and decorate with twine or ribbon.

Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub

Ingredients

Vegan, Gluten free

Produce

  • 1 Cucumber, large
  • 2 tbsp Mint, fresh leaves

Baking & Spices

  • 2 1/2 cups Dixie crystals granulated sugar

Oils & Vinegars

  • 4 tbsp Olive oil, extra virgin

What To Do:

  1. Place cucumber and mint into blender. Puree.
  2. Into a medium bowl add: sugar, puree and olive oil. Stir until combined. NOTE: if you prefer mixture more firm add additional sugar.
  3. Divide mixture between desired storage containers and store in refrigerator until ready to use.

Lemon and Raspberry Lemon Sugar Scrub

6 mins to make, makes 2-3 cups

Ingredients

Vegan, Gluten free

Baking & Spices

  • 2 drops Food coloring depending on which batch you make, yellow or red
  • 10 drops Lemon essential oil or 10-15 drops raspberry or vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup White sugar, granulated

Oils & Vinegars

  • 1/4 cup Coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Melt coconut oil in microwave for 20-35 seconds until melted.
  2. Pour sugar into oil and mix. If too juicy, add a small amount of sugar and mix.
  3. Add food coloring to make the color you desire
  4. Add Essential Oils and Extract drops(if you're blending) to achieve the scent you desire.
  5. (For the Lemon Raspberry I used 10 drops Lemon EO and 10 drops Raspberry Extract)
  6. Store in an air-tight container.
  7. This recipe makes 2-3 small cups of scrub. To make multiple gifts or batches, double recipe.

Snow Cone Sugar Scrub Recipe

Baking & Spices

  • 1 Food coloring
  • 2 cups Sugar

Oils & Vinegars

  • 1/4 cup Coconut oil
  • 10 drops Essential oil

After mixing food coloring, put essential oil.

Apple Cinnamon Sugar Scrub

Ingredients

Vegan, Gluten free

Produce

  • 1 Apple, Medium sized

Baking & Spices

  • 1 Sprinkle Cinnamon, Powder
  • 1 Cinnamon extract
  • 1 1/2 cup Sugar

Oils & Vinegars

  • 1 cup Coconut oil

Tools & Equipment

  • 4 4 oz. jelly jars

Instructions

  1. Using a small paring knife cut the apple into smaller chunks and puree in a blender or food processor until it is smooth and set aside.
  2. In a medium size bowl, combine the coconut oil, sugar, apple mixture and 1-2 drop of cinnamon extract (a lot goes a long way) Sprinkle a few shakes of Cinnamon Powder and mix well.
  3. Add the scrub to Jelly jars.
  4. Print and cut out the labels and place on the lid; the metal ring will hold the label in place. For a more rustic look, you could also use a hole puncher to punch a hole in the top of the label – look through with twine and tie around the lid.
  5. Makes 4-5 4 oz. Jelly jars. The recipe can also be made smaller or larger depending on how much you would like to make.
  6. Scrub needs to be refrigerated and will last for about 2 weeks in the fridge. If there is any separation simply stir the mixture.
  7. For soft skin, use scrub on hands, elbows and feet. Rinse well.

Whipped Grapefruit Mint Sugar Scrub

Ingredients

Vegan, Gluten free

Produce

  • 1/4 tsp Beet
  • 1 Grapefruit, Zest of

Condiments

  • 10 drops Peppermint oil

Baking & Spices

  • 1/2 cup White sugar

Oils & Vinegars

  • 1/2 cup Coconut oil
  • 25 drops Grapefruit oil

Drinks

  • 1 tbsp Grapefruit juice

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place the firm coconut oil and white sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Mix together on low speed, until a thick paste is formed. Add the grapefruit zest, grapefruit juice, peppermint and grapefruit oil, and beet juice, if desired, to the mixture. Mix on low until incorporated and then turn the speed up to medium for about 20 seconds, or until mixture is well blended and fluffy. Store in an air-tight glass jar in the refrigerator.

Homemade Coffee Scrub

Makes 1 1/2 cups

Ingredients

Vegan, Gluten free

Baking & Spices

  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar

Oils & Vinegars

  • 1/4 Almond oil
  • 10 drops Essential oil, orange
  • 1/4 tsp Vitamin e oil

Drinks

  • 1 cup Coffee, ground

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. To use wet skin and use a small scoop to apply scrub to skin.
  3. Gently rub coffee scrub in circles to help remove dry skin.
  4. Clean as much as you can with a paper towel then remove the rest in the shower or kitchen sink.
  5. Store in airtight container.

Notes

  1. Begin by using 1/4 cup almond oil and increase until you reach your preferred texture.1/2 cup almond oil will make a thinner, more oily scrub. The scrub pictured was made with 1/4 cup almond oil. Best if used within 2-4 weeks.

Homemade Coffee-Coconut Sugar Scrub

Makes 3

Ingredients

Baking & Spices

  • 2 cups Sugar

Drinks

  • 1 cup Coffee, dry

Other

  • ¾ cup solid organic virgin coconut oil (from Trader Joe's)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Use the whisk attachment on your mixer to blend sugar and coffee grounds together - about 2 minutes until it’s fluffy. Then add ¾ cup solid coconut oil and whip mixture together for another 1-2 minutes.
  2. Transfer to an airtight container and keep in a cool place until ready for use.To package my coffee coconut sugar scrub for gifting, I spooned the scrub into small mason jars. Then I covered the jar lid with a personalized label

  • 1 tbsp Green tea, dried leaves

Condiments

  • 2 tbsp Honey, raw

Baking & Spices

  • 1 cup White or brown sugar

Oils & Vinegars

  • 1/2 cup Olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a medium-size bowl, combine all the ingredients. Store the exfoliator in an air-tight container in a cool, dark place (the linen closet or medicine cabinet).

To Use: Apply a tablespoon of exfoliator at a time to your hands. Gently massage the skin (face and/or body) with the exfoliator for 30 seconds. Rinse the exfoliator from the skin with water and a washcloth.

Sea Salt & Olive Oil Scrub

Ingredients

Vegan, Gluten free, Paleo

  • 1 cup Sea salt

Oils & Vinegars

  • 1/4 cup Olive oil

directions:

  1. Combine the ingredients mixing well. Add to a jar for gift giving or to keep for yourself.
  2. Depending on how thick or thin you like your scrubs, you can always adjust the amount of ingredients to your liking.

Detoxifying Lemon Ice Cubes
