Can You Fall Out of Love?
Is it possible?
It's the age-old question that will continue to be asked for years, decades and centuries to come. However, I hope to bring some insight to this question... Telling someone you love them or that you are 'in love' with them are two very different things (in a romantic context). Both emotions are intense, but one more than the other. Loving someone means loving who they are (personality), caring for them, enjoying being in their presence etc. However being in love with them means to become one with them, never wanting to leave their side, them to be your priority, loving everything about them etc. There are many, many more qualities to explain being in love, but what I'm mainly trying to focus on is the whether you can fall out of love. I don't think you can... Or can you?
Being in love with someone means to let yourself have no boundaries with that person, letting them into your soul, allowing yourself to feel vulnerable whether you want to or not, trusting them etc. Having experienced these emotions, it is merely impossible to retract yourself out of this feeling of being in love. If this person were to leave you, cheat on you, change in a negative way, unfortunately you will experience immense heartbreak and pain you have never experienced before, but you will not be able to fall out of love. In my opinion, once you let yourself fall for this person there is no way to fall out, hence the use of the word 'fallen' you can never undo a fall, though you can heal from it, in the same way you can heal from heartbreak. Once again you can only fall out of love when the person has changed. However, you will still be in love with the person that they were, in which case some people would experience mourning over that person as if they were really dead.
On the other hand, this can be the most wonderful experience in the world, which it is. Having that feeling of unexplained happiness, butterflies, always happy and positive, feeling nothing in world can take away this happiness from you, knowing you have found the 'One' and all other beautiful and sweet emotions you experience when being in love. It's true when they say the best things in life are free. When you are in love, I don't think you would ever want to fall out, because there is nothing quite so beautiful.
