Dangerous After Sundown (Poetry)

Updated on January 25, 2016

The Mood Subsides Like The Mellowing Sun

Let's Pick On The Sly Dog

He’s dangerous after sundown,

Influenced by darkened light,

The more you smile he glows around

As day changes to night.

He’s dangerous after sundown

His mood is getting sultry

Beware of Hex the clown,

Do not commit adultery.

He’s dangerous after sundown

He’ll sweep you of your feet,

It’s happened to many a woman,

His kiss is a new treat,

He’s dangerous at sundown

Don’t go with… behind closed doors,

He’ll melt you down like a pot of wax

Seeping from your pores.

He’s dangerous at sundown

He’ll treat you like a lollipop,

You’ll visit the bliss of ecstasies

Then have you to do a flip-flop.

He’s dangerous at sundown

Like Cinderella at sunup,

When the sun has leveled the ground

There is darkness in the cup.

No more light for emotions to cling to,

No more light to see your way out,

The mellowest mood seems overdue

And in the heat of the night is all about.

With him it’s no fighting the feeling,

It’s your heart that’s been ensued,

If you think he’s that much appealing,

You have been completely subdued.

It Doesn't Take Much Or So If It Does

You Make Him Like This

Uh Oh, If You Close The Door

It's In Us All

Preserve Your Heart Mind And Soul

Do not get taken in by (he or she) the savage beast ,

Preserve yourself to say the least.

At The End

At the end, just like the rain,

It all comes down in the heart full of pain.

I felt the darkness settle in as I read your words. Great job of portraying a sinister character with a hidden agenda.

Good advice for women to be on guard. It's strange what the darkness does to ppl when they feel hidden.

This is an interesting and dramatic poem, word55! You've described the dangerous atmosphere that surrounds the character in the poem very well. The title and its repetition are very effective, too.

Thank you for the warning. The senses seem less alert when the sun goes down, and naïve minds can be more easily subdued. Reading it in poetry may be more appealing for youth. Good job!

ah to be seduced so thoroughly is every girls fantasy and every girls fear.

it sounds like a dangerous bliss that we all yearn for.

word55, to be swept away by the force of emotions is bliss to some but to be a master of them is a difficult task. Very powerful display of emotions in this very vibrant poem ! Well-expressed thoughts !
