Cheap Wedding Anniversary Ideas

Updated on March 28, 2016

1. Use Priceline Express Deals to Book a Hotel Near You

With me in graduate school and my husband being the sole supporter of us both, we didn't have much money to spend on an anniversary trip this year. However, this is our first anniversary and I wanted to make it special!

A friend told me about Priceline's express deals and how her and her husband had a stay-cation here in Atlanta for their anniversary. She told me how she got a a 4 star hotel for less than $100 a night in Downtown Atlanta, so I thought, "What the heck" and gave it a try.

When choosing your express deal on you get to choose the area, the price range, and the number of stars, you DO NOT get to know the name of the hotel. My husband and I were able to get a 5 star hotel for $140 that is normally well over $200 a night! All we need is us, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. A nice dinner and some alone time to reconnect is a recipe for a wonderful anniversary!

Send the Kids to the Grandparent's (or other family member)

If you have kids, you may or may not be able to away for a little while together as a couple a few times a month with the help of your parents or other family members, but when is the last time you has a whole weekend to yourselves? That's right, I'm talking no kids, no appointments, no chores, nothing. Just you and your spouse.

You don't need to go on a fancy cruise to make your anniversary special, this time is about celebrating the love that you have for each other and the life you have built together.

So, send the kids away Friday night, order take-out or even make your favorite dish at home together. Rent some movies you have been dying to watching, and just talk. Reconnect with your spouse in a way that you may not have been able to for quite some time.

Maybe mix it up a little a get some adult game to spice things up a bit!

Have a Fun Photo Shoot

Whether professionally done or taken yourselves, pictures hold many stories and memories for a lifetime. Take some time to capture this season of life to look back on as the years progress.

Have fun with the photo shoot, make it sexy if you want, or go explore the city and be a tourist for the day! Maybe even drive out to the country or the mountains and take some fun photos of each other! Get creative, but most importantly, reconnect with your spouse and celebrate this momentous occasion!

Take an Art Class

If you guys are the creative type, take an art class together! Whether this be painting, sculpting, pottery, photography, this is a great way to create something together that you can keep for years to come!

Try a Local Restaurant

Be a tourist in your town for a day! Check out that restaurant you drive by every day, stop into that little shop on the corner that has been there for decades, visit that park everyone talks about. You don't have to fly (or drive) to some far away town to be a tourist, I bet there are some places in your own backyard that you have yet to discover! And the best part is, you don't have to deal with figuring out directions, getting a hotel, or spending a fortune on gas!

Go Wine (or Beer) Tasting

If you are like myself, then you tend to stick to the drinks that you know you like. Wine or beer tasting gives you the opportunity to try out different drinks that you wouldn't have otherwise tasted, and who knows, you might find a new favorite! These are usually fairly inexpensive and most of the time they give you a commemorative glass!
